June 17, 201610 yr Sea of thieves looks amazing, love the videos doing the rounds showing people having an absolute riot playing it. I've seen a WhatsApp conversation my mate had with his cousin who got to play it at e3, and he said it's the biggest laugh he's ever had playing a game and everyone who had a go had an absolute great time.

June 19, 201610 yr Calling all fans of the SSX games or fans of skiing/snowboarding in general; anyone seen the gameplay footage of Steep, rom E3? Without any hyperbole, this looks f**king amazing!

Wow. I've been playing tricky on phone through a psp emulator. Loved the original though.
June 19, 201610 yr A good snowboarding game is long overdue. Any release date yet? I picked up Rainbow Six yesterday. Real good game, love the tactical side of it.

June 19, 201610 yr Not sure if this was posted, but Skyrim Special Edition will be free for PC gamers (Steam) who own all DLCs or the Legendary Edition. YESSS! http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/2016/06/12/remaster-some-people-will-be-getting-skyrim-remastered-for-free/#6320c0392ef2
June 19, 201610 yr Anyone playing Battleborn for the PS4? Good fun. I bought Overwatch, have not tried it yet.
June 20, 201610 yr Calling all fans of the SSX games or fans of skiing/snowboarding in general; anyone seen the gameplay footage of Steep, rom E3? Without any hyperbole, this looks f**king amazing! Got excited, I thought there was another SSX release coming out. The game looks decent and they seem to have avoided one of the main mistakes SSX Deadly Descent made but as a rule I don't like these open world snowboarding games, SSX Deadly Descent was horrible partly because of this. In fact I'm getting sick of open world being shoved into everything these days for the sake of marketing, the Burnout franchise died the moment they introduced it in Burnout Paradise. Now every racing game has it too which instantly makes me lose interest, some games are just better without it. Give me the old SSX formula any day. Fixed tracks, good storyline and great music. Strap your boots on and shred the mountains, why make it more complicated. Anyone playing Battleborn for the PS4? Good fun. I bought Overwatch, have not tried it yet. If you look Battleborn then you'll really enjoy Overwatch, it's much better.
June 20, 201610 yr But fixed tracks limit the game. Having games open world means people are more likely to spend longer on a game. That said, I'm not really sure how you can make Snowboarding open world.
June 20, 201610 yr But fixed tracks limit the game. Having games open world means people are more likely to spend longer on a game. That said, I'm not really sure how you can make Snowboarding open world. Agreed. As much as I love the SSX games, fixed tracks are a bit passé. Open world games are very much the zeitgeist right now and they haven't done it well (if at all) with a snowboarding game. Being able to switch views whenever you want- especially the go pro stuff- looks really innovative. You can still do races and stuff so I think there is something here for everybody. Ubisoft are good at making open world games so I have every confidence that this will be a hit.
June 20, 201610 yr But fixed tracks limit the game. Having games open world means people are more likely to spend longer on a game. That said, I'm not really sure how you can make Snowboarding open world. In theory. Problem is the open world provided in these games do more to accelerate people's boredom rather than encourage them to keep on playing, especially seeing as it often comes at the expense of the things I mentioned above. We'll see how Steep does, I'll probably still get it regardless as I'm a snowboarding fan, but I'm not expecting much from the open world. I think there's a very good reason why these sort of games don't have success with it and the sooner companies stop trying to cash in on open world the sooner they can start refocusing on what truly made games like SSX and Burnout great.
June 24, 201610 yr Bit of a dry spell for new games right now. As always winter is stacked for most of the releases. I'm waiting for No Mans Sky at the moment but will wait for reviews... It's going to be great or a massive let down. Not sure what else is coming out soon? Summer sucks.
June 25, 201610 yr Yeah this first six months of the year has been really poor game wise. Hardly any good games. The next six months looks all better and will improve.
June 26, 201610 yr Bit of a dry spell for new games right now. As always winter is stacked for most of the releases. I'm waiting for No Mans Sky at the moment but will wait for reviews... It's going to be great or a massive let down. Not sure what else is coming out soon? Summer sucks. It's been hyped to f**king hell, there is no way it will live up to the expectations people have of it. However, I am positive that it will deliver what it has promised from the outset and nothing more- the chance to explore a gargantuan procedurally generated universe. Hello Games have stressed from the beginning that there isn't a story or main objective, apart from getting to the "centre" of the universe. People who want more shouldn't buy it, simple as that. This is the game I have been waiting for half my life, being able to explore planets, mine resources and upgrade your ship is my wet dream.
June 28, 201610 yr Has anyone bought a game in the current Steam summer sale? Apart from a few good deals, it has been a rather disappointing sale so far IMO. Edited June 28, 201610 yr by Zinc
June 28, 201610 yr Has anyone bought a game in the current Steam summer sale? Apart from a few good deals, it has been a rather disappointing sale so far IMO. I usually only check my wishlist and only care about at least 60-66% discounts. It's a great opportunity usually to pick up games from small independent studios (like This War of Mine or FTL) or some classics (e.g. the complete Civ5 with all dlcs is going for €11.26, a 92% drop) for a few euros.
June 29, 201610 yr Bought and have been playing Dying Light's DLC, The Following. Anyone that enjoyed Dying Light would like it. There's less parkour which is a shame but the open spaces offer something different and the inclusion of a buggy and crossbow both add a lot.
June 29, 201610 yr Has anyone bought a game in the current Steam summer sale? Apart from a few good deals, it has been a rather disappointing sale so far IMO. I bought the AoE collections and all the Command & Conquer titles and DLC as well. I loved these when I was younger but since it switched gaming really switched over to Steam I've not had them so bought them out of nostalgia. I also got Civilization V but I hadn't realised that was turn based as opposed to real time so I'm not a great fan of that!

June 29, 201610 yr I loved Dying Light but traded it in after a finished it. I am tempted to buy it and replay it. How big is the DLC? Not sure about the campaign as I'm not that far into it, apparently about ten hours. There are side quests and there's random stuff to do like in the main game as well so probably 20+ hours gameplay. The map is two times bigger than the original game. This can be misleading as there are loads of open spaces but it's still big. It's the first DLC I've bought but definitely worth the money so far. I traded the game in and re-bought it as well. Edited June 29, 201610 yr by RichardCFC
