Arsenal v. Chelsea (PL) 26/04/2015 KO: 16:00 GMT

You know the one thing which hurts the Gooners most? That they've never won the European Cup but Chelsea have. They talk about their rich and successful history (made possible by a moneybags owner but let's forget that) yet have never won the biggest trophy in football. Steaua Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade, Villa, PSV...but no Arsenal. It is like an enormous skidmark on their c.v. and they know it.

I was more dismayed at the "successfully win" than the split infinitive to be honest - no-one seems to care about split infinitives now.

Oh do you think so?????????????

Irony is there was only one cautious team yesterday and it wasn't Chelsea.

Who needed the win?

Who was too chicken to go for it?

Did they throw the kitchen sink at us, at any point, or were they scared of committing bodies forward, knowing what would happen?

Wenger was scared stiff of losing to Jose once again, so he played safe.

He even took off Giroud towards the end, instead of going two up front.

The result, a draw, no good for them but plenty for us.

Safety first Wenger hey? Who'd have thought?

I think you're seeing a distinct difference between older Arsenal fans, and those who have grown up under Wenger. This 'new breed' have been sold on the idea that all that money they spend is for fancy football and winning is a bonus. It's a loser's mentality.

George Graham and players from that era, and even some who came after were natural competitors and winning was the aim. The complete lack of irony with which Arsenal fans chanted 'boring Chelsea' is hilarious in itself. They're either morons or they're lying to themselves that they wouldn't take that a few matches a season (because that's the truth of the matter) if it won them the big prize.

I think it's just something to cling to because they never win anything, and it stems from Wenger. He really is a genius. He's somehow convinced the fans of a club with one of the highest wage bills around and the highest ticket prices in world football that they're really just paupers and that playing nice football is a moral victory (and we all know how that smug, self-righteous bunch love those) in the absence of actual victories. Oh we never wanted to win anyway, we just want pretty football.

When it comes down to it, though, you know most of them would trade Wenger for Mourinho in a heartbeat and they'd have all traded their grannies for a boring 1-0 win against us on Sunday.

Ashley Cole winning the European Cup hurts them to their core, it utterly destroys them. We can also lay claim to be the first ever winners of the Champions League from England's capital City. A City full of History, world famous landmarks, numerous football clubs, traditions… It symbolises power. London is world famous, perhaps only second to New York City in terms of influence, prestige and identifiable landmarks. No one can take that away from us and it burns.

I’m bias as I’m from London/South East but put aside your own home town and think about how the world views London, you may loathe it or think I’ve gone OTT but there’s a reason we attract so many tourists, are the settings for films, used to sell products and what have you.

I mean I saw tourists getting their picture taking in front of the Pudding Lane road sign the other day (I’m not sure they had the right angle as it’s up on the side of a building) A Road sign. Because of where a FIRE starded. Not a war, not something to do with Royalty, not a scene in a famous film.. but a fire. That's power.

Unless there’s something Beatley in Liverpool, I doubt a simple metal sign would generate any interest.

What was my point again?

Ah yes-

We’re the first club from London to win the European Cup, have that Goonies.

::clap2:: Proof that you and I don't always disagree

Arsenal may be no distinctions of Chelsea in the last 10 years, but build incredible stadium. Blue if you take something like this will fail and will delete the history. Abramovich will be forever at the forefront of this club and he leaves do not think I will leave it in perfect condition. Old and small stadium, permanently comply with financial fair play, senescent players ... we do not know who will take over then. Wenger on the other hand leaves an extraordinary legacy to their heirs - famed brand new stadium, financial stability, incredible school and especially "The Arsenal Way" - great football, sportsmanship and class. Things that Chelsea have never had and never will have. Teams like them and City are temporary, is see them where citizens are left only. Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool will always be the mark of the Premier League and to be at class and successful teams in London, Manchester and Liverpool. This figure would add Everton team won nine titles, more than any other team except the three mentioned above.

Thank you for your post, for old folk like me who need a bit of help, please could you list facts and evidence, you know titles, stats that type of thing. Thanks ever so.

Yeah who wants success when you can have a lifeless bowl for a stadium!

New stadium with the world's most expensive ticket prices despite not winning the league for 12 years, what a legacy!

Financial stability bought on by said expensive ticket prices and lack of on pitch success? Thanks Wenger!

Incredible school? I assume you're referring to the youth academy? Maybe you missed that Chelsea are the FA Youth Cup and Youth European Champions this season?

The Arsenal way? So that's playing sh*t until December, being out of the title race and then having a late season surge which leads all your fans to think that next year you're going to be challenging for the title?

I'll stick to the Chelsea way thanks... Y'know... Winning.

Things Chelsea will never have (according to that f**kwit) - All that rubbish he posted.

Things Arsenal will never have  - Champions League win...

Just a few small additions aswell although not in total league titles we are about to overtake them with Premier League titles this season.

I also love the fact they have never done back to back titles and we have aswell.

Sorry can't quite hear you over the clanging of trophies in the trophy room. "What's that we have another youth cup to add to it, better make it bigger lads. What no space? Maybe we can use Arsenal's until we find some more space here God knows they aren't using it".

Arsenal results 1997/1998:

Know your history Arsenal fans and respect your own history, you did exactly what we are doing in the past, but your 1-0 victories started back in March of 1998, so shut up, drop the jealous act and stop making yourselves look like idiots.

Had to laugh at the idea of Arsenal having "sportsmanship and class".

No doubt their deluded fans believe that but no one else does.
