We Need To Talk About Frank

Featured Replies

Frank is a Legend and will always be. I honestly think that in say, 5 years' time, we will look back on this whole Man City episode as a negligible blip on what has otherwise been a brilliant rapport between Frank and us fans.

He’s a legend and one of our best ever players, nothing can or will change that.

However moving to City might just swayed a few people towards JT as the greatest ever Chelsea player, I know it did a little with me.

Agree with that. But I think JT always had that bit more of a connection because he came through the ranks.

Plus he's hated as a person by opposition fans as much as we are as a club.

Lampard is a Chelsea legend of course, but after his behavior i can no longer respect him. He lied to us fans and he ended up joining our biggest domestic rivals. For me, that's unforgivable.

He's a Legend, end of.  One season at City, regardless of what he may of said, doesn't change that for me.  If it does for you, then you really let a throw away comment hold too much weight, or you've a very short memory.

Frank playing for Manchester City (albeit through a loan deal) doesn't detract from what he achieved with the club for thirteen years and while there was some growing frustration towards him during the season I honestly think it should be water under the bridge now.

He's still highly respected for mine and everyone will remember him as a Chelsea legend rather than as a person who played for Manchester City for one measly season most likely.

I've seen players leave in far worse circumstances and they're still well-liked by supporters of the club they ditched or undermined after they left. I agree with others here that Frank's absence on Sunday felt strange especially seeing Didier, JT and Cech all congregated together celebrating our title-winning success.

I'll never forget what Frankie did for us but it will forever be tarnished, no fixing it. I understand those who can put that aside but I just can't.

One season at a team that is likely to finish more than double figures in points behind us the year we are champions.

He's total appearance time this season in the league adds up to less than 9 full matches.

I appreciate you've got your own opinions on the matter but I would hope you can still consider Frank the legend he made 650 appearances for us and is the all time top goal scorer.

Did Frank know he was going to be loaned to Manchester City when he signed for New York City?

That seems to be a never ending debate.  Some saying Frank knew fully that he would, others saying that he was sent there because the owning partnership wanted him ready for MLS so City was going to be where he kept himself in game ready shape.  Then it all went pear shaped when, after the MLS started and Frank was supposed to leave....and he didn't.  Again, was that the plan all along, was Frank aware of this all along, or was it the control that his ownership party had being used at their will?

That seems to be a never ending debate.

I suppose we'll just have to wait for the inevitable autobiography (after he retires) to know how it really happened.

Frank must have many regrets over how he left chelsea with a whimper, seeing us win two trophies in his absence and then Gerrard getting the kind of send off yesterday he would have had if he'd been prepared to do a 'Drogba', play less and for less money...very sad really

I'm not the sort of fella who in a few years' time will miss the dressing-room banter. That's not me.'

I find that surprising. For someone who's been such a team man his whole career, I'd have thought he'd have loved that side of things. It does seem to be really good at Chelsea, based on what we see, and the fact that the vast majority of players seem very happy and settled there suggests the spirit and dressing-room banter is particularly good.

I know Frank is a lot brighter than the average footballer but I've always thought he was at the heart of things ta the club.
