Chelsea vs PSG (Champions League Second Leg) 11/03/2015

The moment Ibrahimovi? was sent off, and bad energy invaded the pitch, I had a feeling things were going to play out the way they did six years ago with Barcelona and Øvrebø. In the end they did, but thankfully not because of the ref but because, once again, we didn't take advantage being a goal up, a man up, and playing at home. We have no one but ourselves to blame. Mourinho has to close the title chase now so we can all move on, and winning the Premiership and the League Cup in his second season will be more than enough. I am just glad that it wasn't to a team such as Barcelona or Real tonight.

Pure bollox. Oscar is statistically our 5th best player this season, and before I bothered looking that up and working it out, that was about were I placed him. We clearly are better when he plays and is allowed to rotate with Cesc throughout the 90. Pretty much any good football we've played this season has involved exchanges between Oscar, Cesc, and Hazard.

yeah and statistics are pure bollox as well.

I'm just gutted, reason we lost the game is because we didn't go at them. They deserve to go though but we are the better side. That's what unnerves me. David luiz deserves credit too. Jsst saying it how it is. I'm gutted.

Spot on sir

Ok a few minutes to let this settle in.

I felt worse drawing at home to Burnley, and more stunned when Bradford knocked us out of the FA cup. Funny feeling that.

Before Cahill got the scoring started I was thinking this must be how Cristiano felt yesterday. To be heading through after a truly awful display and that the opposition, and Zlatan in our games case, deserved far more. In the end they got what they asked for.

I have no issue with how Luiz behaved in the game. He played with his heart on his sleeve every time he played for us. Good and bad he gave it his all. Costa leaves himself open to being wound up, and gives as good as he gets. Diego is our new Dennis Wise. A gifted played but, if we are honest, a complete tw*t. He is our tw*t though, and we look after our own.

Now what I found particularly upsetting were our awful defending of set pieces and our inability to pass to a team mate when in a position to attack.

The set pieces speak for themselves. We have Terry, Brana, Costa, Cahill and Zouma for Luiz's goal and then added Drogba for Silva's. He warned us, Tibo saved us, but our defenders did not listen. It was shameful, shameful marking.

However a portion of that blame goes on to our midfield and forwards. How many times did we attack and give the ball away with an over hit pass? An under hit pass? A poor touch? It was garbage stuff from all of them, including Hazard who disappeared near the end of the first half. When he does not play well we create nothing. No one else stood up.

Jose got it wrong, but I do not want to look a smart ar*e in hindsight and say he should have done this or that. He got it wrong, but he could not predict how awful our attack was going to be.

Disappointing. Where do we go from here?

Bollocks, selective memory right here whenever Schurrle played he looked woeful.

I don't think he had any more bad games than others such as Willian or Oscar, i'm not quoting you to argue trust me.

Jose likes a certain type of player and if you don't fit into that mold then you don't get played. We had games in the LEague Cup and the FA Cup where Schurrle and Salah should have played to rest the likes of Willian and or Hazard but we kept playing the same team over and over again, now we see the result, a team that is tired and we don't seem to have anyone on the bench who is a game changer.

Well perhaps instead of reading statistic you should watch some f**king matches. I think I've missed about 2 this season and Oscar has been dreadful for most of them.

Speaking of terrible, Ramires.

Those players play decent passes any other time so why but tonight? They're to blame.

So sick of hearing about De Bruyne he wasn't good enough and he wanted to leave.

well ofc he wanted to leave when oscar and willian were the preferred choice and lets be honest those 2 shouldnt be more than squad players

We had one - a REALLY f**king good one at that. Mata should never have been sold. Jose let Mata go because he wasn't quick enough, couldn't tackle and wouldn't track back often enough. He then signs Fabregas, someone who has all of the same flaws. Doesn't make sense to me.

We should sell Ramires and either Oscar or Willian, and try to sign Pogba. Play Matic and Pogba centre mid, then push Cesc into the number 10 slot IMO.

Funny... I could swear I saw Fabregas bombing around the pitch, talking for 120 minutes and leading the side today.

Just out of curiosity how exactly do you quantify a list of "best players" when they're all doing different jobs on the pitch?

what the f**k is wrong with loftus cheek, he's gotta be a better option in centre mid than zouma, surely? atleast he's young, and got hunger all this to young bollocks, the schalke  goalie was 19 last night FFS against real!

Well, if you have Ramires playing, know the team is going to struggle to string a decent incisive move together.

Shocked at the lack of energy and urgency from the players. Got all the lucky breaks they needed but still managed to screw it up.

What happened to that high energy pressing we saw at the start of the session? Willian came on and walked around the pitch whole second half.

This is Willian - the guy who will give you energy and pressing. Why was he just strolling around.

It's almost as if Jose's instructions had completely the wrong effect on the team.

He wanted to leave cause he had no patience and by the sounds of it a sh*t attitude to boot. Oscar and Willian adnittefly aren't as good as they should be but the stick they get is ridiculous. To many people don't realise there's a defensive side to football not just attacking.

Not doubting his commitment but come on, mate. The guy's great going forward but there's at least half a dozen times every game where an oppo player runs past him like he's not there. He's a yard off the pace defensively and I think most would agree with me.

I'm torn between gutted and fuming....
WTF is going on when we we play for the whole second half against ten men for a f**king nil nil draw....

We deserved what we got tonight, sitting on one nil was bad enough but to do it (once again i reiterate against TEN men) at 2-1 knowing that if they scored we were really in the sh*t beggars belief...
We had 45 minutes to batter them, and we played defensive counter attack (poorly i might add) FFS are we that sh*te that we have to park the f**king bus ALL the time ???
Utter dross tonight and for me Jose takes 100% of the blame, had he said go for it at half time the players would have obeyed and we would have been comfertable, it's obvious he didn't, i love the man, but tonight the chickens came home to roost, we threw this tie away THREE times because of sitting back after scoring ONE f**kING GOAL..

AGAINST TEN f**kING MEN FOR OVER AN HOUR !!!!!

Tonight is a perfect example of Jose's biggest flaw as a manager. Far too much focus on seeing out a game with small edges rather than pushing on and trying to kill off the tie. This Chelsea team is just not good enough to see out a 1 goal advantage for 60+ minutes. How many times did it cost us last season, and it's just came back to haunt us again.

Ramires is a great athlete but not a great footballer. Likewise Willian and Oscar. The latter pair don't score or assist anywhere near enough given the minutes they get. I would sell all 3 in a heartbeat, given the chance to bring in others.

We were just flat-out embarrassed by a team with 10 men, who'd lost their best striker and focal point - and the worst part is - it always felt like it was coming. Poor beyond belief.

I was just about to post the same. It's time for him to drop this mirage that our defending under pressure is good enough to hold 1-goal leads. Every time we've tried it this season we have either failed or nearly failed. Our good games have been games in which we pass and move, not sit back and defend. This isn't the 2004-2005 team.

PSG deserved to go though, they outplayed us in both matches and we didn't do anything about it.

If you ask me, Mourinho is the one to blame. His tactics were wrong all night, especially after Ibra got send off.

We have been horrific for weeks now and it's getting very annoying.

I've no doubt they might but the guy always puts a shift in and defends well.

Forgot to mention the abuse David Luiz got from our supporters from the minute him and Diego started the Brazilian circus was unfair and I'm sad it happened. All one has to do, if you can't remember his time with us, is to look at his facebook page and his posts about Chelsea the past few days. Wishing a happy birthday to the club, being happy to be back in London... Shame what has become of Stamford Bridge. But I doubt many true supporters who value such things got anywhere near the Bridge, which is usually the case nowadays.

You know, if anything, being top of the league with a game in hand should give us more freedom in the CL. Why not go for it and lose that way, if you lose at all? If you go out you tried and we still have a chance at the title. We have something left in our season. It should be less pressure, but everyone out there just seemed to be crushed under the pressure.

Horrific for a few weeks? We beat Tottenham to win silverware.
