March 6, 201610 yr Which is why we don't get blatant penalties while others get joke ones. So inconsistent. Yeah, although any time Oscar doesn't get a penalty I just think it's his own fault to be honest. Same goes for Suarez, Young, Januzaj and loads others.

March 6, 201610 yr Mike Dean strikes again https://twitter.com/CelebrityRefs/status/706531742853808128 that was more on the player than the reff imo
March 6, 201610 yr Yeah, although any time Oscar doesn't get a penalty I just think it's his own fault to be honest. Same goes for Suarez, Young, Januzaj and loads others. Bit harsh to lump Oscar in with them. Kinda like how Fabregas has a reputation in refs eyes even though he doesn't ever dive. Oscar can get knocked out and refs do nothing. Very, very harsh to say its own fault.

Very, very harsh to say its own fault. Yeah you're probably right. He's not really in the same league as those others. I think I'm just a bit down on Oscar at the moment. I'm with you on Fabregas for the most part, but let's not forget the UCL semi final in 2012
March 6, 201610 yr Costa got booked for diving in his first game for us didn't he, and it was a clear penalty. Refs are f**kwits
March 6, 201610 yr I thought they had turned a corner? They've turned so many corners they are back where they started.
March 7, 201610 yr Going back to the Mata red card, I was quite interested with a quote from LVG. He said that "The referee has to know the person who makes the tackle," and "Mata never hurts an opponent." Though I still love the little guy and i'm sure Mata really never intends to hurt anyone, a tackle is a tackle and a yellow card offense deserves a yellow card. To me it is absolutely wrong to take into consideration "who the person" that committed the foul is, because it stops the ref from looking at things objectively and give a fair call. IMO that is one of the huge problems our players are facing...apparently everyone in football thinks we're a bunch of divers and cheats and that any separate occasion cannot be seen objectively. We actually do lose a lot of calls (whether penalties or otherwise) and it has a lot to do with how most view us.

I agree, but at the same time refs SHOULD take into account that Charlie Adam is a dirty bar steward and should be on the look out for him in a way that they aren't with a player like Mata. I remember a few years ago Graham Poll saying he reffed players differently if they were nice to him (I may be paraphrasing here). In other words, if you show respect you might get away with stuff that you would get booked or sent off for if you treat refs with contempt. Poll always had it in for us - plenty of evidence to back that up, like Spuds away and the FAC semi v Liverpool - so maybe we didn't help things with our attitude to him.

It's not because of what LVG said, but i just don't think the tackle was a yellow card offense. I final warning would have been fair enough.
