This is getting weird for a football forum convo between opposing fans, lol.

What the hell let's have a laugh, in 7 days we'll be at each other's throats.

Is that a promise, Liebchen?

If you could do it in the lounge though mate, a lot of people pop in here to talk about the game, not your arse.

Ethical sees enough off topic in a thread, it will all get moved anyway. You may as well save him a job. Cheers.

Fair point, no offence intended. Just had a few watching the game.

Bayern are a more infamous club than Dortmand (bigger if you will). This was the end of Dortmund’s season, not Bayern’s. You think winning the German cup matters whether Bayern beat us or not?

Win the CL and is this groups biggest achievement, you think the fans can take any solace by saying "oh well we lost the CL final but won the German cup" or boast further "winning the German cup makes winning the CL even better".

Now our FA cup, steeped in a great history. We will all be gutted if we lose to Bayern however we once more got OUR trophy back this year and was a great moment beating a rival like Liverpool in the final.

Bayern losing this game is like us on Tuesday, a group of players who did not care about the game because they have something more to focus on.

Bayern’s defence may be bad, but whoever they put our will be better than Paulo, Essien, Boswinga and Cole at the back (as we may have to play). So best not to jinx us by mocking their defence eh?

Two sides capable of the great will meet in Munich, hopefully it will be a great game. Play at our best and we can win, but don’t kid yourself in to believing it will be the same Bayern side that rolled over for Dortmund.

To be fair, Bayern put out their best squad today. We hardly put out our best squad on tuesday. And you can't compare their Cup game to a truly meaningless league game for Chelsea. What, Bayern is suddenly above the DFB Cup? They're too good for it? Beating their bitter rivals against whom they'd lost 4 in a row wasn't enough to get up for?!? Chelsea had lost 4 in a row to Liverpool, but they sure thought it was worth showing up even though they had a quote unquote bigger prize to play for too.

In the cup final?

Nah I just meant the last game we played - but cup final is more important so I'll go with that and forget about what followed it

Italian cup, Spanish Cup, German cup et al are mostly looked upon like most English sides look upon the league cup.

When we lost against Spurs did it make losing the CL final to United worse? Would have winning the league cup lessened the heartache or would have winning it improved the euphoria of winning the CL? No, not a chance. Maybe this is the comparison I should have drawn rather than Liverpool.

It would have been good to beat Spurs on that occasion but the pain has long since gone from it, the memories have faded. How about Drogba thundering a drive against the bar? Or JT slipping at the vital moment? Those memories are still fresh, as they will be against Bayern (whatever the outcome). The same will be said for them, and the occasion is grander for them. It is their country, their stadium, in front of a majority share of their fans (you can say tickets are sold equally but we all know more Bayern fans will get the "neutral" seats than we will). A final against an English side, once more another chapter in the Germany and England chronicles.

It could not be a bigger final for them. In comparison a final against Dortmund looks far less important.

I disagree axman. I was arguably just as upset losing to Spurs at Wembley that year. Losing to Spurs anytime is balls, let alone in a final.

They will still be heavy favourites next weekend. Our great hope is that Drogba in his last match for the club, with the hurt of Moscow burning him, will come up big. If that happens, then it might be something to see.

Fair enough, not found Spurs to be anything more than annoying rather than dislikeable, mind you in my 18 years of following the club we have basically owned Spurs so yeah...

Can but hope, but is the team effort that will decided it for me. Didi at his best will win nothing if our other 10 play poorly.

Aboolutely mon petit poi !

Could you please take this stuff to private messaging. It will be just as much fun for you there. It seems to be in every thread I've visited in the last 10 minutes.

Don't worry, we will be a very different proposition next week. Feel free to underestimate us, I hope di Matteo does as well.

We won't underestimate you, if anything you should underestimate us.

We aren't going to be stupid enough to underestimate a side that has reached the CL final, whoever the opposition is.

Nor will we, then. By the way, I've always wanted to ask you this (sorry if it sounds impolite). Are you German?

No mate, I'm originally from Sheffield and still follow Sheff United, but I've lived over here since 1984.
