Quietly confident...because of Mou

I believe that the more the Liverpool fans swarm out of the woodwork to boast to anyone who will listen that they will clobber us at Anfield to win the league, the more nervous they really are inside about not doing so. Why should they be nervous? Well, for starters, in 9 matches so far home and away against the creme de la creme of the EPL, Chelsea have lost once (away at Everton) and conceded a paltry 4 goals. Any other reason? Well, we have Jose. But so what? Well, Liverpool know that we are not going to go all gung-ho and give them space at Anfield the way City did. They know we are the "enemies of football", who will throttle the life out of them and just be good enough to score that one goal needed to leave them scratching their heads. Yes, we've done it plenty times before to teams that are better than they are now. So, yes, the doubt is there, and it festers, and the more the doubt there is, the greater the need to come on to Chelsea forums and boast that they will, indeed, without the shadow of a doubt, unless the moon turns blue, or purple, or the sea swallows Anfield, etc., clobber Chelsea to win the league.

Whatever. They can't even convince themselves.

I like what was said in another post on these forums recently: our biggest advantage right now is that we have Jose Mourinho, who was born for these matches.

Cheers,

Butch

We have experience on our side; Jose, Cech, Ivan, JT, Frank, Ash, Mikel and so on. Our manager is accustomed to win whereas Liverpool has no experience of winning. They have no(very little) past winners in their side including the manager. What they do have is will but I hope they romanticize so much that they forget to do the basics.

They also have the momentum and the fact that they don't have to play massive CL games between PL games. Everyone knows how hard it is to play big pressure games in Europe and then go visit Crystal Palace for example. Sherwood just stated CL made a huge difference to their PL campaign last time they were in it. It basically ruined their chances of qualifying for the following years competition.

We do have deep enough squad to make it and that is the key really. Liverpool's squad is a lot thinner but Rodgers' made a good work not letting that affect too much. He's brought in some youngsters who've done very well. Points to him for that.

For Rodgers this Chelsea game is his ultimate test. He cleared the first test against City but we are a different kind of test with Jose. Jose will try to win with everything whereas Pellegrini stuck to his system. Will he try to play for at least a draw or go all in for the win, Rodgers that is. Interesting to see.

Liverpool fans know that the one team who can spoil the party is us.Mourinho is tactically superb and they know that as well.Tiredness is a concern with it being after the Athletico away game ,but we will be ready COME ON YOU BLUES!

Massive match. To be fair (difficult I know) the table doesn't lie. Liverpool have been the best team in recent months while Chelsea have, at times, clung on. However now is the "squeak your bum" moment and this can go either way. What is going to be worse: the crowing of the Liverpool fans if they win or the approbation of all and sundry if we do a Godzilla on Bambi?

This is the same defense we will play that conceded 3 away to PSG, 3 away to Stoke and 3 away to Sunderland. At times (but not often) we have been leaky back there and that needs addressing.

The Liverpool defense on the other hand is quite poor and I'd expect us to score 2. But keeping them out is massive.

I really wish I had the confidence others did, But I can hope.

Also tactically it'll be very interesting. Rodgers came up against us at the Bridge and got beaten so can he work out how to play against us? He will have seen how we played at City and given City and Liverpool are quite similar in attack attack attack, he'll be worried.

Only problem for me with us scoring 2 goals away from home we never look like doing. If we'd taken our chances at Swansea we'd have blitzed them but we seem to be better at missing chances.

All I will say, something I saw elsewhere, is the two biggest games Mourinho has had at Anfield, he has failed.

Hopefully, if we get the chance, he'll be itching to get it right.

I think our players have a big game mentatlity. We always step it up in the big games. So I reckon we'll get 2.

He had a nice little 4-1 win there though, and we have had some other big results there in recent years.

Yes I know he had a nice little 4-1. Unfortunately in November to the team who came 5th the previous year.

Now I think we will get a result there, but let's not pin our hopes on the fact we have Mourinho. He has had his fair share of failures in big games.

The problem we have is there is going to be a media storm against Mourinho if we lost the league at Anfield. Whilst he is big enough to take it we just have to hope our board is too.

Does that not count as a big win then? It was pretty big at the time.

Just pointing out that he has had some successes there, and overall his hits in big games outweigh his misses.

It's going to be a tough game, Jose will have to be at his tactical best & I fully expect him to be!

I hope he is,................at present they only need a draw........we have to win and also win against 3 relegation teams who also need  wins................their run in is alot easier and will score for fun against the other teams..

we have to attack, yes quell there momentum at the start, but at some stage we must score and that is when we become  vunerable........

we have the experience for the crowd and atmosphere but the 2 things we have to overcome is...1--our goal famine and 2----the over excited officials to help the scum out...

But 1st a win on Sat is vital for us to go to Binfield with a winning game plan.

If they start Sakho then we've won. One of the most inept defenders in the league.

Sakho and Toure would be great!

I'm confident but as others have pointed out, there is no point in getting ahead of ourselves. Let's take Sunderland first - sorry Gus.

Liverpool remind me alot of Barcelona. If you can stop them scoring, you can score against them.

We have the defence to stop them scoring.
