August 25, 201411 yr Strong rumours in Italy that we are trying to sign him for €25m, if someone could provide links that would be handy. What do you all think of this? He scored or assisted a goal every game he played last season for Roma.
August 25, 201411 yr Tbh, i don't understand this ffp situation. How many do we have to offload to free up space to buy someone? Will loaning players allow us to buy?
August 25, 201411 yr Tbh, i don't understand this ffp situation. How many do we have to offload to free up space to buy someone? Will loaning players allow us to buy? It's nothing to do with FFP, it's that we need a certain number (8 off the top of my head) of homegrown players in our 25 man squad, 4 of which have to have been developed by the club. Therefore we can only have a max of 17 or so foreign players in the squad. edit: under 21s are excluded from this, but Destro is 23. Edited August 25, 201411 yr by Jonty

Don't see why that's a problem tbf, just register the players we want to and any outside the registration list can actually make their agents earn their money for once in finding them new clubs. Might be the kick up the ass Torres needs to go away.
August 25, 201411 yr http://www.gazzetta.it/Calciomercato/25-08-2014/destro-milan-roma-mourinho-chelsea-90246019816.shtml But they attribute it to the Daily Star.
August 25, 201411 yr Anyone rate this guy? Yes I rate him pretty highly. Only problem is that he's 23 and at that age he should be playing every week to reach his true potential.
August 25, 201411 yr Yes I rate him pretty highly. Only problem is that he's 23 and at that age he should be playing every week to reach his true potential. Whilst he may not be first choice, can you really see Costa playing 90 minutes for 60 Games this season? This is why I dont understand Lukaku's problem, Chelsea will have more than enough games to satisfy 2 top class strikers and Drogba. If we replaced Torres with anyone who had a single chance of realising his potential I would truly believe we had the best squad in the PL, as is we have the best Gk, Defence, are right up there in Midfield (the best if they realise their potential) and a worse strikeforce than 7th place Manchester United, Liverpool and City.

THIS.
August 25, 201411 yr So the source of the rumour is The Daily Star? Boooooo! This rumour was in the times a couple days back too if that helps?
August 25, 201411 yr Seems a hell of a lot of money to pay for someone who is relatively unknown. Hadnt heard of the bloke til the rumours surfaced. Totally in the dark as to his qualities

August 25, 201411 yr This rumour was in the times a couple days back too if that helps? If there were some truth to this I would expect more places to be running with it, for now I think it needs to be viewed somewhat cynically but should we be looking to signing another striker I think this guy is the sort of level we should aim for. I remain hopeful if unconvinced.
August 26, 201411 yr I don't know, he's not all that impressive in his "Youtube montages" and isn't too highly rated by Serie A supporters. Mourinho has an impeccable track record with CFC transfers so far though, so if he likes the guy then I'm behind him 100%. All of the pundits were second-guessing the Matic buy and look how brilliantly that one worked out.

All of the pundits were second-guessing the Matic buy and look how brilliantly that one worked out. That's just it though, no matter how much we 'armchair managers' like or dislike a player, there's a reason the likes of Mourinho, Pep, Ancelotti etc. get paid millions to manage teams, they know a hell of a lot more than even the most knowledgeable fans and pundits. If the manager signs a player, people can complain or applaud all they like, but the player has been signed by someone who knows the game and the player inside out, not someone who sits with a can of beer and a pizza shouting at the TV.
August 26, 201411 yr You also need to take in account the personality of the player. Other players truly want to win trophies and others say they want to win trophies; Lukaku. If Destro wants to be a part of a team that has a great shot of winning even CL Chelsea is a good place for that. And he would accept any role given by the manager.
August 26, 201411 yr I like the YouTube video posted. I saw goals with both feet, a headed goal and good decision making in the box. Of course you don't see the bad stuff or even the average bits, still i liked what I saw.

Diego Costa's highlight reel isn't an overly entertaining watch but in just two matches he has transformed our attack. Ideally we need a better option for our reserve striker and a 23 year old with a better than one in two goal ratio sounds good to me.
August 26, 201411 yr We need something, the fire power city have is stupid, every single one of there strikers will get at least 10 goals this season. Aguero at least 15 (conservatively in case injury's occur) That is 40 plus from strikers alone, Yaya will get at least 10 (probably more) Navas, Nasari and Silver will chip in. Compare that to our selves, optimistically lets say that costa gets 20, Hazard Oscar and Andre will probably average around 10 each, Willian and Fabregas 5 or so each. Then just like city we will have set piece goals etc. It leaves us well down. I know that if win every game 1-0 then goals don't matter but they bloody come in handy. I really hope Jose has one card left up his sleave.
August 26, 201411 yr I don't think city will have it that easy during the season. They aren't going to score all those goals.
