I wouldn't be against selling him, but to utd? Although he hasn't been the same player he was in his first season here, he still has strengths which would would compliment pogba and herrera. With those two around him rather than solely kante, he could well be a great addition to utd.

As someone else mentioned, go have a peak in a few match day threads and you'll be in for a shock at what people say about players. Am i only allowed to critisize players that haven't won silverware with the club? Torres won two European medals but he was a bit sh*te in my memory. Or is that ungrateful?

Personally, I think 40m is good business for a player who was so poor in our title defending seasons. I do rate him highly and his first 6 months back at the club was the best DM in the world in that period with the exception of possibly Veratti at that time, thats judging only by CL games which he could afford to get well up for. 

Judging by stats, Matic covers far more ground that people generally realise. Without being classy I feel he's an annoyance for opposition teams being there. 20/30/40 million, does it really matter anymore what the fee is in todays market. I think he looks a perfect fit for United and if they only get  two years of his best out of him then it will be money well spent by them. I would rather sell to Juve as makeweight for Sandro possibly if it it was possible although this rarely happens in modern day football. We are getting a replacement(albeit I have my doubts about Bakayoko) who is 5 years younger for cheaper than the 40 million and it plays right into the ethos of our club the past 10 years where we only buy players who we can resell at same price or ever over. It is a good way to do it for the club and we have done very well with this(Lukaku,Shurrle,Salah,De Bruyne) albeit the wrong decision on De Bruyne, the list goes on. 

All in all, club will be looking to cash in regardless of which club if 40m is available. If Baka does not work out then he will be sold for 40 million in 2 years time.

Was fantastic for the 1st Title Win. No arguments about that one.

Past 2 seasons has been appalling.

One good goal against the Y*ds is all he's contributed the past 2 seasons.

Disgustingly one footed, useless aerially, minimal amounts of pace, realistically offers nothing in the final third. Quite easily the worst player in our starting XI. Kante deserves a medal for the job he did hiding these deficiencies last season as well as he did.

If we want to compete on all fronts next season then Matic isn't good enough for that.

Why is it so hard for fans to show some respect to current players who have contributed in the past. Why feel the need to call them Donkeys, c**ts, pricks all kinds of garbage. So he didnt play well last season, that doesn't mean he has to be labelled as those kinds of things for f**ks sake. It is all over social media this kind of sh*t, its a real shame its made it onto this forum now.

There has been no "melt down". 

When you called Matic a donkey, I said "really?" to which you replied "yah"..... had you perhaps actually responded with an argument of some substance, some logic, then I am sure we could have traded opinions in a respectful manner. 

I can only assume that someone who replies with "yah" when questioned about a post mocking one of our players, isn't that interested in debating the finer points. 

I avoid Match day threads for the very reason you mention, but would be more undertanding of things said in the heat of the moment whilst a match is live to be honest.

Ivanovic contributed untold amounts to this club but i would also label him as a donkey or hindrance towards the end of his tenure. Pointing out that someone ain't that good anymore ain't disrespectful, it's just stating the obvious.

Calling someone a donkey isn't quite the same as calling someone a c**t or a prick.. Those are personal insults about someone, referring to someone as a donkey is just highlighting that they aren't a great footballer anymore.

I see these sorts of criticisms aimed at quite a few of our players. 

Cahill is seen as a poor defender, Alonso wasn't deemed good enough for large portions of the season. Costa apparently was useless for half the season. (All of which scrutinised for having massive weakness to their game such as lack of pace, poor first touch etc.).

And yet, despite a third of the outfield players being nigh on useless, we somehow managed to romp home to a very convincing title win... 

I just wonder, at what point do we acknowledge that these players did a good job this season? Yes they may be sold or replaced in the team but this narrative that they are a detriment to the team is a bizarre one to me.

Cahill is a solid defender prone to mistakes. Not fantastic. Not a donkey. He's just Gary.

Alonso was quietly one of our best players last season. People just overreacted that he wasn't a MASSIVE name signing and some of his older clubs were questionable.

Diego is Diego. He's by no means useless but has the ability to frustrate beyond belief. His ability is not in question. Just his motivation (or lack thereof) after January.

In regards to Matic though, yes he's part of a title winning side, but in comparison to every other player his performances were not to scratch. His only blessing was Kante hid this for long periods of the season. For me if I were lining up against Chels with Matic in the lineup he'd be the first player if aim to exploit. It's ridiculous tbh

I remember when Scolari was in charge and Drogba was off form, people were wanting him gone and said we should swap him for Adriano. Could you imagine if that had actually happened? We get rid of someone who would turn out to be one of our greatest ever players for Adriano of all people. Damn

I agree with criticizing players but there's no point abusing them
