Not really sure what sources are good for information but this is an article in response to what the Mirror claimed.

I personally don't feel Van Der Wiel would be the best fit for Chelsea, he reminds me of a younger Bosingwa with his gambling on the interception and desire to go forward more than he should.

I also can't say I know much about Debuchy outside that he plays for the same team Hazard just came from, Lille.

I just want a solid RB that plays like Ivanovic but ISN'T Ivanovic because mid to long term (3-5 years) I see him as our best CB with either Cahill or Luiz fighting to be his partner.

In a sense he reminds me a lot of Ashley Cole at the same age i.e. pre-Chelsea; he's quick and loves to get forward, not much end product or awareness in defense, but is very tenacious and determined and will run down any winger on his flank. I think he has the potential to be as good as Cole or Evra at their peak.

A coach at Lille described him as the kind of player who will put his head where most players fear to put their foot. That's the kind of character that we expect and have seen from Ivanovic, Terry, Cole and even Luiz and Cahill in their short times here. That's the kind of spirit that we want and cherish in our defenders.

I agree Debuchy over VDW. I'd heard about Debuchy a bit before the tournament and now seeing him play he really does remind me of a young Ashley Cole. At 6M it's gotta be worth a punt. While we're at it lets sign Newcastles scouts they seem to be punching above their weight a lot lately hahaha.

Your saying Debuchy over VDW, but how does Debuchy compare to Piszczek? Can't say I have seen much of either play, and read an article that Piszczek was the back-up if we failed to sign Debuchy. And what the hell happened Azpillcueta?

I wouldn't take VanDerWiel. We could have just sticked with unibrau then. At least he carries some attacking threat. Can't say too much about Wiel from these 3 games as Holland was very anemic and plain bad but he certainly didn't set the world alight.

This Debuchy looks lot better IMO. He has a sort of drive in him. He wants to attack and he has some defending skills as well. It is well said his style reminds of Ashley.

Debuchy has been class the last 2 seasons whenever I've seen him play for Lille I wouldn't say he's only been good at the Euro's. The only thing is this will be pushing his price up.

Lille coach Rudi Garcia [with regards to Newcastle making a bid for Debuchy] said: "I do believe that Newcastle have faxed an offer of £4million - but they must have the wrong player."

Cant knock them for trying, should always start low but that is pretty ridiculous.

Didn't watch the France Sweden match last night, did he play? If so, how was he? Think this signing would suit us down to the ground. Plus if Newcastle are after him he must be quite good (based on the quality of their recent signings!)

France was very average but I thought Debuchy was okay. He is Bossy with a brain in short IMO. Similar to Ash as well.

For under £10 million I don't think you can get a better RB than this boy, he has impressed me most of all from a very average France team this month.

Seems to have better decision making ability than Bossy while being a great option when going forward, an ideal back up to Ivan.

I would love to see Debuchy in a Chelsea shirt, think he is a top quality right back, loves to get forward. I still do like Gregory Van Der Wiel but I do prefer Debuchy, I would quite happily pay £10M for this fella.

What a back 5 we would have....... Cech, Debuchy, Terry, Cahill, A.Cole ........ I think JT has one more possibly 2 seasons left in him but i think we have a perfect replacement in David Luiz who has real potential he also loves to get forward! i dont think our defence will be much of a problem in the future!...

I presume Ivanovic would be our starting right back.
