The season is almost over and I'm sure throughout this summer we will be linked with a number of players. However, there's already been talk of a 37m switch for Ross Barkley of Everton. Probably 'rumours' and this post possible should be under that section...... I've watched him a number of times & he does look pretty impressive for such a young man but I wanted to see the overall opinion from you all??!

Is he good enough for us?

Good enough for the World Cup?

Or would we be spending 30 odd million on a youngster instead of blooding our own?! Loftus-Cheek / Lewis Baker spring to mind!!

Of course this is only one of many transfer stories that will hit the papers or twitter throughout the summer, but what are your thoughts???

He's just f**king gun given that he's English. I would really like to see him play alongside Matic in the pivot. He's the perfect replacement for our legend Lampard. He's fast, his passing is alright(Well atleast better than Ramires). His physicality is good and he can score wonder goals.

And yes HES f**kING GOOD.

His physicality is excellent. Strong as an ox.

Mourinho earlier this season before Everton match:

“I like a young player, a young English player,†said Mourinho. “The market is closed but I asked a question to position myself to see where he was. We are speaking about a very young player but his price was like he has 50 caps when he had none.

“The price for English players is very high, the market is very difficult.â€

37mil is ridiculous though.

I really rate him, reminds of a young Gerrard. I would really like it if we got him but isn't his best position slightly higher up the pitch than being Matic's pivot partner? Either way we should get him.

He played deeper against City and was superb, even without considering his goal. His technical ability makes him more effective than Ramires when he drives forward. Edited by venom2011

I really rate him but for the money its ridiculous. Lets see how MvG does this coming season as he could be just what we need. Also, i doubt Barkley is going anywhere in the summer.

Man U will be spending money but i think they'll snap up Shaw and a couple of foreign players

City have so much quality in midfield he won't get any playing time.

Liverpool won't be able to buy him/he wouldnt move to the red side of the city.

Tottenham would practically be a sideways move for him

Arsenal have Ramsey and Wilshire

Might as well see what 14/15 holds for him before we spend £30mill on him and find out he's another Jack Rodwell (god forbid!!)

Barkley is worth every penny from so far what I've seen. He's just majestic, he'll make us even more effective in the counter attacks he's so fast.

His technique and passing ability is days better than Ramires and he's only going to improve.

------Barkley---Matic-------

-Reus------Oscar------Hazard

------------Cavani/Costa---------

That would be my dream fulfilled forward line.

How much would he cost though? Martinez said that they would reject 37m/50m from pool/man utd. Maybe he wasn't being totally serious but he'd cost quite a lot, no? Probably 35m or so I feel. Not sure if we'd spend that much on both him & Costa.

Saying they would reject it and actually rejecting it are 2 different things.

Unfortunately its the going raye for top class English talent, and its probably what we will have to pay.

Well if we are thinking about off-loading Lukaku, we could potentially throw him into a deal to bring the price down. Hell, i'm sure there must be more players we've got on our books that Everton could use. Bertrand, PVA, Moses, Marin, etc...

yeah this. If he doesn't want to stay.

Not worth it. He runs with the ball too much like Wilshere and his passing is too inconsistent to ever to good enough to play next to Matic and unlike Wilshere his passing even at the best of times isn't of the same quality.

It would only make sense if we bought him for the number 10 role and that as well would be silly as there are much better players than him for that particular role.

He's not any better than Chamberlain, in fact I would say Chamberlian is much better and more consistent and if we had to sign someone English I would be rather it was him.
