I'd give it Luiz, natural leader. Perfect fit for the arm band.

We could kill two birds with one stone by giving the captaincy to Eden and cement his future at the club, and then make Luiz vice captain, the captain of our defence, the main man at the back if you like.

Nah Eden doesn't strike me as a captain sort.

I wouldn't just give it to someone in the hope it makes them want to stay at the club, shouldn't have to resort to that.

It can only really go to Cahill. I know he has issues but at the moment he is ahead of all the other candidates. Whoever comes in will not be as good as JT. He is an impossible act to follow so the role will take on a new meaning. I still think a British candidate should get the job, not politically correct I know, but the crowd will relate better and the team will have a bit of a home identity. I also think you can't beat a bit of British back bone. There are no other obvious candidates. Hazards an individual and shouldn't be burdened. Costa will be gone as he hasn't settled in England very well. (He can't speak very good English if any). Luiz is a maverick. Dave .......... OK Maybe Dave but would he want it? He doesn't strike me as the type. He runs all day and has a great spirit about him but does he communicate with his team mates that well? Maybe he could rise to the challenge. OK so Dave it is then.

Impossible to follow JT.

I don't think Cahill will be a regular first team player next season, a lot depends on how our defence performs for the rest of the season. But i imagine we will lose Ivanovic and Terry, and bring in Zouma and Christensen and a new ??defender.

1st choice                  Azpilcueta-----------Luiz--------?????

2nd choice                  Zouma-------Christensen-------Cahill

He doesn't look like he's someone of authority. Not a glue guy.

One of those meaningless statements, as it would have been odd had he said no :laugh2:

Most players would of been a bit more coy and heaped praise on the current captain, but Hazard looks hungry for the position, you could see a glint in his eye when he was asked.

“When you receive the armband, it’s a moment when you take on that responsibility. Not everyone wants responsibility. It is important that the captain must always put the team first, ahead of personal interests, even if he has to pay a heavy price for that" Antonio Conte (former captain of Juve)

‘I have that side of my personality, to be a leader and to organise. A leader needs to be available to give something for others. I’ve had that in my character since I was young.

‘But of course I understand that now there is a responsibility, as somebody who has been here before and played many games, to use the experiences I’ve picked up in my career to help the youngsters.’ David Luiz recently.

Easy to see how Conte gets the best out of Luiz

Never thought I would say this before he re-joined the club, but I think Luiz would make a great captain.

He displays the characteristics of a charismatic leader, but most importantly he appears more mature and composed these days.

Yep I agree.

And anyone who does this sort of thing HAS to be captain material!!

I don't understand how more people are not saying Azpi.

From memory, I nominated Azpi before Luiz rejoined in the summer.

So he's definitely in the mix if Luiz is somehow overlooked in the near future.
