Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Featured Replies

Really don't want to see is spending 75 million on any player tbh. We haven't had the best of luck with big money bus and would rather we bought the best player for the team.

Costa isn't the world best striker but he's the perfect striker for us. Individual brilliance is fine but not at the expense of the team.

Unlikely...

That's probably the same thing utd said about pogba. He reminds me of yaya toure when he plays, though, with his direct, powerful runs. I think we have to put faith in him in the future though.

How many players in the World are at the same level as Pogba in midfield? Ten? Maybe less?

My point being that, that level of talent is pretty few and far between, which is why they are valued so high... So the likelihood that we have a potential world's best player in our youth team is unlikely.

Maybe I'm being extremely cynical but lets not pretend we haven't been here before thinking our promising youth player is going to flourish into a mega star.

I think it's more likely that history repeats itself then having that one in thousands true top quality player there.... I hope I'm proven wrong but until I see something to convince me otherwise, I remain cynical.

Some rumours about Juventus wanting to spend money from a possible Pogba transfer on Oscar :

I would have done that transfer, if we got Pogba in return for no more then £20mil and managed to convince Real Madrid to part with Isco for about £30mil-£40mil. We could sell Ramires and Mikel to bring down expenses.

Central Midfield: Matic, Pogba, *Fabregas, Loftus Cheek

Attacking Midfield: Isco, *Fabregas. Hazard, Cuadrado, Willian

I'd just play pogba in the number 10. Wouldn't be fussed about isco.

You'll need players like Oscar and Ramires to make up for Pogba's lack of workrate and defensive abilities.

Oscar isn't a defensive player by any stretch, but Mourinho forces him to have a high defensive work-rate.

Pogba is better at defending in terms of being aggressive when he wants to be and having an imposing stature. I GUARANTEE that under Mourinho he'd have that work-rate Mourinho wants.

Oscar already had the workrate and was showing it for Brazil before we signed him.

Someone compared Pogba to Toure and that's true in every sense of the word, when he wants to play well and put a shift in he's unstoppable but those moments are few and far between. That may be so but I wouldn't be willing to lose either Oscar or Ramires to find out.

Is Pogba the new Rues, the player we should be selling half our title leading squad for because apparently are current side is crap by comparison and we should be spending everything to buy him and we'd be idiots not to?

When it comes to workrate and attitude on the pitch, Toure and Pogba are nothing alike.

Pogba may not have the workrate of oscar, but hes certainly not a burden when the team is defending. Not to mention skill-wise, Oscar and Pogba are miles appart.

You wouldn't want us to sign either Pogba or Reus if they were available to us within FFP limits?

What I don't like is how the likes of Rues and Pogba when discussed by some are spoken about in a way that belittles members of the current squad who have played more than just a small part in getting us top of the league, into a cup final and progressed in the Champions League.

Our players are apparently sh*t by comparison or we need to sell X, Y and Z players to buy whoever.

I just find it disrespectful to the current players and I think it can make people sound ungrateful about how privileged a position we are in as a club and as fans.

This squad hasnt won a single trophy, just saying.

The definition of a privileged fan.

What do you even mean by that? The squad has changed in every single transfer window. So this exact squad hasn't had a chance to win anything. They're doing pretty well by being in a cup final and easily clear at the top of the league though.

If you don't mean this exact squad I'm not quite sure what your point is, as plenty of players have won a trophy with us (we won the Europa League the season before last). Not to mention the likes of Ivanovic, Cech, Drogba, Terry etc have won plenty of things.

This squad hasnt won a single trophy, just saying.

What exactly is your point?

Did I say the squad had won anything? (seeing as we have yet to play the first cup final of the season no one has won anything yet)

I did point out the excellent position we currently find ourselves in at this stage of the season which I don't think can be disputed.

Are you saying that we aren't going to win anything?

Or are you saying that until we win everything the team is sh*t?

A fair few of the current squad have won a European trophy (or two) which is more than Paul Pogba can say by the way.

I would rather Sissoko over Pogba tbh, and he would cost a 1/3 of the price. Every time i see Sissoko play i like the look of him as another less costly option for central midfield.

This squad is probably better judged at the end of the season. The fact that we're talking about Reus and Pogba only shows the quality of the squad compared to a time when names like N'zogbia and Ireland were getting thrown around. This is the calibre of player we now need to look at to improve our starting xi and I do agree that we should always keep looking to improve. Even a treble winning squad can have weak links.

That this team is still a level below the likes of Real Madrid, Barca and Bayern and can be improved

I must have missed the part when Barca recently won consecutive European trophies.

The current Champions League holders didn't win their domestic title last year.

It's all well and good holding up those sides as beacons if perfection because of their player ratings on FIFA or whatever but no team is perfect.

That said, we're sitting pretty where we are right now and I stand stand by my earlier comments.

If we were a mid table team i would agree, Sissoko isn't anywhere near good enough for us.

and yet, 4 times out of 5, wed get knocked out by that same Barca, IMO ofc
