Our New Stadium

I think the fa would like to accommodate both of us, money wise. but what are the conditions laid down for the amount of games, it could rattle up with the cup games, european Matches (hopefully) replays etc.

I think it was reprted that Wembley was allowed to host an unlimited amount of sub 55k games, although I cant imagine the locals being too happy having two sides possibily playing 50+ home games between them in Wembley every year for 3 years.

I think the FA said last September that would be happy with us and Spurs playing there. Not surprising giving that the FA will probably take a cut of monies. As Delnino has written the locals and also Brent Council may not be happy with 50 or so extra games being played there each season. At the moment, I guess that Wembley is only used 20 or so times a year.

Maybe - but local businesses would be delighted.

IMO the obvious common sense and logical thing for the FA to do is to agree for both clubs to ground share, with each team playing on alternate Saturday's or Sunday's etc,etc

However the FA could decide to sit back, enjoy making us all sweat, be greedy and just sit back and play one off against the other and create a bidding war!

I was reading last night how the FA tried to charge Bradford fans £2000 to surf their big flag across their fans in memory of the 56 fans killed in the fire disaster when Bradford were in the League cup final the other year, greed & the FA go hand in hand the tossers.

The Blazers at the FA are interested in the money, because they obviously need to pay off the big re-building debts, that's why they arrange so many meaningless friendly ! Friendly Ha,ha, ha ! England matches !

I don't think the council will object, because .........A.) the business community will love the extra income and this will create new temporary jobs in the surrounding area hotels, bars and restaurants.

B.) the residents shouldn't have a problem as the stadium is not that close to people's houses.

Also for most of the matches, the FA could also impose a limit in respect of the Crowd to 50,000 (by closing off some of the higher tier seats) a crowd limit of 50,000 would be more easily manageable for transport, policing bills and security reasons etc. They could trial the crowd limit thing.

It may delay a decision by the FA, they'll want to hear local residents objections to two teams playing there for 12months every weekend for 9months.

They'll also not want to show favourtism to either side even if we did explore Wembley first, by all accounts.

If it was solely down to the FA, it makes great economic sense to take the £15m offered by both and squeeze us both in for the season around either 1 away and the other at home for the year, or if needs be, throw one of us down for Friday night, early Saturday, for the Champs League and the other down for Sunday, if theyre in the Europa League.

Friday football is starting up again from next season so it might be an avenue thats explored. We wont be in the Top 4 but for the future, the FA should schedule those slots to the Champs League teams and give them more rest for games, especially towards the K/O stages.

I know Sky and BT have the final say when it comes to TV scheduling but surely all parties can come to some understanding.

The thing I'm the most worried about regarding us sharing Wembley with Spurs is how well the pitch will hold up when you take into account that there will be played 36 league matches, many cup games, both domestically and in Europe + international fixtures over the course of a season. I mean, how will the pitch look when we enter January 2018?

This is the big one. The nail has been hit firmly on the head.

Doesnt Wembley have pitch issues as it is?

If we and Spurs do share Wembley and we both have good runs in the cups and European matches that could be about 55-60 games played by the two teams. Plus there are the England matches; American Football games' the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final; a few Rugby Union Matches a few concerts( I think Coldplay are playing a few gigs there this year): that is a lot of "strain" on the pitch. As AnIrishTrueBlue has written there have been problems with the pitch in the past and it has to be re-laid at least once. If I remember correctly our players complained about the state of the pitch after the 2007 FA Cup Final. The ground-staff are going to have their work cut out.

Could end up like the pitch in the 1970 Cup Final.

They do that at the San Siro, so there is a way I guess.

Who cares about the pitch, am sure they have the technology to deal with that, the FA would have the money to buy the best machinery and specialist pitch staff to deal with that.

The main thing is ...llllwe need to have a decent stadium in London to play our games in and I can't see any other options available to us.

Question, isn't Twickenham closer to Fulham than Wembley? And if so, why isn't the club trying to play in Twickenham?

Worst stadium ever to get to/from been there a couple of times and it's been hellish on each occasion. Couldn't handle it every other weekend IMO.

Not if you have a sister in walking distance of the stadium  .  But the residents would hate it! :laugh2:

Joking aside, it depends of course where you live - if - and I guess it's a big if - you can get to Waterloo or Clapham Junction, it's a doddle.  Just like if you can get to the District Line, Stamford Bridge is easy.  But really both only have one line close to the stadium.

But I've only just sat down after a long evening, so I'm probably wrong!  Please be gentle, I've worked hard today and my brain is addled.

BQ or Gem, where would you want CFC to play at? I like the idea of Craven Cottage, but I am sure it's too small right?

I think that when Twickenham was redeveloped in the nineties there was an agreement with the local council (Richmond) that the ground would only be used a certain number of times a year. Sorry, can't remember the number. Even if the RFU was content for us to play there, the council would object.

Have been to Twickenham a couple of times to watch rugby internationals and to get to the station you have to close a major road - police have to stop the traffic. It would be handy if there was a bridge.

We'll get the Wembley. The FA can't resist their greed

then that would be a better argument for Craven Cottage. Is Charlton's Valley close enough?
