The world? The ENTIRE World?!!! The WHOLE world?!!!

Also "...lack of ability..."? I've seen him, in games for Chels, when his skill and delicacy on the ball have amazed me. He is a predator - world class? Yes. Out of form? Also yes, but he has class.

youre also entitled to believe torres was better than any game messi has ever played last night... point is some opinions clearly hold more weight than others since people can be more educated in certain topics. not hard to grasp

i remember a lot of folks were pining for the guy to stay last season even though he had been proven an utter failure. "another season" they said, "he's got the players behind him now" they said. well, one season on with the lad given free reign at the helm and still producing jack to the massive detriment of our teams achievements (and no doubt being a helping factor toward a certain manager), and actually being outshone by the newly appointed january signing, some people have finally cottoned on and thought "hmm... maybe that YEAR AND A HALF period where he was one of the worst strikers in the world wasn't just a lapse in form..." (some people are still in denail over his lack of ability, which is beyond ludicrous)

basically, show why your opinion should be taken seriously and maybe then will it actually hold any weight in discussions. cheers!

So how are you more qualified than me or others in judging a strikers performance? I currently play as a striker for my local football team and although I don't think I'm an expert in the subject I do think actually playing the position week in week out gives you a better understanding than what you do which I suspect is sitting behind your computer screen repeating the same stuff day in day out. I may be wrong and you may be an ex pro striker who knows his stuff but I doubt it.

And by the way I was actually discussing last nights performance until you brought up the last 2 years for some unknown reason.

As supporters of 'big' teams, we think that 20+ goals-a-season strikers are the norm. However, at the top level of the game, the ability to score often, against first class defences is rare. This is (sorry to be obvious) why players attract £50 million price tags and, inter-alia, why Liverpool put up with Suarez. My point is that we can get too picky about strikers, and find fault too readily. You can't, imo, keep saying so-and-so is no Messi; who is? It's not a fair comparison. In a sense, only a big four team could have this sort of thread and not seem ridiculous. We're spoiled really and, as a result, some can't see the value or ability of Torres.

P.s. you want to complain about a striker, try Adebayor for comparison :-)

What a prick.

You are far too sensible to follow Sp*rs.

Who on earth are you to say whose opinions hold weight on here? That is one of the most arrogant statements I have ever read on the Shed End.

although information should be taken in singular stances foremost, when certain people have proven themselves muppets over time then their opinion will of course be more dubious due to their track record. this whole 'everyones free to an opinion' adage does not translate to "everyones opinion holds equal weight"— people often confuse the two

that 'out of form' ship sank a long time ago. he is done as a top footballer. times changes. maradona was once great, now he isn't,that doesnt mean he's just 'out of form'

That goes for you as well, doesn't it? :happy001:

yep. im usually right though.

Whoa - Maradona isn't out of form - he's 50! Who is in form at that age?

(Thfc signs off in a confused mental state...)

... implying there is a certain age poeople just drop off? nope. it varies. torres' time has already come, most likely due to injuries.

this is a silly argument anyway. i dont think even the most rabid of torres lovers would succumb to the thought of the guy being just 'out of form' these days.

People may have proved themselves to be muppets over time but I'd say you've done it within a matter of minutes!

vapid remark. next.

You would say that, wouldn't you? :happy001:

if it wasnt true then i wouldnt say it. im wrong about a lot of things (and happy to admit it when so), but not so much in the topic of football

Serious - off topic - question Onebelo: who is the girl in your avatar picture please? She's strikingly pretty.

it's a screenshot from the 1973 film "The Spirit of the Beehive" (awesome flick btw)

The nature if truth (as opposed to opinion) is a huge issue. There are very few instances, I reckon, when another person's considered view can be described as absolutely wrong (or vapid - poor choice of word there; you aren't going to convince anyone of your arguments by insulting them. Bluehatter's, etc views seem sound to me).

I'm sounding condescending - soz.

I appreciate the film info. Cheers for that onebelo.

You're not sounding condescending at all.  You're sounding reasonable and open-minded.

I was getting a bit Radio 4 - about to start a discussion about truth...

'...today on The Moral Maze, we ask: can truth ever be absolute; is it not shaped by the societal, cultural and...' etc. :-)

What do you think of Torres, Moi?

Have you thought about changing your name to onebellend?
