Ivanovic to PSG?

Featured Replies

Ivan has been a great player for us but he is now 30 with two years remaining on his current contract, so if we are offered £15m for him straight cash deal we should bite their hands off.

Why don't we sell all of our players and get profit and buy others?

I mean seriously we have sold/released more than 4-5 players this season already(4 of them were fan favourite) and Ivanovic is such a respected figure I just can't imagine.

I dont really see how any of them factor into a decision regarding Ivan, other than Luiz who can play CB/DM. The club shouldn't be playing favourites with the players they sell, as they've already got rid of far better servants than Ivanovic.

Ivan is already the wrong side of 30, and with the club's one year contract policy this is the last chance to get good money for him. If we can get enough money to fund one top defensive prospect coming in, then I just don't see how we could logically turn down any bid north of 20 million, for a defender who is already strongly tested at times for pace and is likely going be 32 by time he gets to be the starting CB again.

While I mostly agree with that, selling Ivanovic leaves us without any quality cover for RB/LB. Not sure thats a good idea

With Ake, Kalas, Bertrand and Zouma I really wouldn't mind using some of the younger players as the backups plus any other signings - plus I already see Ivanovic as expandable as he has been stuck at RB for ages, rather than CB where he is far better.

Arsenal want to make a shock move for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic as they plan for life after Thomas Vermaelen.

Gunners captain Vermaelen, who is a target for Manchester United, wants to leave the club this summer in search of regular first-team football.

And reports in the Serbian media say Arsenal want 30-year-old Ivanovic to move across London to replace him at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger is said to be a huge fan of the imposing centre back, with the Frenchman also keen on his ability to play at right-back, where Arsenal are short of bodies after losing Bacary Sagna to Manchester City.

Ivanovic’s Chelsea future is cloudy with Gary Cahill and John Terry both seen as first choice, while exciting youngster Kurt Zouma is highly-rated by Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal believe they could tempt the Blues to part with the fan favourite for about £7million.

7 bloody millions?? LOL

One of our best defenders and a great leader. Worth at least 18 million. Even then Arsenal and PSG can f**k off.

If he were 5 years younger then his transfer fee would be north of £15 million but alas he isn't so I would guess IF we were to sell him the fee would be between £7 &£10 million

He's a beast of a defender.

EPL titles , CL title and EL title behind him..,he's not going for less than 15 million and certainly not to arsehole

Lucky it's the Metro or I'd be concerned.

The idea of us selling the man who should be in any conversation to be the next captain of the football club to anyone is ludicrous, let alone to Arsenal. Replacing Vermaelan with Ivan would mean they'd be getting an upgrade and a significant one.

Exactly, these idiots had valencia going to liverpool yesterday, he signed a new contract today. Bunch of chancers.

Chelsea have yet to make a formal offer of a new contract to Branislav Ivanovic.

The 31-year-old defender has been outstanding this season adding vital goals to his defensive performances but he is out of contract next year.

Jose Mourinho has asked the club to sort out a new deal and Chelsea have every intention of making him an offer but it is unlikely to be more than a one-year deal with another one-year option

Paris St Germain and Real Madrid are both monitoring Ivanovic's situation with Chelsea unlikely to discuss any new contract until the end of the season.

Ivanovic is settled at Chelsea and a popular figure among staff and team-mates but knows he could wait until January and sign a pre-contract with greater security at another club.

Meanwhile, Bolton want to take young Chelsea struiker Islam Feruz on loan for the rest of the season.

The only problem is age, but I believe he will play as good as now untill the age 35-36. So, I don't believe we would even think about selling him.

It's not the selling him though. We only offer 1 year deals to 30+ so he may decide to leave for a more secure 3 year deal somewhere.

Don't know about the rest of you but I don't like the 1 year deal only for 30+, think they should raise it to 32 at least and access each individual depending on fitness, injuries etc.

I heard he was gonna be given a 4 yr contract, talksport this morning?

Not a chance. Every player at the club that is 30 or over will get 1 year deals. If Ivanovic suddenly got a 4 year deal at the age of 31, players like John Terry would be very annoyed that they couldn't get similar deals at that age.

Yes but not around £20m, can't see Mourinho selling it though. Have you seen his average position in most games? His lack of recovery coupled with JT's lack of pace is a disaster that any top manager will punish. Take away his goals and what are you left with?

Bayern Munich entered into the race after Ivanovic.

If that is true it's a testament to his development as a footballer. Ivanovic came to Chelsea as a clumsy centre-back, now he's so good that Guardiola wants him in his ten-man midfield. Kudos to him.
