I don't agree with the way he is setting our team up every game but i won't be calling him a coward for it, it's so pathetic. I hardly see how he is a coward anyway, no coward would throw Mikel into the first team every game and not start Hazard.

 

You need one defensive / holding midfielder. If you don't start Mikel you have to start Matic. Or best case scenario experiment with RLC. So the argument is pointless. Hazard and Mikel aren't competitors for starting slots.

Is clear that at this age, Guus is tactically weak. His strength is motivating and uniting players. That squad was totally dysfunctional when he arrived. Now they are motivated and united and could do really well if they had a manager who is also tactically strong.

Every manager had strengths and weaknesses. When Jose left, they needed a manager with Guus's strengths more than they needed a tactical genius. I think Guus has taken them as far as he can, which is much better than earlier in the season and a good foundation for the next season. He was the right manager for them to hire on an interim basis. But I wouldn't expect miracles the rest of this season.

Good fight back, definitely deserved the point and could have been more. When we actually started to play, we were a much better team than the one we fielded first. It's been the defensive team and tactic that cost us the points in the last 4 days. In a way, I was glad we conceded, otherwise we would have hold out for a 0:0. Costa is our savior, we just need to do everything we could to keep him. There's no point getting $ if you can't replace the player. Hazard looked better, really should have started. Let's hope Zouma wasn't hurt as badly as it looked. Lastly, another point towards the magic 40.

Costa is only a valuable player when he's managed effectively. Guus clearly "gets" Costa, and in return Costa has been willing to move mountains to please Guus. Whether to keep him depends on the next manager.

Couldn't agree with you more. I like Guus, but we have nothing to play for in the league this season. I can't fathom as to why he doesn't let the team express themselves and rotate players to give them game time and experience

He's paranoid about relegation. Not just scared and overly cautious but paranoid. Gotta agree with Arsene Wenger on that.

Although I'm satisfied with a draw in the context of this season I feel like we were very unlucky not to take all three points today. We got off to terrible starts in both halfs but came back each time and I think we edged it overall. A few players are still underperforming but what's new.

I hope Zouma's OK. I also really want Mata back.

Totally agree. A few months ago the players would have given up. This time they showed good spirit to the very end and would have won with a lesser goalkeeper.

Zouma's injury could be career threatening if it's a torn ACL. He's very young so that will hopefully help.

Lol this thread is absolutely ridiculous.
We played well after 25 minutes and we were playing good football it was expansive high tempo and the passing was reasonably slick, and it was probably one of our more exciting performances and I'm sure the game would have been enjoyable for the neutral.

Yet reading this thread you would think we played ultra negative cowardly football and were lucky for the draw. 

Also how is Hiddink cowardly for starting Mikel next to Matic, It was a tactical decision where Matic is playing in a box to box role to match Fellaini going forward and going back.
And considering he doesn't want to risk Hazard who isn't yet 100% match fit and the BPL isn't a priority for us as it is all but over. So you either play Matic as the Box to box midfielder or you bring in a recently returning and not really up to scratch Pedro or an inexperienced youngster in RLC who can be found out in a game like this and could dent his progress.
I wouldn't call this cowardly .

Thoughts are straigt to zouma who will be out for the rest of the season but hopefully this doesn't affect the lads career as these injuries can

When it comes down to it they force one good save from Tibo and we forced 3 out of De Gea, the last 20 minutes we had over 90% possession and battered against their defence more than we did Sunderland.

They absolutely fell to pieces when we had the ball and we could've won, they on the other hand didn't create enough clear chances when they had momentum.

good for you but i think he's doing it worse in some area, he still keeps ivanovic and on top of that he insists using matic to help mikel and he seems to favor oscar over hazard..
