August 26, 201411 yr I don't think city will have it that easy during the season. They aren't going to score all those goals. perhaps not but the firepower is frightening. Jovetic looked excellent last night.... ruthless. Aguero on the pitch for 25 seconds and bang, goal number 2 off the bench in 2 games. Dzeko is Dzeko... good for 10-15 goals this season. We have costa who i agree is worth about 20-25 goals this season, but I honestly dont think Drogba will score more than 5 in the PL this season, and torres is just a non-entity and isnt even worth discussing when it comes to league form. we're desperately short up front when you compare us to the likes of liverpool and city (and to an extent, United). I say this in the context of the entire season during which we will be competing in four competitions. We need options and at the moment I think our options are very, very average. Drogba, for me, simply is not the answer, and has looked every bit a 36 year old striker in his two brief cameo appearances this season. I think even the most die hard of chelsea fans would wince with apprehension at a lineup with Drogba starting in any potential absence of costa, against top-quality opposition in a key league match for example.
August 26, 201411 yr Costa apart we wont score many goals from Drogba and Torres. We are far weaker than City in that department
August 26, 201411 yr We were weaker than city last season in all competitions too, but still managed to get to the semi finals of the CL and 3rd in the league beating the top four teams. I think we are underrated in terms of what we can accomplish when our backs are against the wall.
August 26, 201411 yr Apparently there are concerns over his weight and fitness after suffering an injury... this picture doing the rounds
August 26, 201411 yr To be honest he sounds perfect, I really hope we get him. But I can't see us signing a striker until January, I think Mourinho is going to see how it goes first then bring one in.

August 26, 201411 yr Good article about him here, including the outrage which that pic of him looking fat caused: http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/apr/07/roma-hat-trick-mattia-destro-world-cup just not sure about this bloke. seems to have come from nowhere. hard to judge him without ever seeing him kick a ball though so im sure our scouts have done their work and jose knows what he's after better than any of us do.

I had a good skim through it and I liked what I read, it seems as though he doesn't give up, sure he might not be the most talented forward on market but we need players with that attitude in our side. Rather than that moping Spaniard who plays with a sad face all season.
August 26, 201411 yr Having that beard and looking a bit more fat actually makes him look english in my opinion. Imagine him with a balding head. Maybe we can count him as home grown? Edited August 26, 201411 yr by CFCholland
August 26, 201411 yr people saying he's come from nowhere, but isn't that how most top players are found? To be fair, scoring and assisting that much in a boring league like Italy, is very good. I thought the Italian league was known for it's defensiveness(?). I am not saying he's going to be the next henry, drogba or suarez, but he could turn out to be a very good talent under the guidance of Mourinho. Edited August 26, 201411 yr by enigma
August 26, 201411 yr Hahaha. Lets get him! Isn't this a problem with Toure brothers as well. When they go on a holiday they gain something like 10kg every time..?
August 26, 201411 yr he obviously likes his home cooking! who wouldn't living in Italy?! "justa like ah mama use to make!"
August 26, 201411 yr Apparently there are concerns over his weight and fitness after suffering an injury... this picture doing the rounds Looks like the second pic was taken closer to him which may be why his head looks twice the size (hopefully).
August 26, 201411 yr Looks like the second pic was taken closer to him which may be why his head looks twice the size (hopefully). Wishful thinking. Guardian article I posted earlier on this thread is quite good and discusses his weight issue. Still, an upgrade on trolles and his stats speak for themselves
August 26, 201411 yr Reminds me of Ricky Hatton after a fight, goes on a bender and puts on a few stone. Can't be good for an athlete though (as it showed with Ricky)
August 27, 201411 yr It almost looks like a pic from 2 weeks before a relationship vs a pic 2 weeks after the breakup.
August 28, 201411 yr Few rumours that Destro has agreed terms on a 5 year deal, further rumours suggesting a deal could be completed within the next 24 hours. Love me a good rumour.
August 28, 201411 yr I hope that is true, though I don't know much about him. He is relatively unknown, so hopefully if we sign him he could be our own hidden gem. Italy is known to produce some brilliant forwards, so if he turns out to be the next inzaghi or vieri.
