Chelsea vs Leicester (PL) 23/08/14 KO 15:00 BST

Featured Replies

First home game of the new Premier League campaign and we're hosting another newly promoted side, Leicester City. Although we have the home crowd I'm anticipating a sod-of-a-match, this one is going to be tough. Leicester finished atop the Championship last season by some margin and their form seemed to show against Everton last week.

I think we'll win but to re-iterate; this won't be easy.

Courtois

Luis   Cahill   Terry   Azpi

Fabregas  Matic

Schurrle  Oscar  Hazard

Costa

2-0 to Chelsea.

Agreed - But to be clear no game in the modern premier league is NOT going to be tough!

3-1 again for us (Costa, JT, MVG)

            Cech

Ivan - Gary - JT - Azpi

       MVG    Matic

             Cesc

Shurrle               Hazard

            Costa

Courtois

Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Azpi

Matic - Cesc

Willian - Hazard - Schurrle

Costa

After Monday's taster I can't wait for the next!

I'd play the same side as Monday, maybe introducing Luis this time.

Leicester looked very decent against Everton so this won't be easy!

LCFC fan here, hope you don't mind me joining up.

It's been 10 long years since I've watched Leicester take on Chelsea in the league and it wasn't very enjoyable then (4-0 to you if my memory serves).

I'd been looking forward to this game on the back of a battling draw against Everton but having watched you dismantle Burnley on Monday my mild optimism is slowly turning to dread.

I hope we can give you a good game and at least make it interesting but recent injuries certainly won't help.

Anyway, looking forward to the trip and hoping for a good game (and a point or 3 would be nice if you're feeling generous)

I remember a Steve guppy goal derailing our title bid in 98!

Absolutely gutted me at the time.

Think we should put out the same 11 as the burnley game, and I can see us winning comfortably. I watched the full 90 of Leicester-everton, and I don't think they will cause us too many problems, especially at the bridge.

Courtois

Dave Cahill JT Luis

Fabregas Matic

Schurlle Oscar Hazard

Costa

Good to be playing the newly promoted sides early on as they are less likely to want to sit deep as they're just enjoying the experience right now and not involved in a relegation battle.

Don't see much reason to change the team that played against Burnley, maybe Luis in at left back and Dave over on the right otherwise our team looked awesome so need to keep it up!

4-1 Chelsea, Costa to grab two.  :Connie_threaten:

Good luck in the game mate but I don't think we feel like sharing ;P I hope it is a good game to watch.

Unchanged side scoreline a 2 - 0 win not worried who scores though would like Costa & Fabregaz to score.

Because of fantasy football.

----------- Courtois -----------

Azpili - Cahill - Terry - Luis

----- Matic -- Fabregas -----

Schurrle - Oscar - Hazard

------------ Costa ------------

I want Luis to start so we have a proper left back offensively speaking, but I don't like leaving out Ivan.  Hopefully back to keeping a clean sheet and we get a repeat of the first half against Burnley.  Can't wait for this game.  What a team we have.

I don't know how Leicester play, but they're likely to park the bus considering we just demolished their fellow promoted side and they're coming to the Bridge.  This was our undoing last season, so it'll be an interesting test.

Pretty much the same as above with Oscar coming out for Willian

----------- Courtois -----------

Azpili - Cahill - Terry - Luis

----- Matic -- Fabregas -----

Schurrle - Willain - Hazard

------------ Costa ------------

We shouldn't need the power of Ivan for this game and Luis could offer mutch needed width on the left with Azpi doing the same on his natural right hand side.

Oscar will probably keep his place but I'd like to give Willian an outing instead as I don't think Oscar offered much on Monday night.

Last year we played high tempo passing football, looking to counter quickly when the opportunity arose. We looked to attack teams from the off and dominate possession.

We had great success playing this way but obviously we won't be able to do that in this league.

I think we'd have gone 451 against you of it wasn't for the fact we lost James in the warm up against Everton and Drinkwater within the first 20 mins. These 2 in cm have been crucial to our success and we'll have to play our second string.

Unfortunately, due to injuries I think we'll have little choice but to line up 442 unless we can get another cm in before the weekend.

Jose will get the benifit of checking on the players overall fitness, but if there are no concerns I would like to see 2 changes made from the Burnley game:

Courtios

Azpi-----Cahill-----JT-----Luis

----MvG------Matic------Cesc

Schurrle-------------Hazard

-------------Costa

I expect we will see Ramires start this one actually but would like to see MvG given the go. We are at home so Luis should offer us more going forward from LB that Azpi can, while Azpi gives us more consistent delivery from the right than Brana does.

Really unfortunate for you there mate.  Burnley played a 2 man midfield and were overrun.  Still even if you get nothing here, a point at Everton is not to be sniffed at from 2 hard opening games.  We lost there last season.

Got to agree with you on the above...

The ultimate conundrum is how do we cater for the wealth of talent in our squad, make sure we rotate players to keep them fresh, introduce the younger boys into the team for experience etc...

How do we deal with 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'?

Would we be happy with rotation and for arguments sake, win 70% of the time OR to stick with the same 'trusted' 11 and win 90% of the time... Will we see Jose' 'untouchables' again? Will that number be greater than before, not 3 or 4 but 7 or 8 now?

Bearing in mind JM is building a team 'to dominate for the next decade' would we be satisfied with that 70% knowing the whole squad is gelling and getting the necessary experience....

Just a  thought and yes, i relaise we're only a game into the seasons...just thinking aloud

It was home to Everton. Still, good results for Leicester.

Another Leicester fan here joining in the discussions;

I'm amazed at how good the Chelsea team is looking! So much power and depth to the squad, can't see anything other than Chelsea winning the title this year, along with another cup of some sort!

I can only see a Chelsea win this weekend as well, just hope that it is damage limitation, and if you're winning at half time, you slow down a bit like you did Vs Burnley.

I reckon Leicester will try either 5-4-1 or Keep it the same with 4-4-2.

5-4-1

Schmeichel

De laet - Moore - Morgan - Wasilewski - Schlupp

Knockaert - King - Hammond - Marhez

Ulloa

Hopefully the formation will be used to break play up and frustrate Chelsea, whilst putting crosses into Ulloa as often as possible with his areal threat.

Still think i'll be a Chelsea win   2 - 0.
