May 7, 201610 yr Sadly, judging by their actions and how Spurs have escaped pretty lightly, I think they have taken into account who it was against and said chelsea are fair game..,but then given Ashley Barnes was allowed to bend Matic's leg with a studs up challenge last year, they'd already made that perfectly clearLet's not forget that Matic actually got sent off and banned for remonstrating with the thug who nearly ended his career (maybe he did, as he's not been the same player since, has he?). And yet earlier this year the FA overturned Gabriel's red for kicking out at Costa, on the grounds that Costa had been winding him up.No agenda against us, though.
May 7, 201610 yr And here's shay given downplaying eye gouging...incredible: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03tb5wf This is very disappointing. Shay Given is regarded in Ireland as a football legend and has a nice guy reputation. As if Eamon Dunphy and Roy Keane weren't embarrassing enough
May 7, 201610 yr Elaborate. Costa is a known thug in this league. It would be pretty petty to not say he is getting what he is ordering. He runs his mouth to players and is expecting a reaction. Tottenham was fighting for league title and they knew we can crush that dream. What dembele did was disgusting but 6 games is a hefty ban for a crime that resulted in... Nothing, really. He didn't hit Costa's eye nor did anything happen to him. Something could have happened of course. You're right of course. The FA Rulebook clearly states that players are well within their rights in winding up Costa, and that if he should react - no matter how persistent the provocation, that said reaction shall be deemed to be entirely Costa's fault. A subsection of the same rule goes on to say that Costa winding other players up is utterly reprehensible, even when such winding up is apparent only to the match commentators and/or football journalists. The FA will be delighted to have been told that the third Costa related rule - that Costa's ratio of fouls per yellow card should be among the lowest in the league - has been fully adhered to Edited May 7, 201610 yr by Lofty1905

The FA will be delighted to have been told that the third Costa related rule - that Costa's ratio of fouls per yellow card should be among the lowest in the league - has been fully adhered to Ha ha. Nothing to do with the rulebook though my comment. When I first heard it (6 game ban) I thought to myself "that's about right". Nasty thing he did but shouldn't be 8 or 10 games. Please show how many rows have we had with players when Costa is not playing. Probably a low number versus when he is playing. I don't mind him doing what he does as long as he does it for Chelsea's good. But if you do that you have to pay the price. Costa is very willing to pay that price. He loves that it seems. He probably felt he did very well with Dembele as he ended up sticking finger around Costa's eye. You have to be extremely naive and biased towards Chelsea if you don't think Costa gets what he deserves. Still a magnificent player and scorer and I hope he stays.
May 7, 201610 yr All of that is completely irrelevant, the FA can't be allowed to hand out punishment depending on whether the victim deserved it or not. If you advocate allowances like then how would it be decided, who will decide if the victim deserved it? It's just daft.

It's actually been proven that Costa has an extraordinarily low fouls to yellow card ratio,With eight minutes to kickoff I haven't got time to go into more details, just check out this page on the BBC.
May 7, 201610 yr He is not a dirty player physically but psychologically. Football fans in general hate his face. Costa is clever and he uses ways to win other than his footballing talent. I think it is okay but you have to pay the price in losing respect and situations like this here.

May 7, 201610 yr Running your mouth is entirely different from physical assault. It is. Totally agree. Dembele's eye thing harmed Costa in no way. Only gave him more meat to work with. Look, dembele should have been sent off but six games is pretty accurate for what he did. I'm saying there wouldn't have been an eye sticking thing if Costa wasn't on pitch. No one goes to Eden with that animosity.

May 7, 201610 yr Again that's completely irrelevant to the the punishment. So if Costa is the reason to all the animosity on the field he is irrelevant?
May 7, 201610 yr So if Costa is the reason to all the animosity on the field he is irrelevant?I'm out.
May 12, 201610 yr UEFA has decided to punish Mark Clattenburg for losing control and failing to book violent conduct in an emotional derby with the league title at stake by... giving him the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid
May 12, 201610 yr I smile to myself as i remember so many years hating spuds...Loooooooong b4 the ......STAND UP , IF YOU HATE TOTTENHAM song we were always singing IF YOU ALL HATE TOTTENHAM CLAP YER HANDS, IF YOU ALL HATE TOTTENHAM CLAP YER HANDS, IF YOU ALL HATE TOTTENHAM ALL HATE TOTTENHAM ALLHATE TOTTENHAM CLAP YER HANDS.........Yep these old hands have done their job
May 16, 201610 yr Just seen on Sky, we've been fined £375,000 for failing to control our players, Spurs only got £225,000. How the f**k do they think we deserved a bigger fine?
May 16, 201610 yr Just seen on Sky, we've been fined £375,000 for failing to control our players, Spurs only got £225,000. How the f**k do they think we deserved a bigger fine? Unbelievable, well actually not unbelievable where those f**king thieving w**kers are concerned. I wish we would take them to court over this kind of sh*t.
May 16, 201610 yr Likelihood we will be fined more, FA will mention 12 yellows without pointing out it was double to spurs, will then mention previous etc. Media narrative has become 12 yellows and 3 brawls without pointing out who the main perpetrators are. Cough.....
May 16, 201610 yr Which of our players were of control? I can think of about 9 Spuds players (and their manager), but not one of ours did anything out of order. A couple of fouls, but nothing really dirty, and our players showed a lot of restraint in the face of thuggery and a total lack of protection from the officials, who turned a blind eye to off-the-ball kicks and stamps. And who then compounded this by telling the FA that they'd seen these incidents, so preventing the FA from issuing the retrospective reds they warranted. Imagine how badly a weakened Spuds team might have performed in their last two matches if those players had been banned? Edited May 16, 201610 yr by Backbiter
May 16, 201610 yr Can anyone be in any doubt now that the fa is bent against us? Jose was right, the fa is sh*te
May 16, 201610 yr I think the Club should appeal, citing the amount of yellow cards given to both teams, as their main protest. Also did we have a player who trod on one of their hands, or attempted to gouge an eye out?.As others have commented, certainly appears the FA have got it in for us?. Pathetic.
May 16, 201610 yr Lets face it they know sweet fa.Spuds lost the plot and we get the bigger fine, utter bollocks!
May 16, 201610 yr The club should appeal. There's enough video evidence to show the entire world that the it was the Spuds who lost control and not our team. And if it comes to it, go to the civil justice if possible. This is just broad daylight robbery.
