... I received an unexpected phone call from Val Tambling who wanted to pass on her gratitude to The Shed End for the card we organised (I may have done it but it wasn’t my idea) and then told me Bobby wanted to thank me himself. Oh em gee... I'm getting a bit emotional thinking about it, mainly because he’s made such a good recovery since when at the time he looked very weak. So chuffed he's still out and about and has made a couple of appearances on the pitch since.

I remember the game he wanted to meet me at too and the reaction to when he walked out on the pitch at HT… The chants were deafening, he and his wife were visibly overcome with emotion. Also we won 1-0 so that’s good. Here’s the original thread, it’s been achieved so I can’t bump.

Well done to all involved. Very well done indeed. Fans like you guys surely impact the club in ways you'l never know. Personally, hearing that a particular fan base does stuff like this for their ex-players would be something that would help sway my decision if I were a top player looking for a club.

Gem, thanks for bringing this up. As others have said, it was a terrific gesture and thank you for putting it together!

I also saw my message.

Brilliant stuff Gem! I was never aware of this until you mentioned it now. Bobby is a legend and that was the least that our supporters could do as as Bobby provided so many fond memories for the supporters.

I feel sad that I wasn't a part of the forum at this stage to send my well-wishes but great to see Bobby still going strong after his illness back in 2012.

Found the pictures of the card, can you spot your message?

Can't see mine - it must be hidden on the right.  :sadwalk:

I can see yours.

You can see most of it on the main screen but if you click onto it - you can see it all.

Thought I'd contributed but clearly not, which I'm annoyed at myself for...must have missed it somehow..more importantly it was a great thing to do gem and I'm really chuffed it made a chelsea legend happy...and he's well again, which is great too

Bump, a few days late though :D

I've just been looking at the picture of me, my dad & Bobby T and remembered it was March time we met him so the card must have been in February and what do you know...

I must find the picture of Val Tambling close to tears at the receipts on he got when on the pitch. It was against Stoke, we won 1-0 (Drogbaaaa) but that chant of 'one Bobby Tambling' at half time was something special.

^ I wrote that before I even read my first post in the subject and it just shows that what I remembered then is still at the forefront now. And yes, I'm a bit emotional.

Pfffft, pinned!
