April 29, 201214 yr Thanks lool Funny thing is im prob 90% sure that i will be at the final cus there is always somone selling tickets and plus i know alot of people in the right places at chelsea :) so well see who's laughing at the final There will be plenty selling tickets but the demand is so big (much bigger than last year according to uefa) that black market prices will be mind boggling.
April 29, 201214 yr Well, this isn't a ticket shop, you see. If you know people in the right places at Chelsea, why are you desperate?
April 29, 201214 yr Now it would be nice if some of the other english fans thought that way, given stick in the domestic scene but in europe we represent our leagues and countries. Most of the rival fans will just insist our style against Barca was not football at all and for that we deserve to get beat. I think this might be a slight exaggeration, yeah a bunch of rival fans will hate on us ("plastic club blah blah this that the other") but there are still plenty of fans who will be backing the English team, the ones who rise above all the crap and aren't petty - hell, even Gary Neville was cheering us on vs Barca!!
April 29, 201214 yr First of all, credit to Bosingwa to putting in a great shift for the Barcelona game as a CB. However, I still think Ferreira is a safer option in the Final against Bayern and maybe Liverpool. Heres how I would line up personally if Luiz and Cahill are fit. GK: Cech RB: Ferreira RCB: Luiz LCB: Cahill LB: Cole LDM: Lampard RDM: Mikel LAM: Sturridge CAM: Mata RAM: Kalou ST: Drogba I haven't seen Ferreira make any big mistakes for a while, while Bosingwa is defintley more prone to losing his man, or being tricked. If we're going to be facing Ribery, I think we need a safer option personally. I saw this debate going on, on Chelsea TV in the Benfica game and was wondering what everyone elses opinion was? Bosingwa or Ferreira? (for the finals)
April 29, 201214 yr Ferreira's generally more reliable but Bayern's wingers are quick and use their pace well, which makes me feel that Bosingwa would be better suited to dealing with them
April 29, 201214 yr Thought Ferreira was ineligable for the champions league as he wasn't named in the squad? Could be wrong and hope i am.
April 29, 201214 yr If everyone is fit for the FA Cup final then in my opinion - neither get into the team. For the CL final... I don't know. Bosingwa has been a great CB but I still don't trust him at RB. Against Ribery and Robben I guess you opt for speed because if he gets caught out he can track back quick at least. Plus as others have said - I don't think Paulo is eligible for the CL anyway.
April 29, 201214 yr Author Don't rate Bosingwa really, although he's done well filling in at CB recently. But Ferreria just hasn't had enough game time to throw him into a huge cup final.
April 29, 201214 yr Thought Ferreira was ineligable for the champions league as he wasn't named in the squad? Could be wrong and hope i am. I don't think Paulo is eligible for the CL anyway. Surely he is?? He played against Benfica away and had a cracker!
April 29, 201214 yr In the 2008 CL final we had a similar dilema at RB, Avram had Ferreira or Essien to pick from, Avram chose Essien, Ronaldo out jumped Essien to score utd's only goal of the game. Edited April 29, 201214 yr by coco
April 30, 201214 yr So it seems that our plan will be to defend for most of the time and hit them on the counter, like we did against Barca (except they'll probably have a weaker defense). I can see us getting criticised again if we win...
April 30, 201214 yr I'd take Bosingwa at center back if need be. But for right back it has to be the calmness and experience of Paulo.
April 30, 201214 yr It's a very interesting question. I myself have always preferred Paulo and have thought he was regularly overlooked unfairly as we lurched from right-back to right-back trying to find a right-footed Ashley Cole. In this particular case, I think Bosingwa's recent heroics in the Nou Camp should give him first preference. Of course it isn't beyond the range of possibility that they both play in the CL final if Cahill doesn't come up in time. I think there is a longer term element to this discussion as well. I was considering the squad last night, and both are out of contract at the end of the season. Obviously Ivan remains first choice, and I don't really see any point of signing a new right-back because I think he Ivan will be there for several years to come. I think Todd Kane looks to be an excellent up and comer who can perhaps be a long term more attacking solution in that zone, but that still leaves us with a backup issue. Do we go with Bosingwa, who seems to almost be better when not played at RB or with Paulo, who I'm sure would love to finish his career with us, and I'd like to see be given the opportunity to do his badges, and become even more a part of the furniture than he already is. What does everyone else think?
April 30, 201214 yr It's good, at least, that right back is the position where we're struggling as opposed to left back, since Robben's been impressing me much more than Ribery has in recent games.
April 30, 201214 yr Is Boateng injured by any chance? He wasn't even on the bench when Bayern played Stuttgart a couple of days ago.

April 30, 201214 yr Just read an article about Ribery punching Robben at half time in the Real match, and they show a picture with Robben having a big welt under his eye. Great to see dissention among their ranks. Ribery was fined 50,000 Euros, supposedly.

April 30, 201214 yr Thanks for that clarification, Zippy. From reading the article, you would have thought it was the second leg, but I am sure you are correct.
