Sorry but Mikel's ability is on a different planet to Romeu... thing about Mikel (and even Ramires) is, by virtue of their physicality/talent both have the ability to be effective even when they're playing sh*te...

 

Will happily eat humble pie if proved otherwise, but Romeu (along with Kalas/Omerou) will never be good enough for the first team (don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving youth a chance if they demonstrate they have something about them, i.e. Zouma/RLC).

 

Isn't Romeu currently on loan to Stuttgart who are currently bottom of the Bundesliga? Speaks volume.

I feel as if Romeu would be more useful to us then Mikel, the few games he played with us he played reasonably well. Also did you not see kalas play against Liverpool last season? He was the star player

I wouldn't go as far to say Kalas was our star player that day, but as I've said previously, credit where it's due he had a decent game.

 

My point (and to reiterate what I said about Kalas last summer) is most CBs (i.e. Christensen or i'd argue any decent League 2 CB) would have played well that day (in all likelihood) because we parked the bus (or to put it another way, played with a deep block). Unlike Zouma, Kalas hasn't shown anything to suggest he's capable of playing at the highest level week in week out (irrespective of a high defensive line, deep block, etc).

 

In terms of a future RB personally I think Ola Aina has just as much chance of breaking into the first team as Kalas.

Same, wouldn't be surprised to see him sold and then never heard from again. Ake has looked better at CB and that's not even his main position.
