Chelsea v Fiorentina

Featured Replies

I just hope nobody in that squad goes on loan, especially traore. It's a little worrying José decided to play traore at LB and cuadrado at RW. We are looking at bringing in a LB, traore played at LB, so 2 and 2 together and I'm thinking the worst. Apart from Oscar and falcao (to an extent, showing positive intent anyhow) traore was one of the only ones willing to get forward and attack them.

We won every pre season match last season and just about managed to finish 4th.

The modern day fan gets his knickers in a twist far too easily.

You lot will be fine and challenge for the title this season with City and possibly Arsenal.

Still too early for us (United).

I just hope that the poor pre-season is part of JM's master plan (I wouldn't put it past him )

There was enough good stuff last night to suggest we will be ok, but the lack of goals or even shots on target is starting to worry me. All the neat approach play in the World is no good if you don't get the ball in the old onion bag (Arsenal ??) and we look devoid of striking instinct. I like Traore and hope he remains in the Squad. Mikel MUST go before 31 August he is not getting any better., ditto Cuadrado.

a boring 1-0 against Swansea on Saturday evening will kick start things and I am already praying feverishly that Costa is fit !!

anyone else impressed by aina? i thought he was one of the standouts. i really hope he develops because he would be brilliant as back up RB.

Looked quite good. Liked to get forward too. Could be a good back up and can apparently play in the left and the right. If the Baba signing goes through then will have 3 out of 4 wing backs that can play either side

For an 18yo, he fitted in like a glove, I was impressed.

Thought Mikel was utterley appalling last night. We had the full house from him - slow, lumbersome and lazy passing.

It's night and day between him and Matic. As a backup I'd still rate Romeu as a better option. Is he even still on our books? It's hard to keep up these days!

We had mixed bags of results from last pre-season, then ended up playing phenomenal against Burnley.

I wouldn't press the panic button just yet.

Not optimistic though. We have looked extremely poor...

My highlights were his air shot from outside the box, his half-arsed effort to block the shot that hit the bar, and that moment when he collected the ball off the defence and played a blind pass to absolutely nobody and the ball went into touch.

Yep. 3 points on Saturday and it's all forgotten.

Or 0 points and confirmation that it wasn't "just preseason".

Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine.

1 home defeat in something like 98 league games under Mourinho.

A little bit of faith wouldn't hurt.

Mikel was particularly bad last night. Hopefully rlc doesn't pick up any bad habits!

Underwhelming pre season

But the real test is against Swansea and then City. I think that will be the real judge of where we are, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a mediocre season though, especially if Costa doesn't stay fit, and Falcao doesn't look like he's going to be any good, no matter how much faith José has in his powers to rejuvenate him.

I think we will retain the title. So sorry for being optimistic.

I like it! I want to believe it....hopefully this weekend will give us something to cheer about.

Still on Loan, and I though He played the other night (Romeu) against MK Dons.??

Here's a link to a daily mail story (sorry about the DM link, but it's the most recent one I could find) where he talks about Matic showing how you can come back a better player, and how he wants to learn from Jose.  Trouble is, it was AVB that signed him, so not sure how much interest Jose will even have in him

we've played some of the best stuff I've seen for a while going forwards????

I know it was pre season match and we played our B team but still I think it was poor performance. The amount of money we spent on some of those players doesn't reflect their performance even in the pre season match. It seems that Cuadrado is one of our weakest players.

No more excuses he didn't have pre season.

Coming down from Renfrewshire with my 15 year old for our first game at the Bridge, a few years ago when in London we did the Stadium tour and ever since as well as Rangers, Chelsea are now his team, we're off on holiday next week but all he talks about is he's going to see Chelsea play at Stamford Bridge.

Hey, where in Renfrewshire you from?

I have a house located down in Greenock.
