September 1, 201411 yr Say what you want about Arsenal fans but they can be hilarious when it comes to complaining about transfers/Wenger etc, One guy on goonersweb forum just said 'Wenger is a mentalist, He is the type of guy who goes into a car show room, Walks past the Lambo's, Ferrari's, Bentley's and buys the Skoda'.

It must be incredibly frustrating for them, but they get no sympathy from us. I actually rate Wenger as a coach, he gets his teams to play great football and his teams around the invincible era were brilliant. Even his subsequent teams, although they didn't accomplish anything, played some of the best football in the league. The problem is the guy just loses the plot every year when it comes to addressing his most obvious issues. He lost Fabregas and RVP over it. Same with Nasri. His best players end up realising that he won't take them anywhere, and when he does spend he wastes it on the wrong positions. Khedira has been available all summer, I still don't think they'll sign him. Falcao was obviously available and he's technically excellent so exactly the type who would flourish in his system. I just can't understand him, he consistently keeps them a hair away from being a complete team, long may it continue.
September 1, 201411 yr I think the league is turning into a very exciting one this year. I am glad teams are strengthening in time to play liverbottle so they can receive a tidy hiding from a few unexpected teams. Absolutely, if we're going to win the league i'd rather see us do it against opposition who have no excuses. Edited September 1, 201411 yr by the special one

Wenger's just too stubborn and too much of an idealist to take Arsenal to the next level. How could he not take a run at Falcao!? He's perfect for the way they want to play.

Or runs a meth lab...
September 1, 201411 yr Falcao has got to be the most unambitious player i have ever seen, it's like he is trying to avoid the Champions League. I have never seen a player with such quality make such stupid moves. Atletico Madrid, Europa League, Monaco, no European football, Man United, no European football. Insane.
September 1, 201411 yr Burnley are apparently interested in taking Chalobah on loan, i would be happy with that, a loan move to a Premier League team will be good for him.

Yep it looks likely to happen. Hope he does well with them. He was brilliant for Watford then couldn't make much of his loans last season. He's looked a great talent every time I've seen him.
September 1, 201411 yr The united board recently look more clumsy than Spurs did last season, they are just buying players they don't need, wouldn't surprised me if they spent 40 odd million on Vidal in a few hours.

The problem is, They have sent a real statement of intent out, Think about all the shirt sales and all the noise they will be creating around the football world with the Di Maria/Falcao signings. As long as they scrape top 4 this year they probably feel they just need to sprinkle a defender/ midfielder or two next summer and they are ready to compete for the title next year. They are keeping themselves relevant, Look at the difference between Liverpool and them, This transfer window gives you the true measure of how not so big Liverpool are and how big United are, Liverpool finish 2nd last year and cannot attract a marquee signing for love nor money, United attract two in the same window despite finishing 7th. Now on the other hand, If they finish outside the top 4 this year then they might be in some serious trouble Lol Players will start getting twitchy, The revenue might take a hit and it will be harder for them to attract players next year because they cannot play the 'Last year was a one off year' card.
September 1, 201411 yr Mendes: "It is a permanent deal but due to the fair play rules the first year must be a loan." #mufc What a farce.

That's exactly what will happen, I wasn't so sure on Val Gaal if he can finish top 4 before he signed Di Maria but now I'm quite certain he wont. You can't just buy that many players and expect them to play together. Spurs have arguably a top 4 team in terms of quality, could arguably be better than Arsenals but they still need to click together and play better, they have been showing signs but got smashed against Liverpool. I don't even think signing these players will be beneficial for the long term either.
September 1, 201411 yr United are hoping to be the tramp who scavenges through a bin and finds a big mac with only one small bite taken out of it
September 1, 201411 yr Talking of tramps, QPR are being heavily linked with making a swoop for Fabio Borini.
September 1, 201411 yr What does this take United's total spend to since Fergie left? Wonder how much they will now be spending on wages too. So good that United who always made themselves sound so much better than us 'big money' clubs yet who looks like the ones spending willy nilly and scatter gun approach style. Is it me or does the 3-5-2 that LVG wants to adopt not fit the players they have. Be interesting to see where Mata figures into the equation with all the additions and the reshuffles that will have to be done to fit their attacking players in. September 1, 201411 yr Does Jamie Redknapp have one brain cell when it comes to football? He just said they aren't exactly panic buys from United and now that they can finish top 4. How is this man a pundit.... my god....
September 1, 201411 yr If Arsenal don't buy a striker United will finish top 4, Arsenal can't realistically compete with only Sanogo up front until January.

Be interesting to see where Mata figures into the equation with all the additions and the reshuffles that will have to be done to fit their attacking players in. I don't even think these are LVG buys. Rojo and Blind probably were. Di Maria and Falcao probably not. The others were players they'd been working on since before he arrived. He's been in the media for weeks complaining that he has too many AM's and strikers and can't set up how he wants, now they go and blow over 100m on two positions they're overstocked in, as good as they are. Woodward seems to be as bad as Perez at this point. A lot of this really doesn't seem like moves LVG would make. I'll give them Di Maria maybe, because he can play the Robben role even though he's in CM at the moment. It'll be interesting to see how they line up in a couple of weeks. The Rojo situation still hasn't been resolved either. They're apparently going to court over it so I can't see how this can be fixed before the deadline. This means he can't be registered until January.

Agreed about Arsenal but surely Spuds, Everton and a few other teams are in with a shout of 4th too? Just because Arsenal may miss out doesn't mean that Utd will clinch it for sure.

A defensive player that they really could do with that isn't available for registration, hilarious.
