Eden Hazard to Real Madrid

Featured Replies

We as fans deserve better from our best players, I don't remember Zola ever offering so little over a sustained period.

At which point does the manager become culpable for Hazard's ineffective season to date?

A player of Hazard's supposed talent, I would be expecting at least a couple if goals and assists from him at this point.

He should be able to conjure something from nothing but he's playing badly and not taking on the burden or responsibility to drag games into our favour.

He's supposed to be looking to compete with Messi and Ronaldo as one of the best players in the world, right now he's not even performing as the best attacker in a side sitting 15th.

There's only so much Jose can do, once the players cross that white line it's on them.

Agreed. Can't blame Jose for every player's faults. You can't expect Jose to hold his hand throughout his career.

Yesterday's game showed a lot about him. Absolutely no effort and passion shown whatsoever. Where's that desire to win?

He was supposed to be our best player but he is now a shadow of himself last season. Honestly speaking, if he can't encourage himself to improve his performance then I'm fine if we get someone else here to do the job.

At least they are more likely to have the desire to better themselves in each game.

He's signed through 2020 yes? If he wants out and we can't get our valuation or a player in exchange we want then Eden should get the Malouda treatment. If we aren't getting the fee he's 'worth' anyway, give his minutes to someone who will put in the work.

Wouldn't giving him 'the malouda treatment' only harm us even more financially? His value would drop dramatically, plus we would paying 200k a week for him to train with youth team, all the while playing a youth player that may or may not be any better than hazards current form.

If the club wants to sell and ge wants to go. We should just get rid for the best price on offer.

Personally i'd persevere with him for another season in the hope a new manager, can at the very least bump his price tag back up.

Unless of course he puts a transfer request in, which it seems alot of the fans on here want him to do now anyway.

The half time shirt swap with Di Maria last night was the last straw for me. That really was a slap in the face to the fans and the club who have supported him throughout the season so far, despite the fact he has shown a clear lack of interest for the most part.

Id prefer he stay as well. If hes not performing though why not give his minutes to Kenedy or Traore? Fair point we pay him alot but shouldnt underperforming players be dropped? Let him rot on the bench or get motivated if we're going to sell him for peanuts anyway. It will cost us his wages but it may also light a fire in him

Am i the only one that thinks he seems depressed? He's been sh*t all season and I don't want to defend him but i've lived with someone with serious depression for the last 3 years and it seems very similar. No energy, almost wanting to hide away, and having thousands of fans booing you can do this thing to you. Obviously i'm not having a dig at the fans because they have very right to let the players know when they're not happy but to me it seems like there are underlying issues. Much like when he should've had the penalty but just let Oscar take it (and miss..), he didn't put up any fight.

A few ill-advised comments and the shirt swap just seem like mistakes to me. He has no agent, so no one to tell him what to say in interviews. Shirt swaps at half time in France are common. If player came up to him and asked for his shirt i bet he just thought 'yeah okay'. Seemed to regret it afterwards the way he picked up the pace and ran down the tunnel like he knew he'd done something wrong.

A player to dip this much in form and for their behaviour to change just seems a little strange to me.

Depression?

I very much doubt it given the way he comes across on interviews and from the vids we see in training.

He just looks like he cant be arsed.

It's very easy to put on a front. 'Looks like he cant be arsed.' Is very easy to say to write off these issues many times. I may be wrong but it is just my opinion from life experiences.

You say depressed, I say he wants to be elsewhere and is a lazy sod.

"I mentioned this in other thread but maybe

others can confirm this. I heard the reason hazard swapped shirts with di Maria at halftime is because hazard had met with a terminally ill child and the child told hazard one of his heroes is angel di Maria. The terminally ill child asked hazard if he could get di Maria’s jersey for him. Hazard obviously obliged. This is reportedly coming from Chelsea’s kit manager and apparently hazard had told his teammates beforehand that he was going to do

this."

Another interesting thing on WAGNH someone said was

'It is interesting to compare the general reaction to Costa calling for a sub and Hazard calling for a sub, especially after the latter tried to play on after first realizing he was hurt.'

Hazard realised he was injured a good 15 minutes before he went off, good on him for trying to stay on and fight.

Always two sides to a coin, some just ignore the other side...

But doesn't that completely ignore the past few months that led up to this? I think it's interesting to pretend that people are only reacting to the sub or only reacting to the shirt swap, when the truth is that this is about a season's worth of issues.

Both came in overweight, both were poor for the first few months but Costa actually got back to form and has been fighting ever since. Now if the same is true of Hazard then maybe that person's comment is valid, but I don't think it is true.

As for him getting a souvenir for a terminally ill boy, that's weird on so many levels. Firstly, if you meet Hazard or any great player, don't say your hero is Angel Di Maria. But swapping shirts on the pitch when there's a tunnel, changing rooms and time after the match to do it just seems very naive. If he didn't realise then we'll add that to a growing list of things he doesn't quite understand, like what to say in interviews. I don't think it's as big a crime as some obviously do, but in the wider context of his actions this year it was certainly inadvisable.

The issue with the players at the start of the season was evidently Mourinho i don't buy the whole weight story fully, he seems to have pissed them all off to the point where they no longer play for him. Almost as soon as he went Costa was on fire again, as were the rest of the team and as Hazard is trying.

Costa was unfit, he started doing two-a-days under Jose and his fitness returned, with his form following.

The weight thing isn't a story though. There are pictures that show it and Costa himself has said he was, and taken responsibility for it. Eden was overweight at the start of last season too. Blaming everything on Jose makes sense from a certain perspective, but I don't think it holds up under scrutiny nor do I think it's helpful going forwards.

Very easy to say they didn't want to play for Jose when they also play for this club, the badge and the supporters though.

Fair play if true but surely you have a quick word behind the scenes and swap or obtain the top within the changing room area NOT in the middle of the pitch and NOT at half time.

Either he is thick or rubbing noses into the dirt!

Agree mate.

I'm against selling Hazard. He is clearly out of form and have had some minor injury problems, but I want to see how he would perform next season under a new manager, new formation (4-3-3) and a working central midfield. I think using Hazard as a wide forward in 4-3-3 would be alot more productive.
