Can this be real?

It looks intentional to me, as opposed to just booting it down the field to get it away from his end. A bit of a dangerous thing to do, but it worked in spades for the keeper.

Seen that a few times in games Ive played in, but its normally when the ball bounces over a keeper from a long boot. That was brilliant though, the other keeper had no chance of saving that.

Try as I might, due to the grainy video, I cannot pick up the ball until it is in the back of the net. Geez, was video quality that poor in the 60s?

The quality never seemed to be that bad back then, but then, we had nothing to compare it with.

One of the reasons you can't see the ball for quite a while is because Jennings hit it so high it went out of camera shot for a bit. Jennings was right by his own by-line when he kicked that, the man was a monster - and he had hands like shovels! Great keeper too.

Yeah, I remember Jennings, an excellent keeper. Thanks for clarifying, BB.

But thinking about it some more, if Jennings hit it so high, it seems to me that the ball bounces to the side of the keeper, and not over him (if I am seeing that portion correctly in the video). It seems weird that such a high kick would result in such a strange, low bounce.

The pitches were sh*te back then, compared to now - even at the beginning of the season. And the balls were different, quite heavier than todays. Here's another clip showing all the goals - even the commentator didn't know what to say when Jennings scored!

Thanks for that other video, BB. It clearly goes over the ManU keeper's head before it bounces once and then goes into the net, which is what I could not see in the original video.
