Still don't see why the Bayern Munich fans couldn't attend. Surely Bayern could have been given the entire ticket allocation, all the gate receipts, burger sales etc.

It defeats the object of being behind closed doors if you let Bayern fans in. West Ham had to play a European game behind closed doors for rioting in Spain. How do you think that would have gone down with the locals if only Spanish fans were let in. Not well i can tell you i went Chelsea- West Ham games in the 80s.

My god, Paul Scholes is not pundit material at all, It's not what he is saying it's just himself in general, no personality or anything, he certainly hasn't got it.

He's awful. He sounds bored every time he speaks. I don't know why he keeps getting picked on ITV.........actually i don't get ITV at all really, their football coverage is always awful.

I had the City game on the front room and the Chelsea game on the laptop, but it's obvious which one I muted, not listening to Andy paragraph Townsend.

My brother and his wife and her side of the family (Italians) just called me from Manchester having seen the game. Atmosphere was f**king awful and City did not even fill their allocation apparently. Wow.

Looking for pictures now.

Brilliant thread.  It's made me quite fond of them - unlike most fans they're not being arrogant but are just scared, quite endearing really.  Hope we can live up to it!

Beerqueen trust me, they are the most arrogant fans you will get.

They are so hypocritical it's unbelievable, they want to commit suicide when it's going bad but once they start winning a few games that's it, scratch the Wenger out signs and we are going to win the league again. You should have seen them last season, they get so carried away it's amazing, they always forget about how sh*t they are at the end of the season, I loved how they where saying Chelsea will not match us come the end of the season.

Piers Morgan is the great example of an Arsenal fan, just look at his comments on Arsene Wenger when they are winning, then look at what he says when they arent.

Oh don't worry I know what they're like normally, it's just this particular bunch seem funny, laughing at their own team and their prospects!

The atmosphere was disgraceful tonight, I honestly can't see why we don't get accused of having plastic fans more than United or Chelsea get accused, At least those two sets of fans can get up for the European nights. The only two fixtures our lot can provide a remote atmosphere for is United and Chelsea at home, We have FAR too many family seats available, How is a father with 3 kids going to provide a rawkus atmosphere??? The only part of the ground that actually sings is the one right next to the away end, The club has got to look into what's happening and in my opinion it's the increase in family seating and more corporate hospitality areas, Those bums miss the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half and cannot provide an atmosphere anyway. Those empty seats tend to be t-wats going for some extra pies or chips, It's gotten past the point where you can blame the players or the manager, It's the club as a whole who don't know how to differentiate their emotions between a big Premier League game and a CL game.

naw this guy (Claude) is a better example. I wonder how he is doing todayhmm.gif

p.s.....Mods can we allow red&white back in so we can abuse him? Pretty please?

Don't get me wrong Pellegrini had a Ranieri moment tonight also, Tinkered way too much and if he was going to tinker, Tinker with the formation, Did he not realize Roma were good?

The other thing I've noticed about our fans on European nights, If we haven't wrapped the game up by 60 minutes, Instead of getting behind the team they go all Arsenal supporters like and start getting really edgy, nervous and you can hear every bad pass being met with a grunt, I suppose the improved atmosphere on European nights will come with gaining some confidence in Europe which is not going to happen anytime soon.

Now the thing that will interest me is, You can't sack Mancini and then not sack Pellegrini for having failed in the same area, I understand Mancini was a fiery Italian and Pellegrini is more of a players manager but they have both failed, He has to be shown the door.

A few questions mate. I've always had an interest in City and United to be fair as my mum's side are from Manchester and my blood relatives support the rags, the in-laws are City.

Was the atmosphere significantly better at Maine Road? Did a problem occur when core groups of fans were split up and put all over the stadium?

How many 'new' fans are there really considering you were averaging close to 30,000 in division 2.

Do you think City need a really big european night to help things?

Mac, Obviously moving into a new stadium will drive away some die hards because of the fact they have an emotional attachment to the old ground BUT, It's more got to do with what the owners are trying to do with the stadium, They want kids, parents to be able to attend City games without having to hear the vile stuff that comes out of the die hards mouths, Whilst I admire their positive take on life, The very fact that we have so many family seating areas means we will always be outsung by the away fans, We don't sell out the majority of our games despite the announcements via the pa system. The atmosphere at maine road was better but to the few Derby games I've gone to, It's not been that bad of an atmosphere but as I said earlier, It seems our fans don't understand the CL and they view playing United at home or Chelsea at home as more of a priority, Which is wrong if you want to be a big club.

Remodez, He won't get criticized for it, I swear the protection Vinny gets from the media you would think he is English, Talented CB but is so inconsistent, He can only seem to up his game when he's got a real challenge on his hands i.e. Costa or Rooney/RVP, If he doesn't have a genuine CF to mark he can look average at times, Wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho dropped Costa to the bench against us at Stamford Bridge, Play Fabregas and Remy up top with no real target man to avoid the battle with Kompany.

I just saw the goal that Totti scored against that Big Club from Manchester. Freakin' Brilliant bit of skill there

Craig Burnley works for ESPN in the states now and I just watched their nightly show and he was ripping through Kompany for tonight's performance and his overall play in general the past couple of years. He specifically singled out Kompany for not being good enough and basically said everyone is foolish to think Kompany is a great, consistent player when it is actually Demichellis who is the best cb at City.

European referees won't let City kick players off the park which nulls a lot of their main strength. They have no clue how to handle European games yet.
