Listening to a number of recent podcasts and reading the back pages I reckon JT has got to brace himself for another sh*t year. I really don't understand what he has done to have the whole press core turn against him, with the exception of Gab (Marcotti), but it seems they are waiting with the knives out for the slightest slip on or off the field. (Also surprised as this also includes a large number of ex-players) Have I missed something (please no jealousy theories)?

JT has gone past the point of no return with the press im afraid. It will be more of the same, and more of that still.

Ive always said that whilst the bloke is clearly a bit of an arse as long as what he does off field doesn't affect what Chelsea do on the field then i can see past it. There were a few games last year where the off the field stuff did affect his (and our) game but yet he still went on to captain a double winning side, and at times rather inspirationally too.

My main concern with JT is his form. He does seem to be getting caught out more and more, now im very aware of the theory that take him out the team we lose organsisation and leadership but that is all well and good but if the player in question is costing you a goal and chances each game whats the point!?

Still, he goes into the season with a clean slate, but i do have concerns. I think its a big season for him.

I don't think that slimy c**t of an England manager making an example of him and nobody else really helped.

He'd rather have a criminal as England captain than an alleged adulterer.

It really is odd isn't it?

On one hand you hear some really great stories on how generous he is to Chelsea fan's always taking time to sign autographs pose for photo’s , and for anyone who has attend an official Club lunch , he is not shy in making himself known and grabbing a camera to make sure fan’s have photo’s with him . He also does this for other clubs fans if they make the effort and write in. You hear a lot of good things on how he has called up individual fans and responds to letters sent. You then hear how well he treats all the admin staff at Cobham bringing in flowers and gifts for the staff etc.

Then you hear the other side of his nights out with the boys and how has been seen, allegedly draped over various young ladies who throw themselves at him. We will never know how much has been kept out of the papers for various reasons (Man City and pay as you go phones in bins last summer ..............)

I do think he treats with written press with complete contempt which will not go down well with them .He also seems to hold a ring of steel around Cobham and the 1st team squad denying press intrusion and access.

He also has a very bitter ex agent who has lost his main source of income and will talk to all and sundry on what he previously covered up for him ,

To me he is currently Mr. Chelsea and will remain so

Spot on,completely agree. I cant see what he has done thats so bad, when Manure or the bin dippers do anything, its mentioned once then forgotten about forever.

It makes me laugh crouch paid to have sex with a teenager and its aready almost forgotten terrys aledged affair is still mentioned i guess the media hatred will always continue as they never had any proof of the affair, terry was still opta rated as the best defender last season yet people still call for his head including some of our own fans which makes me laugh cause you've prob been a fan since we started to win things idiots..

I ll never understand our own fans knocking him, I would argue with them if I ever heard it. Its probably the new lot.

That's so true. Gerrard has been arrested, what, twice? For brawls in bars I believe. I heard it has something to do with Capello's religious beliefs.

I've always been a big fan of John Terry.

But I must admit his game has significantly deteriorated over last season.

He has become vulnerable in defence because of his lack of pace.

I won't be surprised if Carlo replaces him with Ivanovic if things are not working out.

I'm sure John would be the first to admit that NO player is bigger than the club.

I always think JT looks a little uneasy if Ashley Cole is having an off game.

As long as the Community Shield was just an off game for Cole, I think JT will be good for a while yet with Ashley Coles pace beside him.

Has Gerrard been nicked twice?

I guess its a 1-1 draw in the race with JT for the most 'being involved in bar fights and standing trial for it' stakes though.

I know the press and Capello have it in for Terry, but the lad really doesn't help himself. The best thing he can do is keep his head down, and just concentrate on his football at Chelsea, and try and work back to his form from a few years ago, with the captains armband on. The England stuff is pretty irrelevant now - I don't think JT will be an England player in 4 years time, so what does it matter now...he's got at least 3 more Premier League titles to lead us to, and thats all that matters.

Exactly. I think a massive concern for us is that JTs best attributes is not his pace or necessarily his physical attributes but his leadership/mentality and reading of the game.

Meaning that if the media gets into his head, it will effect the strongest part of his game and indeed the very part that maeks him so great a servant to the club.

Lets hope his mentality and focus outweighs the bitterness of the local medias......I have confidence he will!

I think that the papers in England (well, the media in general) should learn to a) not spread rumours, B) make sure they have got the whole story and not just the "good parts" that'll make the story "interesting", and c) let things go after awhile.

Journos nowadays really do appear to be a bunch of w*nkers.

And some fans as well. Will they ever stop booing Terry? Now it's starting to get pathetic.

Am not sure Terry has lost any pace - he's never had much - his skills have always been everything else and the lack of pace has only mattered on the odd occasion and normally covered by his defensive partners - reports of his demise are very premature - I can think of many top strikers and midfielders who have gone downhill when their pace went - but not many top centre backs (no doubt someone will correct me and not sure Winston Bogarde counts!)

I find the boos encouraging. I remember when the Burnley fans booed Terry and he went up and grabbed the winner with that stunning header. And of course, Drogba and Cole always get booed by Arsenal fans and they always put in such a great shift against the Gooners.

Appointing Gerrard really worked out well for England, didn't it. But nothing is said of that! f**k the press, and the National team for being so stupid. Crouch shagging teenagers, "wazza" shagging Grannies, but nothing is said of any of them. Oh, and between Terry and Gerrard they appointed a doper!!! Amazing

F- the Press

F- the Journos

When have they every been good to us.... ha- never. All know that JT is Chelsea through & through and for one am damn proud of what he and the rest of the Boys pulled together last season- Ash Scandal, great departure of Guus, Jose disprupting the CL bid, Bridgey Phantom hand shake, poor form at home, no Ess, Drogs/Kalou/Obi having a months vacation- and we still win FA Cup & Prem....if that doesn't shut the critics up, don't know what will

All kinds of crap went down last year and we still tuned it out and whooped some a.s.s-

I'll take 11 slow, old, JT's with the Heart of a Warrior anyday-

He an't & we aint done yet

F'em all- lets do the Double again

It is an uncomfortable topic but the Terry situation worries me a great deal. Obviously he has been a great player and a great capitan. However his ability has declined significantly. This isn't based off the Community Shield, it's based off everything. World Cup form, form last season. He wasn't bad last season but was very inconsistent. His intangible qualities are great and undeniable. However you have to balance great intangibles with ability and where is the line drawn. At what point does his heart not make up form his lack of pace?

I don't think Terry will take to a demotion gracefully. And a demotion will happen eventually. Maybe this year, maybe next, jay be five years. I just fear that when it happens he will turn into a very negative and divisive force. I hate to say it but when he no longer has the quality to be a regular in our lineup he needs to leave the squad; either retire or go elsewhere.

I do think that he will be deserving of a regular spot this season but for my money Ivan is our first choice centre back if he isn't playing right back.

I also share similair concerns however I think he can turn it around. The best thing for JT at the moment is to take his mind of the national team, the media and concentrate on playing some good consistent football for Chelsea fc.

Hopefully once we get the season rolling, he will regain form and perform up to previous standard.

Apparently not, mate! Our Captain, FFS!

Agree with you on that one. It's bad enough putting up with the media and rival fans giving our players stick without our own fans joining in and agreeing with all the s**t that is written about them.
