How will you feel if Leicester lift the title at the Bridge?

Featured Replies

Interesting stat doing the rounds on Twitter of teams with most top six finishes..for a club with no history, well not since 2003 anyway according to many ignorant tossers, we seem to be rather high up on the list.

Most top 6 finishes in English top-flight history:

Liverpool 59

Arsenal 56

Man Utd 53

Aston Villa 45

Everton 45

Chelsea 31

Tottenham 31

I think fairytale effect would play out.. The new champion win the title at the current chumpion's ground; spurs & arsenal have no chance, don't worry..

If jose wasn't sacked then maybe a scenario where ranieri win the title with lowly leicester while jose's chelsea get relegated could play out.. that would be massive irony, wouldn't it?  But instead, thank goodness, the karma is on personal level.. Jose's last game was against the man he replaced  a decade ago..

As for the feeling, it would be just fine, no bitterness whatsoever on leicester winning it because we had been out of it since the beginning.. The tricky part would be on whether we condone to 'purposely' lose the game to prevent our sickening london rivals from winning it (cesc might have different idea.....) I'm still not very sure about it because technically, it's match fixing..

Btw, speaking of match mixing, it gets me to think about the odd at the beginning of the season, it's 5000/1 for leicester to win the title.. does that mean if i bet 1k at the beginning, I'd win 5mils at the end ??

Football us fluid, I don't agree with the notion that a big club will always be a big club, Leeds, Forest, Villa, Preston (!!) etc.

Status changes over the course of time, in particular since the game has changed so much since the inception of the premier league.

Except that never have the top clubs been working harder to cement the status quo with off the pitch antics.  I agree but wonder if some new regulations or rules (much as FFP tried) will be introduced to ensure LFC and MUFC never have to finish lower than 6th or just have the right to play in the CL or a super league anyways...

We're also 6th on the all time league table:

I think in some cases a big club will always be a big club, Man Utd Liverpool for example.

There's plenty of Chelsea fans young(20's) & older who would love to see the likes of Leeds/Forest/Sheff Weds back in the PL, they piss all over going to places like Watford/Norwich & in previous season's likes of Wigan/Blackpool/Blackburn for example, that comes down to the size of the clubs & their fan base.

Are Everton and Villa still big clubs?

Let's hope we don't end up like the fourth team on that list.

I suppose in status terms yeah they are, what'd you think?

I cannot imagine how anyone could see them as one. Maybe in Liverpool and Birmingham :)

Any club can fade. A few more decades without a PL win for Arsenal with us and/or Spurs winning things could well change the status quo.

 Sleeping Giants.

all this history and what we won in the past is such a load of bull, its all about now and tomorrow

Whilst I agree to a large extent that today is what matters, the game on the whole evokes memories and is in rich tradition. Its why most of us can recall particular goals or incidents from matches that may not have any significant meaning from the past. A quick look at the vintage section on this site shows just how popular yesterdays traditions are.

Going to those places, are they not more appealing due to the places themselves, big cities/large towns, rather than small suburbs like Watford etc? The size of these places also dictates fanbase too to a certain degree too.

Haha i think they are still a big draw, look at it this way if we could choose who to play in the cup for atmosphere with 6,000 away fans i'm sure most of us would say Everton or Villa knowing they'd sell 6,000 rather than a game v WBA or Swansea for example who i think would struggle to bring 3,000.

totally agree, but the reminiscence should be just that, not were 'this' because we once did 'this'

This whole big club thing is a ludicrous debate to me. Big clubs are clubs that players want to join. Clubs that players would choose over other clubs, assuming money and other things were equal. In that sense, big clubs are trophy winning clubs. If Liverpool, Arsenal and us bid for a player and offered identical wages and guaranteed a first team spot, who would they choose? I am 99% sure that any neutral player (ie not Liverpool/Arsenal fan) would choose Chelsea as we are a bigger club who win more trophies.

Liverpool were a big club once. Who is still around from their glory days? The tea lady? Groundsman? They win the odd trophy here and there, but they arent in the champions league regularly, they dont compete for the league and they have the occasional cup run. Big club they are not. Big HISTORY yes, but will top players sign for them based on what they achieved in the 70's/80's?

Big players play for big clubs. Simple as that. PSG are a big club now, AC Milan are not. Times change.

Hi guys, leicester fan from australia here in peace!

Me and my old man have just booked flights back from australia for the last two games- with the hope that the miracle may, may happen. What a story it could be. The 3am games for the last couple of years would be so worth it.... Anyway, i think we have everton tickets.... obviously we are at the bridge on the final day. We need tickets, as a matter of urgency :) impossible in the foxes end sadly.  If any of you guys would be willing to sort us out in the home end you would be greatly rewarded. Please email me on [email protected] with any availabilities!!!  Better us than spurs and arsenal hey! :)

Anyway........... Going back to the original thread I would have mixed feelings. Frustrated that Chelsea FC have parted company with Jose again and failed miserably in all competitions but I would feel strangely happy that Claudio Ranieri wins the Premier League. Just imagine how he would feel waving that trophy around at the Bridge. In front of Roman. Retribution of the highest order. I remember the look on Claudio's face the night we beat Arsenal in the Champions League at Highbury. Wayne Bridge had scored the winner from a  one two with Eidur and on the final whistle Claudio was overcome with emotion. He had tears in his eyes for this club and we sacked him at the end of the season.

I think the question should be how will Claudio feel if Leicester lift the trophy at the Bridge?

Guys, i am going to be flying into London the morning of the Leicester game and I want to get tickets without paying too much.  Anyone have suggestions?

I wouldnt bother without a ticket pre bought to be honest if you dont want to spend to much, expect to pay a fair bit if you havent bought tickets via the club before hand otherwise you are looking at face value plus 50% or more for a ticket from a tout
