Subs warming up

Featured Replies

Anyone noticed Rafa started making our subs warm up towards the away fans, rather than towards the MHL? It was inevitable it was going to lead to problems, as it did with Terry yesterday having to warm up in front of their lot. They taunted him, he had a bit of fun at their expense, and it led to coin-throwing, and even more bad blood.

As far as I recall, Rafa changed it after Torres was booed for the first time. My suspicion being that he didn't want Torres warming up in front of the MHL when he was sub.

The fourth official (Webb) yesterday made the subs warm up towards the MHL after the incident, and that's as it should be according to the rules I believe, because of the position of the linesman.

Anyone else noticed this or got any thoughts, or can correct me on any of the above?

Edit: Rafa had quite a lot to say to Webb after the subs were made to warm up the other way. To me it's clear this goes against his preference.

Anyone see when JT was warming up and he did that hamstring stretch and pointed his ass towards the wet spam fans. Apparently he was lifting up trophies to taunt them as well.

I always thought that the subs weren't allowed to warm up behind the line the linesman is running, not sure if this is in case they get in his way or try to influence him. But I have been told that they shouldn't warm up on the opposite side to the linesman in case they get in his eye line which would make more sense to me.

Terry was class though, cracked me up.

Subs always usd to warm up on the MHL side but if my memory serves me correctly that changed from the start of this season where they now warm up on shed end side closest to the away fans. I am pretty sure this was in place before Rafa to be honest but never the less it is a good point for debate and something I was thinking of starting a thread for anyway.

It really does seem a very strange decision to change it and almost give a bit of advantage to the away side, however small that advantage may be. It's not something that probably effects players all that much, (we all enjoyed Terry in front of the pikeys yesterday) but when trying to increase morale and confidence in our own players whilst trying to do the opposite to the away team surely we should take advantage of being the home side and therefore players should warm u in front of the MHL for obvious reasons.

first home game of the season vs Reading the players warmed up towards the shed end. dont think it matters in any way though, players are pretty used to being jeered by fans, especially JT!

If this has all come from fans booing Torres, then it's the fault of the fans and not the FSW.

It doesn't matter how sh*t he is, we don't boo our own players. We're not Arsenal for god's sake.

Don't blame it on Sczesny, don't blame it on Koscielny, don't blame it on Ramsey, BLAME IT ON EBOUE!

Nothing to do with Torres at all and not sure why you even think that and nor is it anything to do with FSW either. Our subs have been warming up towards the Shed End from the start of this season when the Messiah was still our manager

I want to know why, from the pics above , that our SECURITY, inanely grinning at spams antics and scared to go in and deal with them, why our security "men" dont inanely grin when their own fans stand up, and feel thrilled to tell us to sit down or be thrown out....Cowardly unloyal c**ts

The West Ham fans all look gay, especially that c**t in the Hollister - teenage girl clothes...

We ll leave you to go tell em they all look gay.....tell us when you leave hospital....hahah

I am aware that the opinion coming out the pikey camp after Sunday is the complete opposite- they have been accusing the stewards of being very heavy handed and over the top, ejecting a few of the pikeys with no explanation etc and also celebrating when we scored and baiting the pikeys in doing so.

In relation to the pictures you mention the stewards could just have easily been laughing at JT and the reaction of the pikeys and there is not much they can do about a few verbals and w**ker signs- they would end up having to chuck the entire away end out.

I do agree that it is quite annoying how the stewards are obviously told to turn a blind eye to the away fans standing but don't often extend that to the rest of the ground. To be fair I didn't sit down once on Sunday- on one occasion a steward tried a very half arsed and feeble attempt to get everyone to sit down but was ignored by the majority and when a few people did start down someone started a chorus of 'stand up if you hate tottenham' and his previous few minutes work were all undone in seconds. He minced off back down the stairs with a stupid grin on his face after that and didn't bother trying again.

If they are the facts. Then fair dos....I must admit from where i was seated i didnt see any spammers ejected...If they were then.....GGGGRRRREEEAAAATTTT..

FA rule - you cannot warm up behind the linesman

Aw really? But that doesn't fit into the current mind-set of some Shed Enders who tend to opt for the turgid conspiracy theories :(
