Who the hell is Man U going to play midweek, Real or Barca? Wait, aren't all those good teams playing mid week in a little thing called the Champions League? I think they are just concerned their players are going out every night and post them on social media.

http://www.espnfc.com/manchester-united/story/2061191/manchester-united-exploring-friendlies-during-season

Manchester United exploring the idea of playing mid-week friendlies across Europe and the Middle East to boost revenue because of the lack of League Cup and Champions League matches. Haha, this is absurd, I hope the Premier League or FA refuses to let them go through with this.

When revenue comes before pride you realise just how far United have fallen within just a year.

Also this speaks volumes about the pressure FFP is putting on clubs, question is though if United can take more money from playing friendlies mid season than the money teams het from participating in actual competitions you have to again question the whole thing and its perceived "fairness"

Let's be honest revenue always comes before pride with utd just look what they done to the fa cup made a mockory out of it

True, true.

Only club in England that whores themselves out to every sponsor willing to be an "official provider".

Very much a "brand" club with their tacky club crest.

Tbh how can thy be stopped from doing it in the world of FFP. They want teams to spend what they earn so they may have to let teams do that sort od thing to generate more revenue. Tbh I hope they do do it cause then they don't get the days rest they would have been getting between matches.

Even as a fellow Chelea fan i cant agree with you all. I think its a clever idea of United if they did go through with it. The could make quite a bit of money and LvG could use it to blood youngsters and try different systems. If they didnt have to travel too far then it would be win win for them. Say they had stayed in the League cup and even won it, who would have cared? How much money do you think they would have made from winning it?

Also "Only club in England that whores themselves out to every sponsor willing to be an "official provider"." We should be so lucky to be pulling in the kind of money that they do. The money they are pulling in now through "official providers" is huge! And its these deals that are helping them spend 60 odd million on Di Maria.

Its all well and good to laugh at United (and i often do) but you cant laugh at the business deals they are getting.

But don't you think that it is sad that football has become just as much about the size of you sponsorship deals as it is as who actually plays for you.

And United with their tacky and cheesy devil logo are the biggest money whores of the lot.

I just cant bring myself to be envious of that sort of thing I just find it all a bit depressing.

Virgin Media has filed a complaint with Ofcom about the way the Premier League sells TV rights.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29426570

Virgin Media has asked broadcast regulator Ofcom to open an investigation into the way that the Premier League sells the TV rights to its live football games.

The cable firm says the auction process is driving up prices for fans and causing "significant consumer harm".

"UK fans pay the highest prices in Europe to watch football on TV," said Virgin Media.

Ofcom said it was "considering" the issue.

Virgin Media, owned by Liberty Global, said earlier this year that it did not plan to bid in the next auction.

However, Virgin says it is affected because it has to pay higher prices to buy the sports channels from BSkyB and BT.

BSkyB and BT currently share the rights to televise the Premier League football games.

The price for the latest rights deal - covering 2013-16 - rose 70% to £3bn when it was announced in 2012.

Virgin Media filed its complaint to Ofcom earlier this month.

Ofcom said it would take about eight weeks to consider the complaint "before deciding whether any further action is required".

When you think about it, it is crazy the amount of money we all have to spend to watch football. My sky bill is about 100 quid a month.

667 injuries in 10 years for Le Arse.

I've said before loads of times that Arse really should look at their injuries - it's become far more than just bad luck.  I don't know whether it's their training, med team or relying on just a few top players so playing them through injuries and knocks but you just know that come October their injury list is always going to be almost as big as their first team.

Bloody hell!  £100 per month is insane!  I don't have sky etc but is that normal?

Thats for all the sky channels, Chelsea TV, telephone and internet. BT sports is an extra 15 odd quid i think.
