Posted February 19, 201312 yr Anyone has been following him? I have caught him in only few televised games. In which position is he exactly playing. Do you guys think he has a future at Chelsea?
February 19, 201312 yr Can't remember the last time I saw a young player at our club who I was so certain was going to become a top International. That was when he was 16 and unfortunately, for whatever reason, he hasn't progressed as he should have. Such a talent but I do fear he won't get a chance with us. He started really well at Boro and has made the England U21 team but of late he is getting subbed every game and Boro are on a shocking run. Maybe he's homesick? Maybe we should recall him and show him he's loved? Then again, with the FSW here that won't do him any favours.
February 19, 201312 yr Author He has great potential. It is for this reason its important to sign Lampard up. He can obviously guide players like Josh,KdB while they are still developing. Surely thats more cheaper than signing another midfielder for a bomb ?
February 19, 201312 yr What age did Tom Cleverly start to show real signs of promise? Fairly sure he is 23 and only just got into the United team. I think there is plenty of time for Josh to develop yet, a dip in form is all part of the learning curve.
February 19, 201312 yr I dont think he will make it with us. I think he will go on to play for a club, maybe a championship club or a team like Wigan but not at the top end of the Premiership. I hope he proves me wrong though. It would be nice to have some of our players come through.

That's very true, but unfortunately for Josh (and any other youngster for that matter) at Chelsea, patience isn't something that we're well know for, so a dip in form usually spells the end (unless your name is Torres!)
February 19, 201312 yr Don't know what all the fuss is about with Josh. He isnt and never will be good enough. If he manages to just be a squad player it will be a miracle. Nothing against the lad or anything. He seems a very nice guy.

Who knows. Further restrictions with FFP and wage structures etc might mean the clubs are more likely to promote from within. Josh is still very young, personally I think he needs to secure himself a loan to a Premier League team next season to continue his development.

Nothing against the lad or anything. He seems a very nice guy. You've obviously followed him very closely to have formed that opinion.
February 19, 201312 yr If he did stay with us and got game him he would be a John O'shea type player, didnt play every week and was just a squad player.
February 19, 201312 yr I think some of you underestimate him, he's got great control, a great first touch, can play some really tidy and killer passes. His progression has stalled a little, but that's mostly cos we wasted a whole year last year playing him for about 60 minutes in the CC and then sending him to Swansea where he was never picked, but if he picks it up again he could easily go on to be a first team player and probably play for England as well.
February 19, 201312 yr Josh has to be a success; somebody has to shut up the media's insufferable w**king over the overrated Jack Wilshere. Josh will be the player they all seem to think Wilshere is.

Nothing against the lad or anything. He seems a very nice guy. You clearly never watched him when he first broke into the first-team at sixteen. Still remember his first game against Newcastle in CC. We lost the match but no one cared to much for it after the match, Josh looked like a world-beater. He then played against Marseille as a defensive midfielder and was the man of the match in France. A bloody shame that we didn`t make room for him the following season. Instead we sent him to Brendan Rodgers and Swansea where he never played and ovbiously stagnated. Think it will be hard for him to make it now with De Bruyne and Chalobah who looks better atm.
February 19, 201312 yr For those who may have missed it. Josh on his time on loan at Swansea: After being fast tracked by his great mentor Carlo Ancelotti, McEachran's career had seemed to stall suddenly with a loan at Swansea under Brendan Rodgers – a fellow paid-up subscriber to the Barcelona school of football – ending in unexpected disappointment. "It was one of those things in life which just didn't work out," he says. Pressed on what he learned in south Wales, the reply is: "Nothing." A question about his opinion of the current Liverpool manager provokes an uncharacteristically coy "I'll pass on that". Basically a wasted chance of his development.

I wrote something almost identical to that a couple of seasons ago. Now I have to take it back though as Wilshere is NOT over-rated and looks as though he is going to be Englands most gifted midfielder since Gazza. He is playing now at the top level how Josh was playing for the youth team. Having the confidence to take people on and just glide past them. He seems to have the confidence and the bit of aggression in his game that Josh is clearly lacking - maybe because his club have shown a bit more faith in him. Still have hopes that McEachran will partner Wilshere in England's midfiled for years to come - Wilshere said as much himself in an interview a while back.

Haha, deep down inside I know that Wilshere is excellent, I just really don't like him and I'm a bit blue that McEachran hasn't been as spectacular as we were hoping so far. Tonight Wilshere was really the only member of the Arsenal midfield (apart from Cazorla I guess) who looked like he had the quality and the fight to succeed in the Champions League.

I like Wiltshere, for an Arsenal player. He backed us before the champions league last season & is a top player. Would love him at Chelsea, but think he will be at Barcelona within 3 years. Sadly I don't think Josh will ever make it at ours, a Boro fan I know said he's been off form lately too. Challobah looks more likely to get in the side I reckon.
February 19, 201312 yr Couple of good points from forever carefree and ishangodbole 1.he is still relatively young forva commanding midfield role 2. Lamps should be mentoring him, alas this is a symptom of not having a longer term manager and not signing on Lamps for life, the club is mad ! I have a friend of mine is a big boro fan, he says pretty much what Nibs said... Started really well (with the odd moment of brilliance) but has tailed off a bit it has coincided with a bad run of form for boro With the right nurturing great potential still I think.
February 19, 201312 yr Unfortunately, I don't think he'll make it at Chelsea. A very good technical player, at times but (due to size) not imposing enough for me ...
February 20, 201312 yr sorry but i think i will take the opinion of carlo. the lad is only 18 and there is plenty of time for him to reach his potential. if given a chance.
February 20, 201312 yr He has great potential, I think he can make it with us provided the club put a bit more faith in their youth.

Surely thats more cheaper than signing another midfielder for a bomb ? Roman, are you listening? Sign him up and let him not only be the player we all know he is, regardless of age but more importantly, Lampard has so much more to offer! It would be an utter travesty if Roman does not sign Lampard. I personally think it'll happen but if its not, shame on Chelsea! A total f*cking disgrace it would be to let him leave...
February 20, 201312 yr I'm sorry but i just can't see McEachran making it, he seems to be going backwards. A few games at Chelsea, a pointless loan to Swansea, and a so so season loan at Middlesbrough. Ok he is still young but the way i see it the best he can hope for at Chelsea is to become a squad player. We have so many players in midfield, already here and on loan, and it's almost impossible to break through that in my opinion.

From what I hear from my friend who's a M'boro fan he's been their best player and was one of the main reasons they were doing so well in the league and a dip in form from him and the rest of the M'boro squad isn't enough to make his season all of the sudden "so so". At the moment it's too soon to tell if he'll be a success or not.
February 20, 201312 yr He will play at the top level that is for sure, whether it is the elite, Is down to us and Him. one of the reasons i would have loved to have Pep G here is because he has faith in young, quality players and gives them a chance to develop properly at the top level.
