Luiz signs new 5yr deal

Featured Replies

I'd have taken £30m for him. personally don't think he is a great footballer. lacking in discipline / intelligence and he's not a kid who is wet behind the ears.

the difference between him and a gallas / carvalho is night and day.

great athlete, technically gifted but not ever a reliable player at the top level is my prediction for the remainder of his career.

He loves Chelsea, you can tell. They should make a sitcom about Luiz, Rami, Lucas and Oscar. Sound like a right bunch of fools when together :D

Thought he was quality today and with his natural speed will be awesome at 30, once he was the experience bit like cannavaro and maldini. Both quality in their 20's but probably the best in their positions in their early 30's.

Five more years of Sideshow Bob. That should give us enough time to sign one Homer, one Bart, one Burns and maybe a Moe.

And make our medical lady change her name to Patty or Selma

Now he's nailed on to be defender of the year at age 29

Great news. Barca can f*ck off then. Luiz has been playing a lot more consistently under RDM than he did before. I genuinely believe that, if he can mature and add more discipline/concentration to his game, then not only could we have a future captain but also potentially one of the best defenders in Europe.

Another reason to love him, he's been helping Oscar to settle:

"I take him every day to my house because he has no family over here. I know how hard it is when you don't speak the language. If you go to a restaurant for example and you don't know what food you're ordering it's difficult. I try to show Oscar and help Chelsea too."

What a hero.

Got me thinking; Ramires must have felt quite isolated when he moved over here, he'd only have been able to communicate with Paulo and Bossy, how much did this influence our decision to buy Luiz in january?

More importantly, can this influence that lad called Neymar? "Come here, Neymar. You'll understand more people here!"

I reckon Luiz and Oscar have a Terry/Lampard-style bromance going on :)

A bold post but I find myself agreeing somewhat. I've always thought Luiz was a defender tailor made for La Liga. His speed, skill with the ball, and desire to take the ball and drive the play forward himself make me think he would be an overnight hero in a more attacking league. Plus, given his flair for the spectacular I could see many of his flaws being overlooked, rather than having the likes of Gary Neville ridicule him.

That said, I am delighted he has signed on for more years. I do think he's gotten sounder in the past 8 months, so I hope that maybe his potential will be realized here. And if his longterm future is at another club (like one of the Spanish giants) I could see us getting at least 30m. Maybe more if he evolves as a defender.
