Ivanovic to PSG?

Featured Replies

With consideration for FFP, Ivanovic to PSG in exchange for Ibrahimovic?

Zlatan? You kidding me? Just want we need, a selfish arrogant posturing all about me striker...

Let's sign Ballotelli too....

If that is true it's a testament to his development as a footballer. Ivanovic came to Chelsea as a clumsy centre-back, now he's so good that Guardiola wants him in his ten-man midfield. Kudos to him.

Ivanovic was playing as a rb long before he came to chelsea

I didn't know that, then again I can't pretend I watch Lokomotiv Moscow particularly often. I seem to remember us playing them during a pre-season tournament a few years ago and losing on penalties, but I might even be conflating them with one of the other Moscow teams.

I saw Ivanovic playing for Lokomotiv when I was living in Aberdeen, at a UEFA cup match at Pittodrie back in 2005/6 I think. I was impressed with how solid he looked then... incredible to think how far he's come since!

I don't disagree about the arrogance, but personally couldn't care less. In terms of workrate/contribution I don't think he'd do anything less than Drogba currently does, is still more than capable of 10+ goals per season, and for me is still one of the best target men currently in world football. The club would be nuts to pass up the chance to sign Zlatan.

And no disrespect to Drogba because I worship the ground he walks on, but he is finished now we would be swapping like for like not improving and also coughing up 200k a week for Zlatan to frown, puff his chest out etc etc.

We can get younger, hardworking and cheaper (wages) strikers than him.

Also Drogba is a team player who is a brilliant presence to have in the dressing room, as well as a great guiding hand for any younger player who needs advice, and one who has experience of winning (and being key to us winning) just about every trophy going. Ibrahimovic is... not.

Ibra is now past coming here.

He's on the decline and takes a massive wage, he's not the kind of player who will take a Remy role never mind a Drogba one. He's all about himself and needs to be centre of attention.

3-4 years ago 100% I'd take him, now it just wouldn't work.

yeah, but people still persist with labeling him a converted CB and assuming his preferred position is CB. hes actually a natural RB and i hink he said, on numerous occasions, he doesnt partucularly care which position he plays

Fair point, but I always thought he v always seemed uncomfortable playing fullback earlier on in his Chelsea career. Tended to stay central a lot and didn't like to go out wide to meet the wingers. There was a period where he was part of a very solid central defence, whoever the player beside him in defence was.

Would be happy to sell him and bring in Kalas as the replacement, a younger alternative who has potential to surpass ivanovic and already showed his class against liverpool last season

And that's why you're not the Chelsea manager.

Awful idea.

If you had it your way you would replace most of our first team players with youngsters. Kalas is nowhere near Ivanovic's level.

I wouldn't have ever had Ibra here, massively overrated player imo

He's past his prime now, but I reckon we would've won the league last season if he'd been at Chelsea. Not saying we should go for him, though. Too late for that.

How would a new contract go though?

Do we not have a policy of only 1 year extensions with the over 30's? I think Ivan will want some sort of long term security, be interesting to see if we give out a longer deal for him.
