Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2015/2016

So Liverpool dive and get a pen, Oscar gets bungled to the ground and gets told to get up.

Quality reffing this weekend eh?

As good as that lino that allowed Diego's goal against Norwich.

That was clearly a penalty, his knee hit Benteke's foot on the follow through. Obviously went down easily but it's still a penalty.

There's no way the ref or lino could have seen the contact though...

That post-match interview told you all you need to know: "I think he touched me, the referee knows better than us"

I'd like to think think the player supposedly fouled would know with more certainty than the ref if he was touched or not...

He felt something, threw himself to the ground.

I didn't see any contact. Benteke clearly made the choice to go down... and beside that I'm sick of this nonsense that contact equals penalty, It doesn't!

His knee clips Benteke's heel, the majestic swan dive that followed afterwards was truly something special though.

There was never enough contact to go down, and he was on his way down before the contact. Massive dive.

Dirty animal Juan Mata sent off, he was never like that with us. Manchester has ruined him.....

Loads of people debating it on Twitter too. I'm with Gary Lineker & Jody Morris.

I reckon pretty much every striker in the league would have gone down there. Maybe not quite as theatrically as Benteke though...

I'm not sure that video evidence will help in some red card incidents. How do you prove a player's intent? Refs are making mistakes but, taking the Mata example today, how long would that take to sort out via replays? It takes Rugby Union refs 5 minutes plus to decide if a ball is over the try line and grounded.

They would have definitely gone down, but I still think it shouldn't be a penalty. Contact doesn't mean a foul, or at least it bloody shouldn't, but does now. Football is sh*t .

Yeah that's it. Nowadays, contact does mean it's a foul and it's ridiculous.

I think a player's reputation is arguably more important than the incident now.

Which is why we don't get blatant penalties while others get joke ones. So inconsistent.
