Daniel Sturridge not getting games?

Featured Replies

I'm going to keep this as simple as possible. Why doesn't he play? Also for those that believe Torres is a better option..Why? He's just turned 23 so the too young and unproven excuse doesn't hold water anymore, he's scored in double figures for the last two seasons without seeing a whole lot of the pitch. With all the attacking options we've brought in who's to say that he wont score 20+ goals this season playing down the middle. I get that we forked out a lot of money on Torres but when is enough going to be enough? This post isn't necessarily directed at those who prefer Torres but rather at those who think that Danny isn't good enough and more importantly those that think that he never will be. I'm sorry but the fact that he'd rather shoot then pass is not a good enough excuse, so please fire away. BTW I'm not referring to today's game because I know he pulled up with a "Hamstring."

2/3 games ago everyone was going mental and saying how amazing Torres was, now after a couple of bad performances we get "when is enough going to be enough?" questions. This is the problem, as soon as he has a couple of bad performances everybody panics, gets on his back and says that he's crap again. Just be patient, if this couple of bad games turns into a couple of months then start talking about dropping him, until then just let things gel.

I'm sorry but i'm not everybody. I have never been completely satisfied with Torres in a Chelsea shirt and I think im justified by the fact that I've watched practically his every touch in our shirt. To be honest with you I liked him better his first half season, it was at that time that you could of made the excuses you are making now for him. He was a lot more like the real Fernando Torres. To me at that time he was truly unlucky and maybe if he had a bit more luck he would be a different player today but I guess things just weren't meant to be for him with us. Now he just hits and hopes, he hasn't scored even one goal with finesse like he used to do for fun, he doesn't attack balls and just hides behind the defenders and I can go on about him forever but then I'd be doing the exact thing that I hate seeing most Chelsea fans do; Making it about Torres. My post isn't about Torres it's about Danny.

I do feel that Torres has more to offer us this season but i am struggling to see where he is going to get 20 goals from. I like strikers that can do a lot more then rely on players to do the work for them. Torres seems to rely solely on service from other players, without service he does little to nothing throughout the game. I think he has started the season ok so far and i hope he can grab 1 or 2 goals against Stoke on Saturday just to keep his confidence high. The guy is fragile right now and i feel if he goes on another run of games without a goal his Chelsea career could well be done.

I am beginning to believe we would be better off with Danny, or the on loan Lukaku, up top, rather than Torres.

If we played Danny he may sign a new deal at least...

I hope to see a few changes, Sturridge should get a start. Players need competition and a kick in the backside, I think it's time for Torres and a few others to get that. Jose could drop Ozil and Ramos after 2-3 bad games, I don't see why RDM can't do the same.

Totally Studge deserves a few chances up top, through the middle - in his right position. The gaffa doesn't quite seem to fancy him though so he'll be off in January when we bring another big name striker in.

It would take some balls of steal from Robbie to drop Torres for Studge for a few games. I really cant see it happening as Torres has higher status and cost a hell of a lot more. Things that shouldnt matter but actually do play a part.

Im sad to say that i think because of this we are going to lose one of the best young english strikers in the country next summer and to be honest who could blame him for leaving.

Stick with Torres for the Stoke game , play Sturrdige on Tuesday against Wolves . If Sturridge does a better job than Torres then give the game against Arsenal to Sturridge. That seems fair enough.

Should we drop hazard aswell who has had 3 average games in a row? People at the beginning of the season were saying give torres a chance this year it will all be different yet he has 2 pretty poor games and 1 decent one and suddenly he should be dropped and never seen again. Some people are just so fickle it's unreal. Van persie hasn't scored in a couple of games for united should he be dropped aswell?

Roman signed Torres for 50 mill so hes always gonna get the nod, whether its Sturridge or any other striker.

We have seen glimpses of the real Torres but no more, until RDM sorts out the midfield and a supply line for FT this

will continue.

I do feel Sturridge deserves a shout but think it will take an injury or suspension to Torres for that to happen in the prem or CL.

Last night highlighted the folly of only having two strikers, 100 mill on players and no subsitute available for Torres, Juventus on the other hand did - Quagliarella who scored the equalizer.

I would like to se Danny given a try up top, not necisarilly as a starter, but certianly rotated... We have limited options, so common sense would suggest he will get his chance at some point this season. lets be patient.

6 games have been played! there will be plenty of games for sturridge to participate in! RDM seems to be feeling his way to formulating a team by introducing the new players. sooner rather than later he will see how each players compliment the team. i hope!

I'd love to see Danny starting a game soon. Mainly because he has looked very lively in his cameo appearances this season, but also it wouldn't hurt to remind Torres that he needs to turn it up a notch if he wants to keep his place in the team.

Again.. Torres has been garbage and below average at best for the past two years. Please learn to comprehend the english language before making silly fanboy statements.

I'm not talking about the past 2 years am I you moron! We have brought in new players this summer to bring the best out of torres so I'm talking about this season. After 2 poor games out of 7 you think he should be dropped in favour of an unproven young striker? We'd all love to have a striker that plays amazing and scores in every game but apart from messi there just isn't one out there so whilst I "Grasp the english language" maybe you should grasp a bit of knowledge of football.

2 poor games out of 7?!?! He had a decent game at Newcastle and that's been it. You're so delusional. A striker that can't create his own chances even once in a while and depends on 100 million pounds worth of signings to support him is not fit to lead the line for the European Champions. Torres should be playing for a pub team. Even with spain, a midfielder was chosen over him as a false 9. To me, its a no brainer. We have two options at our disposal; one is a plague to our team and the other is a hungry, ENGLISH talent for which only the sky is the limit. There's a reason why almost every big team in the league is gunning for this " Unproven Young Striker," that just so happens to have scored in double figures for the last two seasons. Gimmie a break, he's 23 years old how is he going to become proven if he isn't playing week in week out.

The irony of you calling me delusional is hilarious. You said he can't create his own chances not even once in a while yet in the sentence before you state a game where that is exactly what he did. As for the other stuff you have put your lack of football knowledge really does shine through. Is that the same tournament he won the golden boot in we are talking about. Yes I know he didn't start a few of the games but there is no shame in that when it is for probably the best side to have ever graced football. I can tell you one thing and that is that sturridge couldn't even get into an average england squad. But you know more than del bosque don't you.

Anyway I ain't here to slag of sturridge like you are here to slag of torres. I don't know where you got the whole "every big team in the league" is after him from. As far as I was aware it was only liverpool who wanted him and that was only as a late panic signing after carroll was let go. Sturridge does deserve a chance but our attack has shown alot of good signs of gelling and to replace torres when he dosn't deserve to be replaced would be silly. Anyway as much as you and the majority on here want torres to be dropped it ain't happening so deal with it.

Okay now I think this might be just some man crush you got going on. Against Newcastle he hit and hoped and luckily it went it ( After a brilliant pass from Hazard might I add, which cannot be referred to as nothing ). That was a toe poke btw. He scored two goals against IRELAND and only won the golden boot because of an assist he made against a broken team. There will always be a shame in the fact that a 50 million pound striker is being replaced by a bench warmer at barcelona no matter how great the side. The reason Danny didn't get in the England squad is because of RDM and his reluctance to allow him adequate playing time and you pretty much contradicted yourself by mentioning that which is slagging. Also, the likes of Tottenham and City were after Danny as well just for your information oh knowledgeable one. Again I repeat you are delusional.
