April 16, 201511 yr If I were Daniel Levy I'd be straight on the phone to him. I reckon he might just fancy the challenge. Tottenham are a big club, they'll be moving into their new ground in a few seasons, and they aspire to play in the CL. Go and wash your mouth out Davey! Have to say, I do like Klopp so really don't like the idea of him ending up at any of our bitter rivals. I'd be happy to see him at somewhere like Norwich or AFC Wimbledon!!
April 16, 201511 yr I've just seen the second Suarez goal, great bit of play and a superb finish but David Luiz was awful on both the goals. Injured/unfit or what there's no excuse for that, to get nutmegged once maybe but twice in the same game. Awful defender, can't argue the lad is talented but he lacks the discipline to be a world class centre half. Still can't believe PSG gave us £50 mil for him. I'm mentioning his fitness when it comes to chasing back, not getting nutmegged.
April 16, 201511 yr Biscuits is play acting as usual.LOL! I like that, calling him that from now on - cheers.Oh dear Luiz, completely mugged off twice, bye bye PSG.
April 16, 201511 yr The guy is still unproven as an elite coach as far as I'm concerned...takes over best barca side ever and then Bayern side fresh after winning treble...when has he built a side of his own? I'm glad we didn't get him as chelsea manager...reckon he'd have gone a bit like avb and been a costly mistakeI said this a few pages back, completely concur - this is why he won't go to Man City.
April 16, 201511 yr Pep doesn't do project that aren't already successful thanks to another managers work. Why can't people see this?
April 16, 201511 yr must be a secret bristol rovers fan Never been a secret. The whole story is in here somewhere, back in one of the old threads.
April 16, 201511 yr Why can't people see this? Just had a chat with a mate at work and I said I think Pep would struggle in England. I mentioned the set up at Barca and Bayern were already there for him, he's never had to build a side. People do often say the same about Jose but he built Porto up and when he took over Chelsea we were not a side that won league titles. He also took Inter to the European Cup something they hadn't even got close to before he had arrived. Pep arrived at two teams that had already won league titles, European Cups, etc. The verdict is still out on Guardiola in my opinion.
April 16, 201511 yr People do often say the same about Jose but he built Porto up and when he took over Chelsea we were not a side that won league titles. We were knocking on the door though
April 16, 201511 yr We were knocking on the door though Of course we were but without Jose it would have probably took a little while longer. Edited April 16, 201511 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
April 16, 201511 yr Of course we were but without Jose it would have probably took a little while longer. Yes, agreed. I fully agree with your main point though of the jury still being out on Pep.
April 16, 201511 yr Anyone else find the rumour that Manchester United want to sign Danny Ings really odd? Considering Van Gaal said Danny Welbeck isn't "Manchester United quality" why a year later would he sign a striker that's worse than Wellbeck?
April 16, 201511 yr Yes, agreed. I fully agree with your main point though of the jury still being out on Pep. The one compliment I will give Pep is that he did take Barca to another level at the time he was there. The stars aligned and everything fell into place but they were a near unbeatable team for several years in his time there.

Considering Van Gaal said Danny Welbeck isn't "Manchester United quality" why a year later would he sign a striker that's worse than Wellbeck? Yeah I don't get it, tbh what I've seen of Ings he looks a decent player but not top 4 class at all.

Considering Van Gaal said Danny Welbeck isn't "Manchester United quality" why a year later would he sign a striker that's worse than Wellbeck? Don't think this is going to happen. It is quite odd but with Falcao out the door, should Van Persie and Chicharito leave too then we would have to consider having to sign another forward. (But there's nothing remotely to suggest the departures as Van Gaal loves Van Persie.) Only then would we need someone to deputize Rooney as we'll only have the young James Wilson as cover. It would also be a bad career option for Ings to join United and be Rooney's back up, as we're insisting in a 4-3-3 and he probably has no chance at fighting a spot with Rooney as he's our captain and a key player for us. He'd be better of at Liverpool where he would have more chance in the Starting XI. Either way Welbeck is in the past and he's a player I could never see leading the frontline should Rooney have ever been injured/suspended, I could have only seen him on the wings where we are quite strong at the moment so again, no place for him. Atleast Ings would make a decent deputy in the goalscoring department where as Welbeck's use would only be his workrate and pace which Ashley Young has been providing as well as end product to his game. Realistically our frontline options next season will be: Rooney, Van Persie and (Hamez) Wilson and that's honestly all we need when they are fighting for 1 spot. A lot of rumours are suggesting you're going to go for Cavani this summer. Quite honestly, I can't see United going from having a strikeforce of the profile of Rooney, RvP and Falcao to then bringing in Danny Ings. Maybe he would be in addition to Cavani but does he really want to go and sit on the United bench? Like I said, I don't think he is as good of a player as Welbeck so it would be pretty hypocritical of Van Gaal to sign Ings in my opinion.

Honestly if we were to sign Cavani I don't think it would be to play as an out an out #9, rather it would be the supporting striker role where Fellaini has been playing for us. Cavani's been playing that same role for PSG behind Ibrahimovic and if we were to sign him, logically it would only there where he could possibly be playing as we have such a vast and competitive strikeforce with Rooney, Van Persie, the young James Wilson and possibly even Chicharito all fighting for one place. Cavani provides a similar aerial threat as Fellaini but arguably is a better goal threat in the air. Cavani like Fellaini would be utilized for his hold up play to bring other players into the game. He also is quite known for his intense workrate in matches so he'd be useful to strengthen our pressing when off the ball. In reality he'd only be a slight upgrade as a supporting striker on Fellaini if even that as Fellaini is more comfortable in defensive positions and is quite happy playing the dirty side of the game for us where as Cavani would rather be in the attacking side of the spectrum. It would be quite a strange signing it were to occur... I must admit. But I digress, I don't think this transfer is going to happen. Edited April 16, 201511 yr by Juan Matas Beard

April 16, 201511 yr Cavanni is yet to impress me but that's not to say he's awful, I just don't think he's as good as we have been led to believe
