John Stones

Featured Replies

That woudn't surprise me if they did sign him but why any young promising defender would want to go there I don't know, Smalling and Jones have not improved since they have been there and Roho and Shaw are struggling too.

Where's that coming from?

I think he's one of the losers who got banned and has rejoined with a really really funny name...

Or Davey babey.

Got a link? Not questioning you, just wondered what he's said. Cheers.

Peter Reid: 'If John Stones believes he can get into the Chelsea first team then he has to make the move to Stamford Bridge - that's just the way of modern football. Players these days put personal ambition over club loyalty. As an Evertonian I'd obviously love him to stay, but the kid needs to do what's best for his own career development'

''Sources'' say Everton refused a 30 mill pound bid,he is not worth more than that no way.Still every club knows we will pay over the odds if we really want him.

If thats from ESPN their sources are the daily mail's Simon Jones, who himself does write ups on gossip column stories.  Id take both stories with a mammoth pinch of salt.

(ALthough i have said previously i think 30m basic offer will get rejected.)

Be interesting to see whether we do even bid again, i swear one paper reckoned it would be lodged by tonight... might hear something tomorrow. Doubt it though

His agent hasn't said anything, has he? Even he's in no rush to move this year, we will certainly be playing into Everton's hands by keeping bidding. Buying for potential is fine, but football these days is all about this season, or this weekend in our cases. I hate to see us empty handed by the time the window closes, or with a ridiculous fee to sign Stones, and not reinforcing more critical areas of the team. Maybe the club is working in the background to sign attacking players, we are just not aware of that yet.

Danger I feel is that if we don't move this window next year Stones will be even more expensive, sought after and has less time to leave from JT. It's a tough spot to make the right decision in.

Thought there would be some movement on it this week, not to say there hasn't been either way but I'd like to personally be kept up to date. I don't think thats too much to ask for.

probably been no bid or whatever. I thought there would have been/will be though as every media outlet reported it.

better than 49 million for SWP I mean Sterling

Is the purported interest from Manu an indication that a deal with CFC is getting close and Everton are now trying to force up the price?

I'd say yes, apparently Otamendi is there no 1 priority and it seems unlikely they'll splash that cash on Stones as well. But who can guess with LvG's shotgun approach to buying players!

United are apparently on the brink of signing Otamendi so I would guess this is as much about them trying to get a good deal from Valencia as it is about Everton trying to push up with price with us.
