Wenger

Wenger consistently gets away with murder, I'm sure its something to do with his professorial looks...His every utterance is treated with reverential awe (perhaps a slight exaggeration, but anyway) His snidey digs are portrayed as Zen like mind games, and the sight of him crouching on the touchline makes me want to vomit...

Nothing looks more professional than not being about to put your hand in your pocket...

A lot of the press are just in thrall to him. He's always been arrogant, myopic and a sore loser, and had more spats with other managers and officials than I can remember. Yet he is rarely, if ever, called out on it. How he keeps his image as a cultured and dignified 'Professor' is a mystery to me.

It must eat him up inside that he's never managed to beat mourinho, I know it winds goonies right up.

Moaning about away goals rule now, funny how he's moaning about it after his team went out.

I do think he has a point but without the away goal rule you'd probably see a lot more games being decided in extra-time.

Then the argument becomes, is it fair for the home side to have home advantage in extra-time?

At least with the away goal rule you have a better chance of ties being decided within 180 minutes.

This kind of statement happens with surprising regularity from managers whose teams have just been knocked out of whatever tournament:

"We should change some rule or other which would (or might) have meant that we wouldn't have lost the last game"

You get the advantage of been the home side firs because you too your group otherwise you might aswell come second.

I think the away goals rule actually helps to stop a lot of 0-0s. Teams are more likely to go for it if getting a goal away is more important.

Then he shouldn't have qualified second in his group.

It's sour grapes.

Why exactly does he never get pulled up on his refusal to shake hands whenever he loses? Jose gets crucified for everything, if he stomped off without shaking hands you damn well know it'll be back page news (if not front page). Wenger does it all the time.

I thought it was hilarious, someone pointed out that Arsenal would have been playing Juventus in the last 16 had they not thrown away their 3-0 lead against Anderlecht.

They got the easiest draw possible and still bottled it in true Arsenal style, i.e. getting outplayed, beaten and absolutely humiliated in the first leg, before putting in an impressive-but-just-not-good-enough performance in the second leg which seems to restore their pride somewhat but ultimately achieves nothing. Three years out of four they've done this now - against Bayern two years ago (arguably last year as well) and also against AC Milan (in more spectacular style) the year before.

Personally I find the whole palaver hilarious.

Oh I completely agree, was just trying to through some weight at the argument against away goals... Personally I can't really see what harm they do?

As for Wenger, he's long be an extremely ungracious loser, not a season goes by when he refuses to shake hands on more than one occasion and it's always after he gets a bad result.

Look at the shove on Mourinho earlier this season... Crazy that he got away with that, especially when you look at how much focus there was on Nigel Pearson recently for his touchline antics.

Pardrew even got a ban for making contact with an opposition players but somehow Wenger gets away with it a lot.
