You know the FA Cup has lost it's glory when teams like Hull are turning their noses up at it, 6/7 changes made tonight and Brucey says after the game, 'It was a good game to give them a run out in', A place in the FA Cup quarter finals is viewed as a game to give the 2nd string a run out in.

I'm sure it would be a big payday to be the next Newcastle manager but surely any half decent manager would avoid it at all costs.

Their defenders are just dreadful and the squad is full of players that don't give a sh*t. Incredibly difficult job.

Maybe they'll get Hiddink too

I think there's been a huge change dkw , can't see him in the game again. Much more knowledge and accountability since Rix et al, we're now post Savile in awareness.

Not on these shores but China and the likes? I'd not be surprised.

There was a Scottish footballer who was doing sexual things over webcams to minors and he played over in Lithuania I think after being put on the register.

All depends off course, if he's behind bars for 5 odd years he will be nearing his mid 30's so that's retirement to many pro's.

I think it's totally understandable in Hull's case. Even if they managed to somehow win the FA cup this year, the reward would be a drop in the ocean compared to getting promoted this season and getting a chunk of the TV rights next season.

I do agree with you about the FA cup losing it's glory though. The FA can take a huge amount of credit for that.

I think that has more to do with them fighting for promotion the season PL clubs are going to have a huge revenue increase. If they were 9th I doubt they would have made so many changes

People often say it's the big clubs that are killing the fa cup, when it's actually the lesser sides...most of the top teams field strong line-ups...we always do, same goes for league cup..it's the clubs whose sole aim is to survive in pl or who are battling for promotion in championship that undermine the competition on an annual basis..Bruce even moaned about earning a replay against the arse in the first place...piss poor attitude from someone supposedly old school and brought up knowing traditions of fa cup

Yep. The great tradition of the FA Cup died a little bit more last night. Didn't look like anyone wanted to be playing that match and I don't think too many neutrals will have bothered watching. I made the most of an early night.

I watched it instead of the two CL games on offer.

Travesty the boring games of last night and having Arsenal - Barcelona and Juventus - Munich at the same bloody time.

See the Arsenal supporters were unfurling that banner last night, and now the bloke who did it is having a Twitter fight with Ian Wright of all people.

Must be great to be able to chat to a guy you loved as a hero growing up....and then for him to call you a mug.

Premier League clubs have agreed plans to cap away tickets at £30 for the next three seasons.

The cost of watching football has been a hot topic of debate, with supporters at Liverpool organising a high-profile protest over proposed increases in season ticket prices.

Now the top flight's 20 clubs have "unanimously agreed" that more should be done to help away fans.

The £30 away ticket cap will be introduced from next season.

In a statement, the Premier League said away fans were "essential for match atmosphere" and helped make the league unique.

It also recognised that away fans often had travel costs to pay on top of the price of a matchday ticket.

The Football Supporters' Federation has long campaigned for cheaper tickets and wanted prices for away fans capped at £20.

Great news. I rarely go to away matches but for those that go to every game it'll make a huge difference. Hopefully this is only the start.

Now greatly drop players wages and reduce the prices for home games and football will start to look a little fairer to us mere mortals.

I don't understand the drop players wages bit? I think musicians and movie stars are equally over paid, You could mention American sports stars also, Yet for the moments footballers provide for fans around the world, I think they're the one's who deserve their money the most, Willy Caballero being the perfect example, Does f-ck all for 2 years earning 60 k a week and then provides me with a life long memory.

Justin Bieber and Kanye West make awful music yet get paid the same silly amount of money, Rooney is also earning that silly money but if he scored the winner in a Manc derby which led to Utd pipping us to the title imagine how many smiles he'd put on fans faces and i'm using my greatest rival as the example here, What joy do Justin Bieber or a George Clooney provide long term for their 'customer'?

I have no source on this just something i heard from a guy at work but he said that UEFA aren't happy with BT because the viewing figures for CL are poor. It wouldn't surprise me tbh, especially as a lot of people aren't even aware of the free games they are seen as though you have to view them via freeview. True or not I still feel BT have ruined CL coverage, heck I bet Liverpool vs United tonight is higher rates than any CL game they've shown so far.

There was an article in the Daily Telegraph about this a few weeks back. Forgot to post at the time.

Ahh that's pretty much what he said. Doesn't make for good reading for the European competitions. I think there could be more talk of that Super League idea which I hate.

Steve McClaren has been reportedly sacked and Newcastle are apparently in advanced talks with Benitez for him to take over the managerial job.
