I don't see how anyone can criticize Benzema, I think he would be a quality signing if Madrid signed the likes of Falcao/Saurez. He's in a team where Ronaldo gets a massive chunk of the goals. You put Benzema in the A.Madrid team that Costa was in and I am sure he'd match or better that goal tally.

As said "will do anything" or "die for the team" might sound harsh to someone and put people off but if you think about it no one will die or get seriously hurt if he puts in a little elbow or says "puta" to an opposite player. We need a tough player up front who is willing to face big defenders. Prem is full of big nasty center backs.

I'm not a fan of his antics but I'm not put off by them either too much as long as he delivers. Atletico fans love him. Why? Yes, exactly he is a great player.

Benzema is a great player and I'd take him as well but why would he leave Real and there are no actual rumours of him willing to come to Chelsea. Not sure why we are even talking about him to be honest...

That's the one thing that warms me slightly to Costa, is the fact we are lacking tough characters, and he does look like he would diVe for the team.

I'm worried by his antics.

The FA will go to town with him if he does the same things as he has done with Atletico, we will hardly see him if he fails to control that nasty side of his game.

You can 'live and die' for the club without being a thug...just look at Lamps, Drogba and Terry for goodness sake.

I think there will be a lot of defenders in the league that will enjoy winding him up, that's my only worry. I think he will do well cause he will put himself about and hopefully get himself in the right positions. 

 

Torres never goes to the ball, he always waits for the ball to come to him when the ball is delivered into good areas. I don't think Costa is the most talented but some of the best goal scorers in the world were never that talented. If he has the knack to be in the right place at the right time I am sure he will do well.

Costa is the best available striker at the moment.

Atletico Madrid could agree to sell Diego Costa to Chelsea today, with the money received being spent on Alvaro Negredo.

 

AS claim that Atletico and Chelsea are speaking this morning and the deal should be concluded, with Romelu Lukaku possibly moving in the opposite direction.

 

But Atletico are in the market for two strikers, having also let David Villa go, and Negredo, out of favour at Manchester City, is high on the wanted list.

 

City insist on a fee of €28m, however, the same amount they paid Sevilla 12 months ago, and so Atletico need the Costa money before they can sign the Spain international.

 

Negredo didn’t play a full 90 minutes for City after March and lost his place to Edin Dzeko, with Vicente del Bosque following Manuel Pellegrini’s lead and leaving Negredo out of the squad for the World Cup.

 

Atletico are also thinking of Thibaut Courtois, the Chelsea goalkeeper who has spent the last three years on loan at Vicente Calderon.

 

Courtois could yet return for a fourth year and is said to want to leave Chelsea if he’s going to be second fiddle to Petr Cech.

 

Cech could leave Chelsea but it’s not certain as his stature at the club complicates an exit, AS say.

Because Barca had the Ivan Rakitic deal in place ready to replace Fabregas.

 

Ateltico, if you go on reports, are trying to find a suitable replacement for Costa. 

 

Also Costa might not have wanted to enter transfer talks whilst the World Cup was going on so as not to act as a distraction whereas Fabregas was the opposite with not wanting it to act as a distraction.

 

Or maybe we are waiting for the transfer window to be officially open (tomorrow).

I dont think this deal is even remotely close to being finished, theres more to it. I wont be surprised if he ends up staying at Atletico.
