Fans ripping the shirts off the backs of the players at the end. They would be sh*tting themselves if that happened today.

Quite right- compare the shirtless torsos of the Wolves players in the tunnel with today’s ripped specimens- not a lot of gym work back then- just running probably.

My first time in Gate 13 was the opening home game v Wolves- midweek 82- went to Wolves for the return in January which was one of the coldest games I’ve attended. The old South Bank was truly massive. Believe it was bigger than the Holte and the Kop

I was on the benches that night. The start of a bad season to come but then I wouldn’t have had the fun of being at Bolton for one of the biggest games in our history! By the way the wolves home game was 31/8/82 so it’s 36 years today!!

Chelsea 5-4 Manchester City, Full Members Cup Final at Wembley in the spring of 1986.

The goals.

That City penalty at the very end kind of reminded me of the one we got last Sunday at Newcastle !

Now that has got me up for the bridge tomorrow Ersk. I think this game may of been discussed on here in the past a few times as well!!!! First trophy I had ever seen us win apart from the 1970 cup final as 1 year old baby

Yeah that 5-4 game from Wembley in 1986 has been discussed on here a few times I admit.

Guilty as charged:biggrin:

I still get nervous at the City comeback, when we are 5-1 up :sofa::biggrin:

There’s some good story’s about the boys spending the night in Blackpool after the Bolton game. About 100 of them stayed in a big hotel- punch ups with bouncers, fire alarms going off- next morning at breakfast a well known face approached a table of straight laced holiday makers- stuck a bread knife into their table “ what one of you ..... kept us up all night then?”

Was a great day out at Wembley although it was a bit tense in the last few minutes. A mate of mine is a City fan and left a few minutes before the end when it was still 5-1 to us. On leaving the ground he heard a cheer and thought that Chelsea had scored a sixth. He was shocked when he got home and heard that the final score was 5-4. And to think that we had played Southampton the day before. On the Saturday my other team, Rangers had drawn 4-4 with Celtic at Ibrox. There were a few Rangers fans at Wembley.

I went up there with a mate, and my mum and dad!!!! We left them outside Wembley, when me and mate met my parents back at car after game, we said what a game, they said glad you saw it! After 15 mins  they as others were, were helped out by means of ladders, as our end were so rammed, so missed game, ended up in a McDonald's all afternoon!!

The only time my Mum went she got vertigo in the top tier of the East Stand and left to go shopping on the Kings Rd after about 10 minutes.

Same day- my old man was waiting outside the Pelican for me to turn up- West Ham FA Cup 2001 I think- went to a replay- a dozen or so West Ham turned up giving it the biggun- starting going off around him- he got a good couple of digs in himself apparently- would have been 68 at the time!

Edit- he despised football hooliganism but just got “ caught up in it”

Age is but a number!.

Brilliant. Love the basic kits. Players wearing 1-11. Keepers wearing same colour shorts and socks as outfield players plus green tops (shame we can't or not allowed to go back to that). Near perfect playing surface lol players these days would have kittens seeing that pitch. Ground appears full of Chelsea even though game at QPR (no change there tbh) and WTF is the ref wearing? Obviously meant for a bigger bloke!

Yes we played 2 games in 2 days. Hats off to real footballers

Was Dempsey pointing to the corner, he thought Venables was going to place the penalty? Turned out he was right!

Seeing the photo of Alec Jackson at the top of the 30/31 photo reminded me of this article I read recently. It's a pretty good read for those interested.

Cheers for that.

My grandfather saw Alec Jackson at the famous England v Scotland game at Wembley in 1928.

Great story about Jackson playing in the USA in the 1920s.

I see Denis Waterman makes an appearance. His brother Peter, who was a very good boxer, used to have a mobile tea, food bar at the edge of Mitcham Common. After a game of football, it was a regular stop for a lot of lads in the 60's.

His Showbusiness 11 were pretty busy in the 80s.

In Minder his character Terry was a Chelsea fan ( as he was), but in the Sweeney DC Carter was a Fulham fan. There’s an episode where he says to Regan “ Fancy going to Craven Cottage to watch 22 blokes kick a bit of leather?”

He was Fulham in Minder as well. There's an episode where he complains about Richard Money being sold to Liverpool there's also a Fulham pendant in his gaff. Fulham seemed to be the team everyone on TV supported in London in the 70's Budgie, Citizen Smith.
