Kenedy aka 'The New Hulk'

Featured Replies

Tim vickery wasn't to complimentary about him, called him a poor man's hulk

I can remember hearing Tim Vickery, the Spurs fan, claiming Paulinho was awesome before he went to Spurs. I'd hold fire on anything he says.

Was just about to say the same thing.

If you remember, Spurs bought Paulinho at the same time City bought Fernandinho.

Vickery said Spurs had bought twice the player at half the price.

Just repeating what I'd heard

Barcelona wanted first refusal on Kenedy, and got it and seems like they decided not to use it... he cant be bad if theyre wanting him.  Supposedly Real Madrid, Dortmund, PSG and Man Utd have been keeping tabs too

All those were also linked with Cuadrado as well.. Much melined on this forum

It does look like the club is looking at the success the likes of Benfica and Porto have had with young south american stars and trying to get at them early

Kenedy has just turned 19. Hulk didn't even move to Europe until he was 23...?
Again, not my opinion

Seeing a picture of him, I initially thought - ridiculous comparison. But after dissecting a few videos I have to say that comparison is spot on. Everything from the way he dribbles to his shooting technique and heavily favouring his left foot.

Interesting that The Daily Mail seem to think we could get a work permit for the lad?

Really not sure that I see him going straight into the first team squad.

Price tag, nationality and league appearances.

Yes I read the article but I'm very skeptical that he would be granted a work permit based purely on the fact that we've paid £6m for him.

He's got roughly 40 senior appearances which doesn't seem particularly impressive or exceptional. We were unable to secure a work permit for Wallace so I'm confused as to why supposedly we should be able to get one for this lad.

Like I said, I'm skeptical he'll get one.

I said he may well get a permit on the previous page, don't care about the article. Wallace was not a first team regular of the importance for Fluminense that Kenedy is and had half the appearances.

In any case permit rules have been changed since the Wallace transfer to become much more objective; being 19, worth over £6m and a first team regular for a top Brazilian side should push him over the line rather than having to persuade a panel of old fools, who were under increasing pressure to stop being so lenient with the system, that an unremarkable 18 year old defender would get game time ahead of Ivanovic and Azpilicueta.

Is there a chance he's come straight into the squad? From what I'm reading here sounds like that other option we need.

The Mail seem to think he is but then again it's the mail.

How many times have we bought a 19 year old and put them in the squad without the token loan?

The work permit I can't see being as straightforward as the mail put it either.
