Thank you. How did he miss the penalty? Slip...

So at least you should get of gerrard's back. After all, like you said, a slip is not a mistake. And that has just made me realise, chelsea fans have no room to laugh at stevies slip after terry's blunder. Terry's was literally touching distance, more so than gerrard's as we still had palace and newcastle left. Oh well he wanted to be captain, leader, legend and failed miserably when he fully well knew there were better takers. HAHAHAHA

Sorry are you referring to the Gerrard slip that let Ba score and cost LFC the title

OR

the Gerrard slip that let Drogba score and win Chelsea the title.

When it comes to big Gerrard slips that cost LFC 3 points, you`re going to have to be specific about which occasion you are referring to.

JT might of cost us a CL title, though many of us blame Anelka for not stepping up, but he redeemed himself by helping the club win a CL title.  Shame Gerrard wont be able to do that about costing LFC the BPL title...... and after the FA had worked so hard to get LFC there, just a shame.

Thanks for stopping by L-f-c......

Oops !!!

But thats not all....

HE DONE IT AGAIN !!!!

HAHAHAHAHA

He didn't really slip against Arsenal, RVP just wrecked him for pace after an awful back pass in AVB's absurd high line.  He was never getting to the ball in the first place.

Terry has come up with the goods, both defensively and offensively, in the biggest games of our history.  He got his hands on the CL and redeemed himself in our incredible 2012 run - even though he was never to blame in Moscow, Drogba who was also famously redeemed, should have been taking that penalty.  Slippy Steve will never have the opportunity to lift the PL again.  Being top of the table with 2 games to go is a bottle job Arsenal would be proud of.

HAHAHAHAHA

you are laughing at the fact man united, supposedly your biggest rivals, won the champions league. loyalty.

Eat a snickers.

I personally think terry is better than kompany btw, but its not ridiculous to hold a different opinion. I also agree with the idea that some have mentioned that cahill probably benefits a lot from your system, he's a good defender, but he's not world class, i think kompany and terry are

That's very tough. Very tough indeed. I really like Kompany. Top player and hes such a decent, fair bloke. After losing The FA Cup Final to Wigan he stood and applauded as they lifted the trophy.

John Terry I also like too. Obviously. Im not going to sit here and defend some of the things but the media have made him out to be a much more horrible person than he actually is. He has done an awful lot for the community. The video of him and young Oran Tully shows the good he has done.

Football ability like I say though. I am split between the two.

No question imo Kompany is a good defender and leader but he really needs to do it at the level of JT and the amount of time JT has done it. Sky blue, as a City fan I generally rate you in high regards because you don't spout out nonsense like some of these Scouse (not including you Lewy) but to say Cahill is rubbish and overrated tells me you did not watch him much from his earlier days to where he is now. I ddon't think Cahill is world class yet nor maybe he never will be but what he has done is to be commended. Your making it out to be he is absolute rubbish and frankly I think your letting your emotions getting ahead of rationale take over. Cahill has grown leaps and bounds and to make a comparison (even though different positions) I rate Zabaletta's development to something like Cahill. I think Kompany has made him a better player the same way Terry has Cahill. My opinion anyway.

I won't even respond to that car thieving Scouse LFC person on here because clearly he is a WUM.

Sky blue are you really so deluded that you think it's clear cut that kompany is better than jt? Jt was better than kompany who is meant to be in his prime last year.

Don't get me wrong I think kompany is a superb defender but jt has been to a level that kompany will never reach. To prone to errors. Can you name me a jt error of the top of your head? I can name you a couple of kompany ones.

I'll weigh in on the JT v Kompany v Cahill debate.

First things first, JT in his prime was the best centre back in premier league history, that is virtually indisputable, Adams and Vidic coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

As for last season, he was the best centre back in the premier league, although I can also acknowledge that we have to play a deep defensive line to accommodate him, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

Cahill is a quality defender, I wouldn't go so far as to say world class, but he certainly could be over the next few years and it will be hard to say until JT retires and Cahill has to take the burden of organizing the defence. As a last ditch defender he's one of the best in the world, but his positioning and decision making sometimes force him to make acrobatic last ditch tackles or blocks when he could have stopped the danger earlier. You can make the argument that Cahill benefits from Mourinho's system and having JT next to him which certainly helps, but he was one of the best defenders of the season in 2012 joining from Bolton and then putting in a series of amazing performances in our CL run, without Mourinho and without JT in the final.

Kompany in his pomp is one of the finest defenders in the world. I'd say his 2012 season was nearly as good, if not as good, as any season JT or Vidic ever had. He in my opinion is a tier above Cahill as a defender, but in terms of consistency Gaz is well ahead of him. I'd obviously take Kompany ahead of Cahill, but it has to be acknowledged that Kompany is liable to making stupid mistakes which as a CB and captain you just cannot do. I didn't watch many City games last season but off the top of my head I can think of 3 games he really stuffed up for City; The horror game at Anfield, the game vs Barca where he got Demichelis sent off and pretty much put them out of the CL, and the game vs Hull where Kompany needlessly rugby tackled Jelavic and got sent off (although City still won).

Regardless of the mistakes i'd still take Kompany as he has far more ability, but Cahill is more reliable. JT in a different league though in his younger days.

Go ahead and watch both again. Notice anything?

Terry, during that CL penalty, obviously slipped and ultimately missed it. Yes, we know that. His left foot slipped while planting to take the kick. Extremely unlucky, but certainly not a mistake.

Now watch Gerrard. Gerrard didn't just slip. Gerrard made a mistake first by not controlling the pass. Then, while trying to recover, he slips and we all see the wonderful irony.

Gerrard never slips, and we don't score, if he controls that pass.

People make mistakes all the time. If I were a neutral, I'd even feel for him. Call it what it is though, Gerrard made a mistake that lead to him slipping while trying to recover and us scoring. Terry got unlucky planting for a kick, slipped, and ultimately missed.

If you cannot see the difference, I nor anyone else on these forums will certainly be able to convince you differently.

Done with this endless slip-gate?

Just read Tottenham have bought Yedlin. The American defender who did well in the World Cup. I remember posting in some of the world cup threads he is more like a Spuds-type player and now he is there. Another Lennon, Defoe, Walker, Rose for them. Their track record of buying small "tunnel-runners" is like ours with flop-strikers.
