Tottenham v Chelsea 20/10/12 KO 12:45 BST

Featured Replies

Just under two weeks we now have to wait for this one, and I am already waiting with anticipation. This really is a must win game for us (how often we say that almost makes it seem meaningless I guess) for a number of reason.

For one Spurs are keeping a close pace to us early on and carry a lot of momentum having beaten United at OT. Beating them on their own turf would knock them back and allow us a good amount of breathing room (like we did when we beat Arsenal). Another is getting one over AVB, who you can be sure wants to get one over on us and Roman specifically. Not to mention it is a derby game and both ourselves and the Spurs fans want to get one over the other (and having to listen to them cheep on until we got a chance to set the record straight would be very annoying). Beat us and they will be calling themselves title contenders again...

I am left to worry all that has gone on of late will leave us facing a real struggle in the game though, red card(s) and/or pens given against/not given to us us a gut feeling.

How are my fellow Blues feeling for this one? Patients doing well?

There's a lot riding on this game for Twatenham. AVB will use extra extra big words to pump up and confuse his troops for this one. He'll probably ask them to "Strategically revolutionize and compartmentalize their respective inner constructive thought patterns" for this game.

I fear Bale running at Brana. Ivan's huge ass will need to put in a shift of mammoth proportions to stop him steaming by him.

Hope Rambo starts over Lamps.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Ramires shifted to the wing again for this to cover Bale.

To be honest I don't feel that worried, maybe I should be. But I don't. I felt the same way before the Arsenal game and look how that turned out. Tottenham are more than capable of taking points off of us but we can still beat them.

This will be the toughest test to date this season..I feel extremely worried about this match..Their mental attitude towards us has changed on the pitch over the last couple of years at W H L..Their team is quick and having had the amount of good results theyve enjoyed lately will be more than up for it..I reckon a draw at best unfortunately..This match will be a war of atrician..WHL will be a couldren of sound , that spuds players will rise to..I have no grind with AVB, but this event will be players of both sides trying their best..It will be a scenario for AVB versus RDM tactical nouce..It will be fans v fans..This match will certainly sort the men from the boys..I reckoned early season that we would lose no more than 3 matches all season..This one being a poss one (imo)

PMSL :laugh2:

Tricky one obviously, but no reason to think we can't beat them. We are the better side in vitrtualy all departments, and should/will prove to be just too much.

I think that as well. If we show up and get tactics right I dont see why we can't win. They haven't looked great this season, clung on against United. Im not saying we will win but I think we should if we play to our capabilities.

I'll gladly take a draw, but we haven't won there since 2005 so its about time that changed. We are superior to them in every department, so if we're firing on all cylinders we should win. However, you can bet your bottom dollar that AVB will fire his team up for this, and the Spurs fans are usually on good form when we come to their place. Will be a cracking game, and as I said, a point wouldn't be a bad result at all.

Haven't got the ticket yet for sure but looks like I'll be going. I've never been to WHL before on an awayday, so was wondering what pubs we generally go to beforehand? Or is just the same routine as for the home games but with a longer tube journey?

I think people are underestimating Spurs they have a ton of pace in attack and our defence hasn't been the best, I think we've got abit lucky at times. Also is JT ends up banned ill be very worried as we miss his inspiration and organisation when he's not in the pitch.

Dont think were underestimating, more stating that if we play to our full potential then we should win.

Agree with this completely, or if not Ramires there have him in the middle and bertrand stuck on Bale's flank. Unsure how I would like to see us lineup for this and i guess with the international break things may well change but at this stage i think something long the lines of:

----------------Cech

--Ivan--Gary-----Luiz----Cole

--------Mikel-----Ramires

--Bertand--Mata-------Hazard

----------Nando

Am I correct in assuming that JT's ban will have started by then?

Ramires will play the right wing for this , may even revert to a 433 to counter their strong midfeld. They are doing well lately, kind of got under the radar. However if we take our chances, I'm confident we can win. I hope RDM not revert to a defensive line up like the QPR game. I would play Moses in this one to surprise them, natural width, strong runner, will drag Bale back to defend.

This is a must win and after what I have seen so far, I am confident. Lets hope Scotland kick 7 shades of sh!te out of the chimp before we meet.

I really hate S*urs.

Don't forget we did recently smash them in the FA Cup Semi!

Confidence!

We did but that was at the usual stage of the season where Spurs fall flat. At this time of year they tend to be strong so do not think the semi-final does us any indication or favours for this one.

This is still the same Tottenham that lost to Newcastle, and drew West Brom and NORWICH CITY at home. Beating Man U was the first decent and major scalp for them. It is up to Tottenham now to prove this run of four wins is actual substance and that the quality on their squad is legitimate. The need this to prove that they are not paper tigers. True it will be tough as it is a derby, but they surely have not put a stamp on this season yet.

Like said, a must win - can't imagine losing to AVB but once again a win here and we further prove our credentials I feel we'll lineup completely the same as we did vs. Arsenal, they aren't as attacking as Arsenal but players like Dembele & Vertonghen also get forward, Ramires & Mikel SHOULD start for us in this one, don't see why they wouldn't, have been superb with Oscar to provide the cover again, don't think their defense is as good as Arsenal's in open play & if we take the game to them we'll be too strong.

-------------------Cech----------------------

Ivanovic----Luiz-----Cahill-------Cole---

--------------Mikel-----Ramires------------

Mata-------------Oscar-----------Hazard

-------------------Torres--------------------

I'm worried about this one. I have a feeling AVB is going to get one over on us, it'd be just typical.
