April 19, 201511 yr Did anyone hear Phil Neville on MOTD? Whining about Chelsea's tactics. "I was always brought up at United to win in style. I would like to see more style." From someone like Scholes I could accept that comment...but from him?! In the later years of his career he was only ever played to man mark and kick people. at Utd, yes, at UTD, not at Chelsea! I do think jose should implement a better attacking style with the players we have at our disposal, but it doesn't really matter a bit whether oppo fans and pundits want to see chelsea play good football as they aren't the ones who support chelsea. if anybody should have opinions on our style of play, then it's us as fans, not them; they should concentrate on their own teams and styles of play.
April 19, 201511 yr Truth is you won't win the league simply playing beautiful football. The failure to adapt to changes in your own capability or those of your opponents has only one outcome. You'll get found out. This has happened to Arsenal sides every year for a decade, arguably it is only from finally accepting this that they've done as well as they have this season. It's also why Liverpool failed last season. They could have played for a draw against us but didn't know how and payed the price. Mourinho is about winning. We are lucky he is in love with Chelsea. April 19, 201511 yr So Neville I just going to ignore all those games where utd were sh*te but managed to drag a win from somewhere, battling to championship wins? It was what the fergie legend was built on the thick sh*t.

Fergie was never opposed to playing the likes of Park and O'Shea in midfield to nullify a team's attacking threats. Granted I don't recall Fergie ever using tactics like we did yesterday but maybe if he'd done that against Barcelona in the Champions League Final then he'd have beat them, like Jose did at Inter and Robbie did here. I'd expect if Fergie was around now he'd have moved with the times and adapted these types of tactics, like Wenger has this season too.

April 19, 201511 yr Come on Villa!! I think Villa can take them. As an aside I assumed this would also be on mainstream tv like yesterday, but no.
April 19, 201511 yr So Neville I just going to ignore all those games where utd were sh*te but managed to drag a win from somewhere, battling to championship wins? It was what the fergie legend was built on the thick sh*t. Someone should remind him of Newcastle away in 1996, they were battered all game but Cantona scored a goal to win it.

It was what the fergie legend was built on the thick sh*t. I'm afraid he has a very short memory. As a Blues fan I tip my hat to MUFC - greatest English club ever by a country mile and as for SAF - a legend that is off the scale. BUT - they have ground out some very dull (but effective) football over the years. They have played some very cynical football over the years. And at times they have been very aggressive and have done down and dirty big style when they needed to. Time has a strange effect on memories.
April 19, 201511 yr Barca in the Champion's League in 2008 as well. Scholes scored a beauty and then they just defended.
April 19, 201511 yr Be comical if City missed out on CL football. I agree with the sentiment but...it gives them time to regroup. Look what a season 'out' has done for MUFC. Oddly overlooked that in yesterdays game we were apparently 'tired' but it didn't rate a mention (or maybe I missed it) that MUFC have hardly had a hard season compared to us. April 19, 201511 yr They also seem to have forgotten the turgid dog sh*t they have been serving up all season prior to their recent revival.

April 19, 201511 yr You need more than plan a to win a title...As arse and Liverpool have found out to their cost over the past decade...Phil Neville should know that better than anyone as ex Utd player, but can't leave his bias out of his punditry, which should negate his suitability for the role if the bbc had any balls...cfc have won matches displaying all facets this season, skill, flair, luck, character, defensive resilience, tactical brilliance, big wins, narrow wins, late wins etc top since day one...instead of bitching, chelsea should be lauded with all the plaudits going...
April 19, 201511 yr http://www.espnfc.co.uk/liverpool/story/2407228/liverpool-still-a-bigger-club-than-man-citysays-brendan-rodgers Brenden banging on about how Liverpool are a big club, bigger than City, this is all they ever talk about. Who cares? They either play the history card, or the big club card, to mask the fact that they are pitiful club compared to how they used to be. Being a big club really doesn't matter, it's success that matters and success isn't something that they've had a lot of in recent times.
April 19, 201511 yr My god. City and West Ham are on the beach already. Liverpool could catch this lot.
April 19, 201511 yr Just read some of the deluded arrogance on this thread - esp' about JM being ok for the 'not quite top teams' and about the higher ambitions of MUFC. Maybe some sort of Scouse Myopia Virus has whizzed east to Manchester. http://www.redcafe.net/threads/two-reasons-i-do-not-like-mourinho.403642/
April 19, 201511 yr defence mechanism built in from the fact they still think jose wanted to join them and the fact that he and us, are winning yet again

Villa can say exactly the same given euro cups etc, but don't hear them bleating about it every season...only the present counts. I was 15 when Liverpool last won the league, like Kevin the teenager character living at home with parents, A spotty kid who got nervous when a hot girl came within 50 yards...I'm now 40, enjoying career, a homeowner, married and a father...in other words my life back then and now are poles apart...just like Liverpool's status as a football club
