A character, and damn glad to have him on our squad.

I see a long relationship between Luiz and Chelsea. Awesome!

Haha what a guy

Don't think any of us were saying that 10 minutes after this post!!

Was surprised Carlo too Luiz off today, even allowing for the shaky first half - especially as Ivan looked like a red card waiting to happen. Carlo did looked pissed of with Luiz though - perhaps he thought he had just cost him his job?

'RT @RickGlanvill: And Luíz has to tighten up his defending. Only when he has should he play the fool around at Cobham...'

Spot on

No .....don't crush the spirit is what I say, so he is not so solid at that back at times, this league was dead and buried until he turned up, we need that little bit extra from our players that he gives

Completely agree. If you kill his shenanigan's then you kill his spirit and in turn the player. Defensive capabilities can be instilled into him, but we don't want to take away the character that he is.

We know that some South American players are more emotional than other, but they play with that emotion and passion. Please don't kill it.

I do think he and Torres coming into the team when they did has afforded us to be this disappointed today.

One bad game and he suddenly his shenanigans and defensive ability are coming under fire? That's more than a little disappointing.

He will learn from his mistakes....next season, he should be a better defender.

I still love the bloke.

Not coming under fire, just a bit of critiscm, which he shouldnt be above.

Agree, and it is not just one bad game

However he has got it in him to be solid we have seen both sides.

Would never usggest changing his character, it will aid the dressing room greatley.

I, as did others, mentioned a while ago that Luiz has been making some defencive errors. I know I mentioned he has had some poor positioning at times, including playing people onside, long before this match.... it was really just a amtter of time, shame it was sucha big match.

Anyways, you got to get burned by the mistake ebfore you learn from it..... lets hope this left enough of a singe for the message to sink in properly!

Class player, but young, he just needs a little time to settle and irn out these small mistakes.

I find it very ironic that people say things like he is young, he will adjust in time, and that he needs experience and will become a great player,BUT nobody says the same things about Mikel. They are the same age to the day. I believe Luiz will become a great player and I also believe the same can be said for Mikel. For some reason, people don't give the same slack to Mikel.

We've been saying that for many years now for Mikel and have realized it'll never happen. This is Luiz's first season here. I think it was wrong of Carlo to throw him under the bus for one bad mistake when he doesn't punish the senior players no matter how sh*te they play.

Mikel has been here for quite a few years now, Jose, Hiddink, Carlo all have given him plenty of chances, just haven't quite made it. Hopefully he will be a great player in the next 2-3 years. Luiz is completely different, come from a different and lower standard league, shoved right into the firing line, and has done quite well despite the mistakes. His problem is over commit, a lot easier to rectify than say someone who has no pace or can't read the play.

It wasn't the fact he made an error, it was the way he looked to say it wasn't him who was at fault.

He is young, but not that young.

I approve of Ancelotti having the balls to take him off for arguing with him.

He will be a great asset for us in the coming years but he didn't handle himself well under the pressure on Sunday.

Actually I do say that about Mikel...... take a look if you care.

I feel he has a great forward passing range that has not yet been fully exploited/encouraged/developed by our team but would add a whole new dimension to how we press the attack....

I think he is a player who could help bring out the best in Torres if his passing range is exploited, much as Alonso helped provide Torres with service from deep in Liverpool midfield.
