September 30, 201510 yr As much as I love Mourinho im just not sure he is a long term solution to our problems and he doesn't seem to be able to get the best out of the players this season and never really has got them playing the type of football that Roman always wanted. Ancelotti for me was perfect for the club - great guy, professional and a good image for the club...but more so i really miss the attacking football we played under him. I think he is a long term loyal type of manager that can build a team and can get the best out of the players and motivate them. I would love Roman to bring him back maybe at the end of the season. I'd love a manager that can bring through youth like RLC and believe Ancelotti would do this more so than Mourinho at present Anyone else would love Carlo back? September 30, 201510 yr i think there would be a few raised eyebrows if roman sacked jose and brought back carlo

September 30, 201510 yr I LOVE Carlo, always have done and always want him to win. I'd love him back at some point........ However, I'd still keep Mourinho for a long time yet.
September 30, 201510 yr Lie Carlo but as someone here rightly pointed out he had no plan b and that's one the reasons we struggled in his second season. He might have more European Cups on his CV and be more likeable but he isn't as good as Jose.
September 30, 201510 yr The resemblance to Carlos second season and what's happening now is quite intriguing. A poor Summer in the transfer window as defending Champions Key players not performing A bizarre internal staffing issue A manager seemingly incapable of recognising or doing anything about the slide Then came THAT transfer deadline day and a very inglorious dismissal. I wouldn't bet against something similar happening this time but before May, especially if qualification for the CL is at serious risk.
September 30, 201510 yr Would probably still be here with more league titles if not sacked a year after the double. Kind of feel the same about Mourinho. Polar opposites in many ways but two of my top favorites.

We finished 2nd under Carlo we were never battling relegation. We signed Pedro, Rahman, Begovic & Falcao in the summer while keep the majority of our best players. Carlo on the other hand was only given Ramires & Benayoun yet lost Cole, Ballack, Deco, Carvalho & Belletti. We started like a house on fire but as soon as Drogba got the Malaria virus & Lamps picked up a long term injury, he was forced to rely on kids who pale in comparison to the quality of Kenedy, RLC, Traore & the numerous gems we still have stuck in the academy. September 30, 201510 yr Author Agree with Gilvorak that Ancelotti's second season is not comparable to this he was sacked even though he achieved well by finishing second having lost key players and not replacing them. Mourinho has had better backing in the transfer market but also spent more wisely (Torres & Luiz for Ancelotti). We did have a fair few defeats that season but he got us firing again without good quality signings and it was oftena goal fest with Carlo due to the style of play which never made it boring. He struggled against Fergie at United that was his main problem with the CL quarter final exit which probably led to his sacking but Roman seems more patient nowadays

I think it's very similar. We did start well but had a very easy run of fixtures - then we got found out and Carlo seemed incapable of doing anything about it. We did manage to pull ourselves backup in the second half of the season, the two new signings in their own way galvanised the team but 2nd (on goal diff) flattered us, Utd had a really wobble that made it closer than it actually was. That season, for the most part we played clueless, numbingly slow and lifeless football, very similar to what we are seeing now. In many respects it's worse now as we have a better set of players (as you said). For me the big worry is that Mourinho doesn't seem to acknowledge there is a major issue - his post match comments are f**king frightening - whereas before I guess Carlo did seem to know it was going wrong. The similarity for me is that neither manager seemed capable of doing anything about it.
September 30, 201510 yr Nice guy but over rated manager. We got destroyed both years in the CL that he was here.
September 30, 201510 yr Author I'll be honest I always missed his style of football and want him back at the club..even in May when we were playing sh*t football pretty much for the whole of 2015. Not disrespecting Mourinho he is great as well and I was as ecstatic as everyone else to win the League again, just can't forget how good it felt to win 5,6, or 8-0 most weeks and see the team play how they did under him...can you imagine Hazard under him?
September 30, 201510 yr Nice guy but over rated manager. We got destroyed both years in the CL that he was here. And we have been outplayed in both CL exits since Mourinhos return too.Carlos first season was magical, in terms of the football played and the silverware earned - the second not so good but there were a few things out of his control. I always felt he deserved a third season and the manner in which he was dispatched was dreadful. Edited September 30, 201510 yr by bjd
September 30, 201510 yr Author totally agree with above - yes he may have got found out a bit and not as good second season but he picked it up at the end and given a decent transfer kitty I think he could have won much more for us in the third and fourth season had we kept him. Those CL wins for Milan and the general job he did there shows to me he is a worthy manager that deserved longer at Chelsea. I also enjoyed the way we played under Hiddink when he was here as well. September 30, 201510 yr I always rated him above Jose. So i will take him ahead of Jose anytime. Jose is just overrated
September 30, 201510 yr There are some things I miss about Carlo and there are some things I definitely dont miss. Remember how he used to give his starting 11's during the press conference ?
September 30, 201510 yr And we have been outplayed in both CL exits since Mourinhos return too. Carlos first season was magical, in terms of the football played and the silverware earned - the second not so good but there were a few things out of his control. I always felt he deserved a third season and the manner in which he was dispatched was dreadful. I would have to disagree. Last season we got knocked out without losing a game. Not really being destroyed. Also people forget that we struggled under Carlo. They remember the late run we went on when we beat teams 5,6 or 8 nill but it wasnt long before that we were struggling. I liked Carlo and I did feel bad for him they way he was sacked but I never felt confident with him in charge. This is just my opinion.
September 30, 201510 yr So we get Carlo back, he does well for a bit, then the team start to drop their level and what happens? We realise that we all miss Hiddink and want him back? Then we remember what Di Matteo did for the club and think we should hire him again? And then we realise that the best manager in the world is still Mourinho? We'll keep going round in circles, let's just back the manager we have right now, he's still the best in the world
September 30, 201510 yr Author It's also about the style of football and the development of youth buddy - not just form and results. No one is saying they want Mourinho axed, just pointing out that even when we play well under Mourinho its not as satisfying as playing well under other managers. IF Mourinho can resolve it and the get the team playing better football like we all crave and if he actually wants to stay long term and won't be tempted by for instance United after Van Ghoul leaves then were in for a grat few years as Chelsea fans Edited September 30, 201510 yr by CFC1982

I'm agreeing that we struggled under Carlo, if you read my posts! Sometimes it was awful, we looked as bad as we do now. We certainly were not destroyed in the last 2 CL exits under Mourinho but we did not deserve to go through in either. Against Madrid we were well beaten all over the pitch and prob more so as we were against Man Utd and Inter under Carlo. PSG last year was bizarre but nobody could argue the right team didn't go through.
