For every one of this type of comment you have to have, somewhere, honoured Jose for the times he got it bang on, like 4 months ago for example.

Welcome btw.

you are right i'm from middle east and i'm a fan of Chelsea because of jose mourinho since 2004 ... i didn't watch my favorite local team game in asian champions league to watch chelsea match ...and after the poor performance ...mourinho comment is : we did really good game , we were really good...etc and his excuse is we just made a mistake in the second goal ?! we are lucky we didn't receive 4 or 5 more goals...first player i expected to be on the bench is ivanovic after mourinho warnings for senior players in the team... i think the third season syndrome for mourinho is real

thank you

they don't have it in the Champions League....bizarre

That is bizarre......they spend all of that money on it and it's been a massive success so far, but they won't use it in the biggest cup competition in club football :huh2:

Same as it was a straight forward task for Barcelona there last season aye.......

I'm not saying it should be a God given right we win there but we should be aiming for a better result than a draw which seemed to be the general consensus on here

Rahman and Hazard linked well on the left against tel aviv in our previous champions league outing. Rahman had pace, power and stamina allowing him to drive forward on the overlap giving Hazard the opportunity to come inside and do damage or knock it wide to Rahman to put one into the box. Daves a right back anyway so no problems there.

Zouma is young and needs guidance, Terry can't offer that to him from the bench. I think Zouma has the makings of a defensive leader and he won't learn that playing alongside Cahill.

I'm not saying Cahill can't do his job, I'm saying that when David Luiz played alongside Terry he looked like he knew what he was doing...says a lot about Terry as a leader as well as world class defender

Porto are a good team and no shame in getting beat away from home. The manner in which we played is most unChelsea and unJose like. We played OK in spells I thought but Jose needs to bring JT back and drop Ivan. I hope we invest in January to have a few other options

It's one thing to have options, it's another to actually use those options.

I fully agree with you, but José doesn't seem to like options.

I don't know why things are so disjointed at the moment, but if anyone can fix it Jose can.

For sure we must stick with Jose, the idea that he can be replaced easily is a joke. We have the team and the manager, whatever is wrong will in time be fixed, i wish it would happen quickly but im not worried that it wont be, it will.

It's all about Ivan, for me.  His mistakes are crushing us.

No idea what's wrong but for sure his confidence has gone.   He's been brilliant for us and hopefully he gets better but just now he is our biggest liability.

Anyway...Costa was really good, Zouma is still only 20, Kenedy gets more minutes and Begovich is a brilliant number 2 goalie.

As to Hazard not going down for a penalty...I'm a bit conflicted about that.   Grudgingly think it's great...especially after all the Porto theatrics after 'fouls'.

It must be so disheartening for Baba that Ivanovic can play how he does and still get picked ahead of him. It's sad that somebody who has been so important for us over the years has become such a liability.

For those that want Mourinho to get sacked, consider the the number of great managers vs great players? In a decade how many great managers will be available in comparison to great players?

If you don't know what I'm trying to get at my point is we have one of the greatest managers in football history managing our club who are few and far between. On the other hand players that aren't committed or motivated to meet the standards Chelsea expect can be replaced quite easily.

No terry and courtious = no defence

No matic = no protection

No hazard = no spark

No cannero = no spirit

When this many people have an off day at the same time or are missing no wonder we can't play.

I think Jose must start looking at himself. A team isn't bad overnight, but the spirit can go bad that fast.

I think the Ivanovic situation which may also extend to other players in the team is due to the small squad we like to play with. The advantage is that it gives players confidence and opportunity to develop a good understanding and team spirit playing week in week out with the same group. On the flip side it allows players to become comfortable and complacent due to the lack of competition for places...tough one for a manager

It's not even just Ivanovic though, the whole team look shot of confidence. Willian and maybe Costa were probably the only ones showing any fight and that's just not good enough. JT needs to be back in the side no idea why he has been taken out in the first place we are lacking leadership on the pitch and our most important players are playing poorly.

Do not agree with Jose that it was a good performance we were 2nd best most of the game, compare this team to the 1 that started last season and there is no comparison, the players need to take a long hard look at themselves or next year a majority of them won't even be at the club.

Can't fault Ramires for Porto's second, I think the coaches are culpable personally... did he get a shout from anyone? Although it was a low cross it would seem we miss a Drogba-esque presence defending the near post - Azpi isn't exactly an aerial threat so who knows why he isn't 'marking' the near post at corners?

As for Brano, again just highlights that against pacey skillful wingers his time is up at RB... his 'hit and hope' crosses from wide were abysmal once again (to put it kindly).

Mikel, Ramires, Azpi, Diego all played well and if memory serves Cahill/Zouma didn't make too many mistakes.

Pedro/Fabregas were both anonymous? I'm yet to be convinced either are good enough to consider ourselves pretenders for the CL, and am bemused why Jose continues to select Fabregas for tough away days (personally I felt Matic was better suited for this game alongside Ramires/Mikel).

Edited by the special one

Don't understand why we never have players on the post now. How many times did Ashley Cole save us by staying on his post? But Jose seems to think it's not required.

Hope Jose doesn't read this thread. According to him the defence wasnt troubled tonight apart from two mistakes that resulted in their goals.

Obviously we know nothing about football.

To be fair we dont, not compared to him. Thats why he is the manager and we are shooting the sh*t on a forum.

More of the same, I guess when people saw the team sheet, they knew what was coming. Some credit for Jose to drop Matic and Hazard, but he's working around the real problem rather than trying to fix it. How is Mikel going to help when Ivanovic get ripped apart again? How is dropping Hazard work when we still leave the gaping hole in the middle thanks for Cesc? I'm disappointed Porto didn't put 2-3 more past us, so Jose could not come up with the excuse about individual mistakes cost the game. My guess is Jose came here to play for an draw, that's why 2 strikers and Oscar were left at home, and Mikel/Ramires in the starting team. The only thing we won in this game is the meaningless possession, they beat us fair and square. I think our current level is about beating up teams from lower divisions, poor teams in Europe, and Arsenal on a good day.

Or he is making one mistake after another and the 'jose knows best' dim wits wont say a bad word about him!
